  1. Allow exclusions in ConfigMgr content folders

When selecting a content location it would be nice to be able to add a list of folders (and possibly files) to exclude from the content. e.g. we often include an installation wrapper script in the content that drives the installation or removal process for applications / packages it would be nice to include them in a small git repository in situ. While we can do this now ConfigMgr copies the repo as part of the content. It would be nice to be able to exclude it from content replication / delivery / caching.

  2. Distribution points in Hierarchy view

Make it so that distribution points are visible in the Hierarchy View and not only primary/secondary sites. An while we are at it have a view to see the package distribution status on each distribution point, example if there are 100 packages and 60 are distributed, 30 in progress an 10 failed then we would see the proper pie chart. and clicking on the section of the pie chart would give us the view of that section. Would be great for updates as well, being able to see which computers need which updates

  3. Put rate limit on pull distribution point

You can not configure rate limits on pull distribution point only on non pull distribution points. this is an issue In many environments. please add the rate limit function to pull distribution point

  4. STOP accidental deployment or content transfer

The bigger question is Can SCCM Admins undo accidental deployments? Do they have any out of box controls in SCCM to STOP the deployment they initiated by mistakenly?. SCCM is still missing that big RED button to stop all the initiated deployments. SCCM / ConfigMgr doesn’t have any mechanism to stop the package replication or traffic over the WAN immediately.

  5. Auto discover/identify missing subnets/boundaries

Given that ConfigMgr collects IPs/Subnets during inventory, it would be very helpfully if there was an automated way of identifying/discovering when clients are on a subnets that aren't configured within a boundary.

  6. Include an option in a program deployment to not allow peer cache

Would be a nice option to exclude certain deployments from allowing clients to use peer cache as a content source.

This would help for situations where content needs to be downloaded but also immediately cleared from the client cache, thus causing other client downloads to fail until they fall back to a DP, or randomly find a peer that hasn't deleted or modified the content.

  7. Distribution Point - Timezone schedule sync

At the moment when setting up a schedule for Distribution Points to do their syncing the timezone being used is the one from the primary site server.

when having DP's over multiple continents this brings some advanced math to get the sync done right :p

Would there be a possibility to use "Use DP local Time" as with advertisements ?
Or maybe in the schedule tab on the DP properties have a dropdown list with for example "you are now scheduling in GMT+1" where you can select a list of timezones so it does the calculations for you.

  8. Improve peer caching performance during task sequence

When downloading task sequence policies and resolving package download locations during a peer cache request, only download the content which is actually needed during the PE phase of the task sequence. Currently it downloads peer cache locations for all packages associated with the task sequence, even though it doesn't use it all since it only works in PE. This adds significant time to resolve task sequence policy during this step.

  9. Source DP prioritization during refresh content/MS package update over other DPs

During content refresh or MS SUP cleanup content update requests get sent to all pull/DPs. However, Source DPs do not have the content present and therefore the child DPs cause extra messaging stating content not present in DPs. request that Source DPs get priority when updating content prior to request being sent out to DP to download/update content

  10. Ability to set DP Reserved Disk Space from the GUI

There is no option currently to set a DPs reserved disk space except with and SQL query and reg change. It would be good to be able to do this via a GUI option.

  11. Implement content distribution rings

Existing: if a given content distributed to 2000 plus pull distribution points they may all start downloading at the same time.

Ask: implement content distribution rings for large enterprises that they can group their pull distribution points exactly like dp groups. Provide ability to prioritize and set compliance thresholds on these groups

    Example:

    DP group 1: 200 dps compliance: %90
    DP group 2: 200 dps compliance: %80
    DP group 3: 200 dps compliance: %80

If content is distributed to all 600 dps then config manager will send the notifications to first dp group and stop. It will monitor compliance based…

  12. Make global conditions usable for all types of Deployments (Maintenance Windows, Power Settings, Compliance Baselines,...)

It's crazy how many different manually-made Collections I have just for targeting a Maintenance Window to match a particular department's needs, then also Power Settings, then their Compliance Baselines, then their Apps. Wouldn't it be better to just push evaluating applicability for all that out to the clients and free up server resources?

  13. Rebooting Content Location server or Distribution Point Server does not resume content transfer

If a Distribution Point server or server hosting the Content Location is restarted, the content transfer is not resumed to the Distribution Point. The content transfer should resume to the Distribution Point after the restart is complete.

  14. Fix out of sync content on the Distribution Point

At times, the distribution point will complain that there is a mismatch between the package list on the file system and the package list in WMI.

    The warning presented is as:

Failed to retrieve the package list on the distribution point.
Or the package list in the content library doesn't match the one in WMI. Review smsdpmon.log for more information about this failure.

    See attached error dialog.

The fix is to manually force the WMI list to match the content lib list.

I'm unsure what causes them to become mismatched, but it would be nice if MS could either fix…

  15. Client Data Sources

When viewing the client data sources report, it would be nice if the items in the boundary group list box were alphabetically sorted.

  16. Create Boundary section won’t provide multi-domain Active Directory Sites

In a multi-domain infrastructure the browse of Active Directory Sites must be able to scan multiple domains and accept equals AD Site names.
    See more:

  17. Fix problem with Peer Cache only working via HTTPS since CB 1710

We noticed 2 things making it impossible for us to use Peer Cache:
In CB 1702, we noticed that clients contacting the Peer Cache Source only attempt this via HTTPS.
This doesn't make sense, especially because we (and most of the other customers we know) use HTTP for the entire SCCM infrastructure.
Furthermore, in the client settings the option to switch from HTTPS to HTTP was obviously forgotten - it's missing.

Is the PG aware of this, and can we expect the issues will be fixed in CB 1802?

  18. LiveFlow of DP to Network

Currently there is no centralized way within ConfigMgr to determine if the expected desire of boundaries for content / site assignment works as expected. As boundaries can be configured in multiple ways (subnet, ad, range etc) and also allows to fallback between different servers - it would be good to allow insight into what clients from what networks are connecting to a DP to retrieve content. This would allow if the current design works as expected.

    Information that would be useful for on-prem DP;
    1. Devices (COUNT?) connecting from network (initial octets/subnet-mask)
    2. Connectivity type: local, remote, fallback etc...
    3.…

  20. Can't run ContentLibraryCleanup.exe on DPs in other domains

The ContentLibraryCleanup.exe will only execute in the domain that the primary site is in. I have a flat SCCM structure with only a primary site server and multiple distribution points. The DPs that are in the same domain as the primary work fine. If the DP is in an untrusted domains, the ContentLibraryCleanup.exe failes to run and returns and access denied message.
