  1. Speed up SCCM CB servicing Update (for small SCCM CB hotfixes)

Hi, I donĀ“t know why a small Hotfix, for example the PXE Bug in SCCM CB 1806 (KB4471892), which only change the sccmpxe.exe file, need a complete SCCM CB update cycle.
We manage 120.000 clients in a SCCM hierarchy (1 CAS / 3 PRI / 15MPs / 6SUPs / 350 DPs / 3 CMGs / 6 CloudDPs /... ). A SCCM CB Update + UpdateRollup is just possible on a update weekend. When we need also a hotfix on top, we run out of time.
The Update Step "INFO: Executing spDRSRegenerateAllDrsSprocsAndFuncs" takes up to 3 hours on each CAS/Pri Siteā€¦

  2. Updates and Servicing: Deploy new client package prior to upgrade

One of the most time consuming steps when we perform an SCCM upgrade is waiting for the new client install\upgrade packages to replicate to our lower bandwidth sites. Currently we are installing the latest update in the test lab and manually creating a package and distributing it in production with those files so the content library has the files at upgrade time. It would be helpful if there were an option similar to "run prerequisite check" to create the packages and distribute the content ahead of time.

  3. Configmgr Backup status node in "Monitoring" node

Currently we need to check smsbakup.log , if we need to know status of last backup. This is being crucial task for SCCM health check , its better to see status within console.

As we have " Software update Sync status" , I feel its good to include "configmgr backup status" in "monitoring"

  4. Ability to run SCCM Update prerequisite check again if failed

If you did not run a prerequisites check prior to installing the Configuration Manager and it fails you aren't able to run it again. The run prereq check button is greyed out and if you use Retry installation any warnings during prereq checks are ignored.

It would be great if the Run prerequisites button would be available in this scenario to run it again without ignoring the warnings.

  5. Manage access accounts globally for the remote content library feature to work - 1806

With the new feature of having a remote content library for the primary site (a prerequisite for HA ability), there is an issue with the access permissions set on the remote content library.

During the process of adding a new application/package/driver/bootimage/etc, configmgr creates all the necessary files and folders in its own content library, however on one particular file structure for each package, it takes off inheritance of permissions and adds only the storage servers: 'users' and 'administrators' group.

This causes issues when the storage is hosted remotely and the primary site computer account is not a member of theā€¦

  6. Halting/pausing to perform remediation task during an Install of Configuration Manager

Too many times I've began an install of Configuration Manager, complete the pre-requisite check with no failures, then begin the install only to have some small issue an HOUR INTO THE INSTALL totally derail the install forcing me to start all over. There has to be some way of implementing a halt or pause during the installation to remediate certain issues, like changing the TCP port number the SQL instance uses so the SQL Server broker service can be configured. Or at least make sure that prerequisite check covers everything that could cause an issue later down the line. It'sā€¦

  7. Would be great if a installation of a SCCM Agent on another hierarchy would be supported and possible.

In complex service provider environments are sometimes several SCCM hierarchies. Right now there it is not supported way to install a SCCM Agent from a other SCCM hierarchy on for example Pull DP. This kind of Servers cannot be managed by SCCM and we can not deploy Software Updates to them .We are also not able to Monitor Windows Defender Malware infects. In the most cases Customers are installing a Standalone WSUS for a such kind Servers. Even it is especially important to prevent Malware infects on SCCM Servers, customers are then not Monitoring Malware infects.. Would be great ifā€¦

  8. Allow scheduling of SCCM upgrades

For those running a Tech Preview lab, you may forget sometimes to update your lap and your release may expire.

In production sites, it would also be nice to trigger the upgrades on a schedule to not have to be in front of the console to start the upgrade.

It would be great if you could schedule the servicing upgrades to be ran on a schedule based on release date. Start X days after release at X time, much like an ADR. You could also expose this to PowerShell to provide more customization.

  9. Add a "Enable Branchcache" box for the SUP Role.

I was having trouble with BranchCache not deploying any updates. My SUP is on a standalone server and after some light digging I discovered that you have to enable that feature separately. It would be nice if the SUP properties section had "Enable BranchCache" option like the Distribution Point Role.

  10. Add additional information on CMG Monitoring

The CMG dashboard needs to be developed further to see which clients are using it and what content they have downloaded. In addition, we should be able to see how much we are being charged for this to enable us make a decision on whether we add additional content or prevent further download of content already in the CMG

Dashboard is a screenshot, not enough and shouldn't be considered 'Monitoring'. I know this is a new concept but i believe as this becomes more widely used, there will be a greater demand for this

  11. Allow changes to DP Description while its in Maintenance mode.

Allow changes to DP Description while its in Maintenance mode. Once a DP is in MM you cannot change any of the Properties. It would be helpful for people who do not have console access to be able to see that the DP is in MM. Either allowing Admins to modify the name or have CM do it.

  12. Support disjointed namespace in SCCM updates.

It is supported during fresh installations but not for updates. Please either thoroughly update documentation regarding this or fix the updates.

  13. Allow install of State Migration Point role on client operating systems like Distribution Points

It would be convenient if we could use PCs with client Windows OS (eg. Windows 7 or later) as User State Migration Points to backup and restore user data via USMT on remote locations, like we already do with Distribution Points. Given that, more or less this would imply the creation and management of a "simple" network share on the client, it could be relatively easy to implement and at the same time relieve us from the burden of using scripts etc. to configure and use USMT manually in our TSs.

  14. Preserve status of Extraction Views on Upgrade

In our environment, we have a connector set up to bring SCCM data into and System Center Service Manager (SCSM). This requires having SCCM's Extraction Views enabled as described here
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2874780/the-service-manager-connector-to-configuration-manager-does-not-transf
    and
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh949655.aspx

It appears this is not preserved during SCCM upgrades and has caused problems with SCSM not accurately retrieving certain inventory data from SCCM.

SCCM Current Branch upgrades should check the status of the Extraction Views, and preserve that status across upgrades. Currently, we have to run the spExtEnableDeleteDetection stored procedure described in the article following an SCCM upgrade to re-enable these views.

  15. Multiple SCCM site backups prior to upgrade

The new way to upgrade SCCM is great. However in order to have a restore point if the upgrade fails, we are currently running indipendent backups on CAS and our 3 Primaries. If we ever would need to rollback, we are not sure to be able to restore the infra from the backups we have taken, because they are not synchronized (each one run at his own speed). It would be great if there would be a task that would take a backup / snapshot of the full CAS and PRI (something like an SCCM backup for all sites thatā€¦

  16. Support for SQL always-on multi-subnet failover

Recently, we tried to deploy SCCM DR solution using SQL AlwaysOn in different Geo locations (multi-subnet), however setup was failing. The Microsoft documentation was not clear for enough. After talking directly with the Microsoft engineer, he confirmed that SQL AlwaysOn in multi-subnet environment is not supported with SCCM (v1802 at that time). Considering this, itā€™s pretty useless to have SQL AlwaysOn on the same subnet as main purpose of having a cluster is to design a solution for a DR situation.

Can you please confirm if Microsoft is working on AlwaysOn with multi-subnet/multi-site support for SCCM? When this feature willā€¦

  17. Add Azure File Storage support for Remote Content Library

For Site Server high availability, it is recommended to host Content Library and Package source on a remote location. Please add the support for using Azure Files (https://azure.microsoft.com/en-gb/services/storage/files/).

  18. Add support for hosting the ConfigMgr DB on a Basic Availability Group (Always On)

Always On Basic Availability Groups provide a high availability solution for SQL Server 2016 and SQL Server 2017 Standard Edition. A basic availability group supports a failover environment for a single database. It is created and managed much like traditional (advanced) Always On Availability Groups (SQL Server) with Enterprise Edition.

ConfigMgr now requires read access to secondary replicas, which is only available in the Enterprise Edition of SQL Server.

  20. Expand use rights associated with the SQL technology provided with System Center Configuration Manager

As noted in the licensing FAQ (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/understand/product-and-licensing-faq) and more specifically in the comments (https://github.com/MicrosoftDocs/SCCMdocs/issues/464) the SQL Server license included with ConfigMgr does not allow hosting databases for solutions commonly integrated with ConfigMgr.

This is a request to include rights to use relevant Microsoft / 1st party products (MDT, MBAM, PowerBI integrated with ConfigMgr) and 3rd party solutions which have the exclusive purpose of maintaining a healthy ConfigMgr environment (CMMonitor / Ola Hallagren's SQL Server Maintenance Solution, Anders Rodland's ConfigMgr Client Health solution, etc.) in the SQL usage rights that are included with ConfigMgr.

    Microsoft solutions whichā€¦
