  1. Add an option to update only Install or Uninstall content of a deployment type

It is great that you can now provide a separate Install/uninstall content location for a deployment type of an application. This is very useful for large applications.

However, there is one major limitation: You cannot update just uninstall (or install) content. If you have updated your uninstall script, the current Update content task will try to update both install/uninstall content.

Even though you haven't changed anything in your install content, it will takes ages for large applications, before SCCM understands that install content has not been modified.

It would be so much faster if you could just initiate "Update uninstall"…

  2. distribution point exclude USB drives

Need ability to define global rule for all distribution point servers never use a USB drive. We have techs in the field plugging drives into DP servers and without the no_sms_on_drive.sms flag file and SCCM start using the USB drive distributing packages and then they pull USB drive after their work and the DP has issues.

  3. Content Cleanup Tool Errors out on Nested Task Sequences

Allow the Content Cleanup Tool to ignore issues such as Nested Task Sequences. Currently it is a known issue that Nest Task Sequences cause this error "This content library cannot be cleaned up right now because package *** is not fully installed”"

  4. Ability to move Distribution point from one secondary site server to another secondary site server' has been merged into this idea

when we need to remove secondary site server or when need to rebuild secondary site server with another site code. A full uninstall and re install required for all Distribution points associated with that secondary site.
Also when we need to move a DP from one site code to another site code, it requires uninstall / re install….to avoid this it will be helpful to have ability to move DP’s between secondaries.

  5. Content validation

At SCCM you can validate Content only for one Device or you have manny work to validate Content at all Devices. With waork around right click tools you can validate content for all Devices. Implementing the right click solution and it will a better work with Content

  6. Port De-duplication technology of Distribution Point to Client

While at the distribution point a hashed file method is used to keep different applications using the same file, the really need fro this, in my opinion, should be the client computers, we have faced a really annoying case where to install 4 different applications (visio, visio pro, project, and Office suite) the same group of files are used , Office 365 installer, so it cam be 2.5GB four times if all the apps have to be installed at the device. this has a severe penalty at the storage and the network at the user device

  7. Display Content Status on Content Tab of Distribution Point Properties

On the Content tab in a Distribution Point's properties add a column to display the current content status (Success, In Progress, Failed). This would make it easy to see what content has not yet made it to a DP while on the screen where it would also be easy to Redistribute the content.

  8. Branch Cache client download behavior

As far as we know, the branch cache client download behavior is as follows:

    1. New package with a required deployment is being sent to a location with its own subnet
    2. Clients which received the deployment will start downloading the related content
    3. As soon as at least one client completely downloaded all content of the deployment, the other clients in the same subnet will start using this (and subsequent) client(s) for content download, which will then cause no WAN consumption anymore

However, this typically still causes quite a lot of WAN bandwidth consumption: as long as the “first”…

  9. Improve "Invoke-CMContentRedistribution" Method

If you hit the "Redistribute" Button in the console, or trigger a content redistribution over Powershell/WMI, this method will always copy over all content of a package to the Distribution Point.
However, it would make sense to only copy the data that is needed.
Example 1: Your package contains hundreds of files. One file has a “hash mismatch” error, so the package gets into the failed state. The only way to fix this issue is to “Redistribute” or use Invoke-CMContentRedistribution. This will copy over everything instead of the single file that is corrupt.
    Example 2: A distribution is offline for…

  10. Cloud DP certificate expiration should be more discoverable

I had a situation where the DP certificate in the cloud had expired and stopped communicating. I would like to suggest if it would be possible to create an alert for this in Overview -> Alerts -> Subscriptions an option to create an alert by email informing the certificates that will expire within 30 days. Or even another way to see this, because in this case the client does not have SCOM in the environment. only the SCCM.
    Thanks for listening

  11. Prevent the SCCM client from using hyper-v IP addresses

If you install Hyper-V on Windows 10, it will create a default adapter and randomly create an IP address, usually in the 172.x.x.x subnet. If by chance, you have a boundary that this random IP address falls into, the SCCM client will think it is part of this boundary, in addition to the boundary associated with it's physical NIC. The client considers both boundaries to be a Current boundary group and will therefore potentially download content from DP's associated within either boundary. In most situations, this additional DP will likely be across a WAN link which of course can cause…

  12. Delivery Optimization Boundary Groups

When working with Delivery Optimization (DO), today DO can't tell the difference between a site assignment Boundary Group (BG) and a content BG. Can DO be setup to have some kind of logic around site assignment and content BGs?

  13. Checkbox on deployment whether to allow download over CMG

Create a checkbox on the content locations tab of a deployment that dictates whether or not clients should use the cmg ti download content.

  14. Peer cache property, whether the software should be provided in the peer

Various applications are experience very large (<20gb).
The content I would like to have but not permanently in the ccmcache, otherwise I run the hard disks full.
Therefore I delete the content from the ccmcache directory after installation.

The peer cache feature offers every package or application in peer by default.
An application property (Deployment Types / Content / Specify the content location ...), whether the software should be provided in the peer, would be helpful.

  15. pull distribution source

I would suggest one pull distribution poin to pull content from more than one source DP at the same time.

  16. content distribution settings groups

Like many things in SCCM you can create groups/collections to manage settings for several objects at once.

It would be useful to be able to create 'content distribution settings groups' that would allow you to specify the distribution settings for a group of applications.

For example, being able to group together applications/packages that run in a task sequence and using the group to set distribution settings to 'High' to ensure content is distributed quicker.

Or being able to group Update Deployment Packages together.

By default everything could be added to a 'default' group with 'Medium' settings.

  17. Include a "Differential Size (KB)" and "Incremental Version Number" as optional Column Choices

"Configuration Manager supports up to five incremental versions of a content set before it resends the entire content set"

    Reference: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/plan-design/hierarchy/fundamental-concepts-for-content-management

"Incremental Version Number" would keep track of how many incremental versions (0=Full through 4=4th Incremental) of a package have occurred prior to every 5th content distribution which is when the next entire data sync will occur.

"Differential Size (KB)" to store the Result of the 'Binary Differential Replication' calculations of 'Source Version X' vs 'Source Version Y'

These two values would be extremely helpful in calculating future bandwidth requirements as well as calculating approximate content distribution times in Low…

  18. Elaborated Bandwidth Throttling

Currently, we can configure 'time-based' bandwidth throttling, which means we can restrict content transfer for a particular time period and that will be applicable for all days (same). What if, I want to configure different throttling setting for weekends (or may be some other days), during which, there is less load on network and I can loosen up the restriction.

  19. Software Center: Show more details regarding package information

Users are regularly informed via a pop-up that new software is available. If you then open the Software Center, you will see countless entries with status Installed or Available. However, it is not recognizable for the user whether a program listed is suitable for him, whether it represents a new version of a software already used by him or should not even be installed.
It would be better to let the user know which new software is a new version of an already installed one and, moreover, what features this new software provides. Thus, a distinction for the user would…

  20. Update content on Distribution Points – allow use of revision N-1 content in Task Sequences

We are supporting companies around the globe out of our Configuration Manager; it goes from Australia to Americas. So, we have all the time someone deploying a machine using the OSD task sequence. But we also have to update content used in the Task Sequence.
If ‘Update Distribution Points’ is started and a new revision is created, the content goes in yellow (in Progress) on all DPs. If you now want to start a Task Sequence, it will fail due to missing content. If some DPs have blackout times, e.g. not allowed to replicate content during daytime, it is even…
