  1. Preserve status of Extraction Views on Upgrade

In our environment, we have a connector set up to bring SCCM data into and System Center Service Manager (SCSM). This requires having SCCM's Extraction Views enabled as described here
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2874780/the-service-manager-connector-to-configuration-manager-does-not-transf
    and
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh949655.aspx

It appears this is not preserved during SCCM upgrades and has caused problems with SCSM not accurately retrieving certain inventory data from SCCM.

SCCM Current Branch upgrades should check the status of the Extraction Views, and preserve that status across upgrades. Currently, we have to run the spExtEnableDeleteDetection stored procedure described in the article following an SCCM upgrade to re-enable these views.

  2. Allow easier move to Site Server HA

Too much manual work, and juggling of steps... setup of content library, move providers, move SQL, move roles remote. If I'd like to just move machines to a newer OS, or a new machine name... give me the easiest way possible to move the switch.

  3. Allow Site server HA e2e on a maximum of 2 machines

HA should always be able to run on a maximum of 2 machines. This includes all remote roles, as well as provider, as well as reporting, as well as SQL (including AO). Don't require any roles to be remote from the 2 machines.

  4. Support Active/Active mode with Site Server High Availability

Now that Site Server HA is supported in 1806 (primaries) / 1810 (hierarchies)… it is only Active/Passive. Add capabilities for Active/Active.

  5. Speed up SCCM CB servicing Update (for small SCCM CB hotfixes)

Hi, I don´t know why a small Hotfix, for example the PXE Bug in SCCM CB 1806 (KB4471892), which only change the sccmpxe.exe file, need a complete SCCM CB update cycle.
We manage 120.000 clients in a SCCM hierarchy (1 CAS / 3 PRI / 15MPs / 6SUPs / 350 DPs / 3 CMGs / 6 CloudDPs /... ). A SCCM CB Update + UpdateRollup is just possible on a update weekend. When we need also a hotfix on top, we run out of time.
The Update Step "INFO: Executing spDRSRegenerateAllDrsSprocsAndFuncs" takes up to 3 hours on each CAS/Pri Site…

  6. Configuring SQL Server Service Broker logging inprovments

During platform updates this step takes forever and CMUUPDATE.LOG shows no movement. Large DB's could use a little EU graphic or indication of progress on the back end.

  7. Expand use rights associated with the SQL technology provided with System Center Configuration Manager

As noted in the licensing FAQ (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/understand/product-and-licensing-faq) and more specifically in the comments (https://github.com/MicrosoftDocs/SCCMdocs/issues/464) the SQL Server license included with ConfigMgr does not allow hosting databases for solutions commonly integrated with ConfigMgr.

This is a request to include rights to use relevant Microsoft / 1st party products (MDT, MBAM, PowerBI integrated with ConfigMgr) and 3rd party solutions which have the exclusive purpose of maintaining a healthy ConfigMgr environment (CMMonitor / Ola Hallagren's SQL Server Maintenance Solution, Anders Rodland's ConfigMgr Client Health solution, etc.) in the SQL usage rights that are included with ConfigMgr.

    Microsoft solutions which…

  8. Add additional information on CMG Monitoring

The CMG dashboard needs to be developed further to see which clients are using it and what content they have downloaded. In addition, we should be able to see how much we are being charged for this to enable us make a decision on whether we add additional content or prevent further download of content already in the CMG

Dashboard is a screenshot, not enough and shouldn't be considered 'Monitoring'. I know this is a new concept but i believe as this becomes more widely used, there will be a greater demand for this

  9. Use the Migration Manager account for all Migration-related tasks

During CM-migration from source to target sites the Migration Manager account is not entirely used. Instead, the machine account of the target site server is used to access objects and source files in the source site, like Images, Boot-Images and Driver Packages. Thus, when migrating cross Domian without AD-Trust, we cannot migrate these objects due to access errors. This is truly annoying. If the Migration Manager account from the source domain would be used consequently, there won't be this problem.

  10. Add preflight checks and improve documentation for the “Modify SQL Server configuration” option

1.) When running the SCCM Setup Wizard and choosing “Modify SQL Server configuration” there does not appear to be an adequate preflight check to ensure Config Manager is running with full administrative rights to A) operating systems, B) SQL instances and C) Config Manager itself. These permissions are (obviously) critical to a SQL configuration change. In enterprise environments, setup.exe should be reaching out to check rights to all the things it needs to modify (file system, registry, certificates, etc.) before it executes the changes. Partial modification of the configuration has catastrophic results.

2.) Execution of the SQL configuration change does…

  11. Make siteserver move easier.

Now with Site Server HA, I can move to a new Server OS... but moving all the roles (SQL, DPs, Content) is tedious. Can we make it easier to move it all at once. (Panu's request)

  12. Support for SQL always-on multi-subnet failover

Recently, we tried to deploy SCCM DR solution using SQL AlwaysOn in different Geo locations (multi-subnet), however setup was failing. The Microsoft documentation was not clear for enough. After talking directly with the Microsoft engineer, he confirmed that SQL AlwaysOn in multi-subnet environment is not supported with SCCM (v1802 at that time). Considering this, it’s pretty useless to have SQL AlwaysOn on the same subnet as main purpose of having a cluster is to design a solution for a DR situation.

Can you please confirm if Microsoft is working on AlwaysOn with multi-subnet/multi-site support for SCCM? When this feature will…

  14. Make SQL broker port in use detection part of pre-req itself

The setup fails to configure SQL Broker during the setup and it is such a pain to cleanup everything after that. SQL broker port in use detection ( in case we install 2nd site in the hierarchy) should be part of pre-req itself. we manually specify the broker port in setup wizard and thus we should have a pre-req check in before we begin the actual setup process.

Setup fails with below error as we don't do it at the moment.

ConfigMgrSetupWizard Verbose: 1 : Received error [Setup failed to configure SQL Service Broker. Possible Cause: Each Configuration Manager site…

  15. Manage access accounts globally for the remote content library feature to work - 1806

With the new feature of having a remote content library for the primary site (a prerequisite for HA ability), there is an issue with the access permissions set on the remote content library.

During the process of adding a new application/package/driver/bootimage/etc, configmgr creates all the necessary files and folders in its own content library, however on one particular file structure for each package, it takes off inheritance of permissions and adds only the storage servers: 'users' and 'administrators' group.

This causes issues when the storage is hosted remotely and the primary site computer account is not a member of the…

  16. check performance gains for specific compatibility levels when servicing sccm

When servicing SCCM (for example from 1802 to 1806) the compatibility level was changed from 110 to 130. The compatibility level was set to 110 specific because of major performance issues with level 130.
With the compatibility level being reset the update from 1802 to 1806 is already running for 43 hours and still not completed (CE level is already changed back to 110). Why not running a few SQL query's, based on this article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3196320/sql-query-times-out-or-console-slow-on-certain-configuration-manager-d to check performance for each possible level. Then based on the results, change the compatibility level? If we have this kind of performance issue…

  17. Disconnected Secondary Site

This would allow a Secondary Site to operate disconnected from the hierarchy for a set amount of time. During this disconnected state the Primary above it would not try to reach out to the Secondary (and vice versa) but would wait (similar to a prestage DP) for the interval specified before trying. Also the Secondary while disconnected would process its client information similar to a Primary and optimize the replication data so that when the connection was re-established there wouldn't be a huge backlog. This would allow hierarchies with devices that have limited or no connectivity for extended periods at…

  18. Distribution point configuration status - reset alerts

When looking at the status of my DPs in Distribution point configuration status there is a yellow alert that won't go away due to some error that occurred during dp migration, there is no package ID associated with it so I am unable to use any sql tricks or tools to make it go away. I suggest making an option via gui to "clear alerts" like I can do via Site status. please add this feature

  19. Pre-Req Checks

Perform permission checks on key locations where sccm will be setup. We had a problem experienced a few years ago where we had a "hash mismatch" error b/c the account I was using to perform the upgrade did not have permission to the install directory.

    https://sccmf12twice.com/2017/02/sccm-2012-r2-sp1-failed-upgrade/

this problem is still possible in CB

  20. Non Matching Custom Port DP Sharing/Migration Support

Would like to see the product support moving from a 2012 hierarchy which is using custom ports for client communication and IIS bindings, into a CB hierarchy that is using default ports. My understanding is that both environments need to match exactly from a port perspective and we have over 400 remote DP's that will need to be removed manually from SCCM 2012, reimaged and then redeployed as remote DP in CB all over slow links. We have no internet connectivity options for a cloud DP scenario in these location (like China). This will significantly delay our migration globally to…
