  1. Speedup Site Reset during Upgrade and Maintenance

When doing Inplace Upgrades of Sites or Maintenance of Sites that require Site Resets (like changing Active/Passive, moving SQL, ā€¦) it takes hours or days for the Site Reset to complete in complex Environments with Site Systems behind slow (low bandwidth, high latency) links. And the worst Thing About that is, that PXE mostly is down during that Phase until the reset is finished. I would appreciate to Speed that up, prio1 make PXE stay available during reset, prio2 only copy binaries over WAN links when needed (Upgrade) and maybe use WinRM for Controlling the remote Servers. Also making theā€¦

  2. Halting/pausing to perform remediation task during an Install of Configuration Manager

Too many times I've began an install of Configuration Manager, complete the pre-requisite check with no failures, then begin the install only to have some small issue an HOUR INTO THE INSTALL totally derail the install forcing me to start all over. There has to be some way of implementing a halt or pause during the installation to remediate certain issues, like changing the TCP port number the SQL instance uses so the SQL Server broker service can be configured. Or at least make sure that prerequisite check covers everything that could cause an issue later down the line. It'sā€¦

  3. SCCM Maintenance mode

SCCM would benefit to have a setting to put the SCCM infrastructure into a "maintenance mode" to avoid needless errors being reported.

For example, when OS patching of Infrastructure servers occurs, we get errors such as (among others):

Message ID 515 - Could not connect to registry hive HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Microsoft\SMS on computer XXXX

Message ID 1037 - Site Component Manager could not access site system "\xxxxxx"

Message ID 600 - Failed to get a SQL Server connection. Either the SQL Server is not running, or all connections have been used.

    etc.

I would like to see an time likeā€¦

  4. SQL Usage rights comes along with SCCM license allows to setup SQL Always On AG ???

My understanding is the SQL usage rights comes along with SCCM license will be Standard Edition only. Please correct me if I'm wrong. So does the SQL usage rights comes along with SCCM license allows to setup SQL Always On AG???

As per below link, I could see that SQL usage rights of SCCM allows SQL Always On. But SQL Always on with SCCM requires Enterprise edition. This is were I'm confused, please help !!!

  5. Add a "Enable Branchcache" box for the SUP Role.

I was having trouble with BranchCache not deploying any updates. My SUP is on a standalone server and after some light digging I discovered that you have to enable that feature separately. It would be nice if the SUP properties section had "Enable BranchCache" option like the Distribution Point Role.

  7. SCCM software should cater for hostname change and OS Upgrade

SCCM is a software deployment tools. It should support at least on hostname change or OS Upgrade.

Ultimately, the software is a design for Enterprise usage.
To redo entire setup just not feasible for a server hostname change.

  8. Updates and Servicing: Deploy new client package prior to upgrade

One of the most time consuming steps when we perform an SCCM upgrade is waiting for the new client install\upgrade packages to replicate to our lower bandwidth sites. Currently we are installing the latest update in the test lab and manually creating a package and distributing it in production with those files so the content library has the files at upgrade time. It would be helpful if there were an option similar to "run prerequisite check" to create the packages and distribute the content ahead of time.

  9. Configmgr Backup status node in "Monitoring" node

Currently we need to check smsbakup.log , if we need to know status of last backup. This is being crucial task for SCCM health check , its better to see status within console.

As we have " Software update Sync status" , I feel its good to include "configmgr backup status" in "monitoring"

  10. Ability to run SCCM Update prerequisite check again if failed

If you did not run a prerequisites check prior to installing the Configuration Manager and it fails you aren't able to run it again. The run prereq check button is greyed out and if you use Retry installation any warnings during prereq checks are ignored.

It would be great if the Run prerequisites button would be available in this scenario to run it again without ignoring the warnings.

  11. Allow scheduling of SCCM upgrades

For those running a Tech Preview lab, you may forget sometimes to update your lap and your release may expire.

In production sites, it would also be nice to trigger the upgrades on a schedule to not have to be in front of the console to start the upgrade.

It would be great if you could schedule the servicing upgrades to be ran on a schedule based on release date. Start X days after release at X time, much like an ADR. You could also expose this to PowerShell to provide more customization.

  12. Service connection tool should validate the downloaded content.

When Service Connection Point is offline (No internet) and you need to use the ServiceConnectionTool.exe this process should be as solid as possible.
Had a case where the 1902 update where downloaded and imported to the SCCM 1810. Everything looked good. Installation started and went all the way to Install File step. Installation failed since the initial import did not include all prereq files in the redist -folder.

This could have been avoided if there would be some kind of content validation e.g. after the download or during the import or during the pre-req check.

    There are different "manifest..xml" filesā€¦

  13. preserve permissions on cd.latest folder after CM update

After applying an SCCM update via in-console servicing, permissions on the cd.latest folder are not retained. This requires any process/account backing up the cd.latest folder to have read access re-granted after every SCCM update.

  14. Allow changes to DP Description while its in Maintenance mode.

Allow changes to DP Description while its in Maintenance mode. Once a DP is in MM you cannot change any of the Properties. It would be helpful for people who do not have console access to be able to see that the DP is in MM. Either allowing Admins to modify the name or have CM do it.

  15. suport Group Managed Service Account gMSA same as in SC 2019 products

gMSA is more secure and all customers request for it, System Center 2019 now support gMSA except Configuration Manager.

  16. Would be great if a installation of a SCCM Agent on another hierarchy would be supported and possible.

In complex service provider environments are sometimes several SCCM hierarchies. Right now there it is not supported way to install a SCCM Agent from a other SCCM hierarchy on for example Pull DP. This kind of Servers cannot be managed by SCCM and we can not deploy Software Updates to them .We are also not able to Monitor Windows Defender Malware infects. In the most cases Customers are installing a Standalone WSUS for a such kind Servers. Even it is especially important to prevent Malware infects on SCCM Servers, customers are then not Monitoring Malware infects.. Would be great ifā€¦

  18. Add Azure File Storage support for Remote Content Library

For Site Server high availability, it is recommended to host Content Library and Package source on a remote location. Please add the support for using Azure Files (https://azure.microsoft.com/en-gb/services/storage/files/).
