  1. Option to change SCCM client communication with cloud distribution point to use only one fixed IP

The cloud distribution point Azure service gives the SCCM Client a list of Azure Blob Storage URLs to the content files of a package or application.
The client will then download via BITS directly from Blob Storage instead of downloading from the Cloud Distribution Point URL.
For many customers this is a problem because they have to open client firewalls for the hole Azure Datacenter IP Ranges or for the hole internet for the svchost which hosts the BITS service.

It would be great to have an option to switch the download behavior between two mode:
    First Mode: The cloudā€¦

  2. Preserve status of Extraction Views on Upgrade

In our environment, we have a connector set up to bring SCCM data into and System Center Service Manager (SCSM). This requires having SCCM's Extraction Views enabled as described here
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2874780/the-service-manager-connector-to-configuration-manager-does-not-transf
    and
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh949655.aspx

It appears this is not preserved during SCCM upgrades and has caused problems with SCSM not accurately retrieving certain inventory data from SCCM.

SCCM Current Branch upgrades should check the status of the Extraction Views, and preserve that status across upgrades. Currently, we have to run the spExtEnableDeleteDetection stored procedure described in the article following an SCCM upgrade to re-enable these views.

  3. SCCM software should cater for hostname change and OS Upgrade

SCCM is a software deployment tools. It should support at least on hostname change or OS Upgrade.

Ultimately, the software is a design for Enterprise usage.
To redo entire setup just not feasible for a server hostname change.

  4. Enable Migration of Client Settings

I've been migrating our SCCM 1606 infrastructure across servers, and while it's been fairly smooth sailing so far, I just discovered that I'm not offered the option to migrate my (10-12) custom Client Settings.

The official documentation on this - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/migration/determine-whether-to-migrate-data#Cannot_migrate - doesn't list Client Settings that can or cannot be migrated. Am I missing something, or was it just forgotten about in the design of the migration wizard?

    Thanks!

  5. suport Group Managed Service Account gMSA same as in SC 2019 products

gMSA is more secure and all customers request for it, System Center 2019 now support gMSA except Configuration Manager.

  6. Multiple Primary Site Servers for Migration of Host Operating System

Have the ability to add a second Primary Site Server to an environment running as a standalone site to allow migration from an older Operating System to the latest version e.g. Migrate your 2012 R2 SCCM server from 2008 R2 to 2012 R2 by adding a second primary site server, and allowing settings, data etc. to synchronise. Then retire the old 2008 R2 server.

IBCM - MP and SQL Configuration setup.

Each and every time MS released a new version of update we need to delete the replication for the current running one (Either its in DMZ or Local server for IBCM) and update the server with new Current Branch. Its a hectic task to create the setup again and test the IBCM functionality. Need some permanent solution for this in the setup folder itself

  8. Compress Status Messages on Remote MP instead of using MP Replica

I run a single Primary Site Server supporting 26K clients. I also have two Regional MP's (Not MP Replicas).

The stat.box and statemsg.box files regularly fill up with over 20K+ files (supporting only a few thousand clients each) and it takes nearly 10 hours for the MP to send all those files (one by one) to the Site Server over the WAN.

The bandwidth utilization is minimal (stat.box with 27K files is only about 7MB in size) however sending that many individual files over the WAN is extremely inefficient.

Compressing these files into a single zip/cab/etc. before sending to theā€¦

  9. Provide support Configuration Manager(CM) with Azure AD DS

Provide support Configuration Manager(CM) with Azure AD DS, which is no require patch management than AD in Azure IaaS. This simplifies our cloud operations. As described on following site, the managed domain of Azure AD DS is listed as compatible with Windows Server Active Directory.

  11. Implement ability to target and control remote DP upgrade process

Current: If a site is upgraded to CM vNext (1603), all the remote site systems get upgraded automatically with no control

Ask: Implement functionality to target and control remote site system upgrade process. This could be done via collections or DP groups

Reason: It's too high risk with environments that have thousands of distribution points (pull DPs)

  12. Distribution point configuration status - reset alerts

When looking at the status of my DPs in Distribution point configuration status there is a yellow alert that won't go away due to some error that occurred during dp migration, there is no package ID associated with it so I am unable to use any sql tricks or tools to make it go away. I suggest making an option via gui to "clear alerts" like I can do via Site status. please add this feature

  13. Please make inbox/outbox system webservice based instead of SMB based

It would be lovely to not rely on SMB for inbox and outbox operations since these are very fragile in high latency environments. Changing this to a webservice would be so much like year 2020 technology.

  14. Support disjointed namespace in SCCM updates.

It is supported during fresh installations but not for updates. Please either thoroughly update documentation regarding this or fix the updates.

  15. Option to put SCOM Agent into maintenance mode when DP is put into maintenance from ConfigMgr

It would be nice to have a checkbox like we have for deployments to pause SCOM agent on DPs when setting them to maintenance mode.

Technically, all DP configurations are done by DistMgr, so it should be possible to update it with re-used code from the client functionality.

  16. Make TESTDBUPGRADE be able run locally before site server upgrade

Please make TESTDBUPGRADE be able run locally before site server upgrade. In customer enviroments it is just too complicated to arrange separate SQL box with exact same version just to test the db.

I tried to shutdown all SMS components and deattach another databases, but I still get: Error; Cannot run TESTDBUPGRADE on a SQL instance which host an active site Database.

  17. migrate administrative users and associated objects

if you have over 50 administrative users in the old sccm 2012 environment, it is quite time consuming to have to reimport all those groups, link them to the role (thank god you can import/export those) and collections again.
please find a way to automate even if it envolves scripting!
not all of us are working with the 'full administrator' role...

  18. Selective restore from SCCM Backup

I want the option to restore from a backup on a per object (collection, package, application, task sequence, driver package, etc.) basis. I want to be able to do this without doing a full restore of the entire site. For instance, 190 packages were deleted. Admin finds out 1 day later. Many changes were made. Doing a full restore is not an option. How can i restore from backup the 190 packages only that were deleted.

  19. Expand use rights associated with the SQL technology provided with System Center Configuration Manager

As noted in the licensing FAQ (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/understand/product-and-licensing-faq) and more specifically in the comments (https://github.com/MicrosoftDocs/SCCMdocs/issues/464) the SQL Server license included with ConfigMgr does not allow hosting databases for solutions commonly integrated with ConfigMgr.

This is a request to include rights to use relevant Microsoft / 1st party products (MDT, MBAM, PowerBI integrated with ConfigMgr) and 3rd party solutions which have the exclusive purpose of maintaining a healthy ConfigMgr environment (CMMonitor / Ola Hallagren's SQL Server Maintenance Solution, Anders Rodland's ConfigMgr Client Health solution, etc.) in the SQL usage rights that are included with ConfigMgr.

    Microsoft solutions whichā€¦
