  1. Status Message Query - Double Click to Run

At the moment if you double click a Status Message Query, it edits it, So to run it you need to right click it or select it and click the button on the ribbon.

It would be better if this was reversed so that double clicks run the query and to edit it you right click it

  2. Super Long timeout for "INFO: Checking status of SharedAccess..." during setup/upgrade

Every time we do a ConfigMgr installation or upgrade - even now with in-console updates - there's a ridiculously long wait (105 minutes) when the setup tries to verify that the SharedAccess service has been restarted. Two problems: 1) the timeout is way too long; don't know how this is even calculated but in our much smaller lab environment it's only 7 minutes, and 2) the service is disabled so why are you even trying to start it in the first place????

This causes our site server upgrades to take much longer than they need to and introduces extended outagesā€¦

  3. Allow setup /checkdbupgrade to use a named instance

Allow setup /checkdbupgrade to use a named instance, instead of just failing. In some cases, we can't use the default instance.

  4. Multithreaded prereq checker

The prereq checker will check a number of "things" on all site systems, including if the OS version is supported or not. However, if you have a large number of remote distribution points across very poor lines this can take many hours. I have recently upgraded a CM12R2 site to 1511. The prereq checker ran for more than 8 hours.

My suggestion is simple, in an upgrade scenario the prereq checker should read the number of packages that distmgr is allowed to process an use the same number of threads to check remote distribution points (or other site roles).

  5. Have updates automatically handle MP replicas

It's a real pain to have to tear down and rebuild the MP replicas every time I want to install a servicing update. It would be great to have the update process automatically save the replica state, point the MPs at the primary DB, tear down the MP replicas, do the update and then put it all back.

  6. Improve monitoring in "Upgrades and Servicing"

Improve the interface with SCCM administrators to allow better monitoring of the update stream (perhaps allowing the update to be launched from the console of the server that will be updated instead of only from the center console - which would allow greater interaction with the operating system in SCCM server to be updated - also making the process more flexible). Also experiencing greater confidence and visibility for administrators who perform it.

  7. Improve/Flex SCCM Updates and Servicing new model

Flexibility in the upgrade process for allowing manual execution (in part or 100% - in the manner of the process used for the updates of Cumulative Updates and new releases made to the 2012 version and the 2012 to 1511 - more flexible and less plaster, mature, stable and be technically more professional for whom is running). This can eliminate the dependence of customers for handling patches of unsuccessful updates failures in SCCM databases by Microsoft engineering in case of failure (especially in the tables that control the update process itself), since this type handling is not supported by Microsoftā€¦

  8. Bootstrap: Remediate failures encountered with previously binaries modules (product IDs)

    Adjust the bootstrapping for himself, which already identifies previously installed modules and conflict (and shown in the logs identified by their respective ProdIDs), remove them safely and then properly install the correct modules;

  9. Increase SCCM Upgrade with the option of a Full Backup of All SCCM Files (not only Inboxes), All Registry and SQL

Include the full backup of the database, registry and "all" SCCM set of files installed on the server (not only the INBOX folder): This could mitigate the problem we find binaries coexisting with previous version after restore failed SCCM upgrade atempts, allowing new update attempt to be made without failures. May be including the option to administrators to include this backup process as part of the Upgrade process with a simple flag.

  11. Updates and Servicing Download Status

Please add a percentage status (or progress indicator) for downloads under Administration / Cloud Services / Updates and Servicing. It would help to visually confirm if the download is stuck and requires the SMS_EXECUTIVE service start/stop process.

  12. Add Fast Ring option to Console Options

Instead of using the EnableUpdateRing.ps1 powershell script, why not add that feature into the console like it has been done with Windows 10 in the Settings applet.

  13. Provide same MP forwarding for clients connected to standalone MPs than for Secondary Site MPs

When clients upload Information to a Secondary Site MP, that Information gets consolidated, compressed and then sent up in the hierarchy by ONE single file, in order to minimize WAN issues.
However at standalone MPs each small Client communication is being sent up using one little file, resulting in many little packages consuming lots of unnecessary WAN bandwidth.
That prevents us from getting rid of our secondary sites even though we urge to do so, i.e. because they caused critical failure when updating to ConfigMgr 1511 (classified by Microsoft as known Bug)

  14. Remove dependency on default document in IIS configuration

A common security vulnerability exists in the default IIS configuration when SCCM is installed. Having the default documents (eg iisstart.htm) can aide a malicious actor in discovery https://www.rapid7.com/db/vulnerabilities/http-iis-default-install-page

IF the default document is removed, Workgroup clients are unable to communicate with SCCM. The default document should not be a dependency on SCCM, or on workgroup clients ability to connect.

Symptoms: Clients not joined to the domain can not connect to an SCCM server
Client Location log shows http 403 errors
Error sending HEAD request. HTTP code 403, status 'Forbidden' ClientLocation
    Text=CCMEBADHTTPSTATUS_CODE ClientLocation

    Workaround:
    Adding a defaultā€¦

  16. Selective restore from SCCM Backup

I want the option to restore from a backup on a per object (collection, package, application, task sequence, driver package, etc.) basis. I want to be able to do this without doing a full restore of the entire site. For instance, 190 packages were deleted. Admin finds out 1 day later. Many changes were made. Doing a full restore is not an option. How can i restore from backup the 190 packages only that were deleted.

  17. Check if Cloud Service name is valid during Cloud Proxy Wizard

When deploying the new Cloud Proxy Service role in SCCM 1606, the user is asked to provide a Cloud Service Name. However, the UX does not explain that this is needs to be globally unique in all of Azure. I chose the name of 'SCCMCloud' turns out someone else already got that one though, and so the wizard completes and then fails in provisioning.

This is sloppy. The UX should include instructions for the end-user to validate their name first (which can be done in Azure -> Cloud Service -> New, you're able to test various names until you findā€¦

  19. migrate administrative users and associated objects

if you have over 50 administrative users in the old sccm 2012 environment, it is quite time consuming to have to reimport all those groups, link them to the role (thank god you can import/export those) and collections again.
please find a way to automate even if it envolves scripting!
not all of us are working with the 'full administrator' role...

  20. Backup and Restore with snapshot technology

With SCCM 2012 it is not supported by Microsoft to use the snapshot technology to backup and restore the SCCM servers.
This functionality is important to run an easy and fast backup before you install an update on the SCCM server.
In addition some backup tools like SIMPANA use the snapshot technology in general to backup and restore virtual servers.
