  1. Improve "Invoke-CMContentRedistribution" Method

If you hit the "Redistribute" Button in the console, or trigger a content redistribution over Powershell/WMI, this method will always copy over all content of a package to the Distribution Point.
However, it would make sense to only copy the data that is needed.
Example 1: Your package contains hundreds of files. One file has a “hash mismatch” error, so the package gets into the failed state. The only way to fix this issue is to “Redistribute” or use Invoke-CMContentRedistribution. This will copy over everything instead of the single file that is corrupt.
    Example 2: A distribution is offline for…

  2. Content validation

At SCCM you can validate Content only for one Device or you have manny work to validate Content at all Devices. With waork around right click tools you can validate content for all Devices. Implementing the right click solution and it will a better work with Content

  3. Display Content Status on Content Tab of Distribution Point Properties

On the Content tab in a Distribution Point's properties add a column to display the current content status (Success, In Progress, Failed). This would make it easy to see what content has not yet made it to a DP while on the screen where it would also be easy to Redistribute the content.

  4. Branch Cache client download behavior

As far as we know, the branch cache client download behavior is as follows:

    1. New package with a required deployment is being sent to a location with its own subnet

    2. Clients which received the deployment will start downloading the related content

    3. As soon as at least one client completely downloaded all content of the deployment, the other clients in the same subnet will start using this (and subsequent) client(s) for content download, which will then cause no WAN consumption anymore

However, this typically still causes quite a lot of WAN bandwidth consumption: as long as the “first” client at least…

  5. Checkbox on deployment whether to allow download over CMG

Create a checkbox on the content locations tab of a deployment that dictates whether or not clients should use the cmg ti download content.

  6. When Deleting packages from SCCM Console it leaves the empty custom folder in the DP and only Delete the content of the folder.

Custom folder created during package creation should also get deleted from DP when the package is being deleted.
As of now whenever a package is deleted from console it deletes the content of the folder but leaves the empty folder itself.
These empty folder has to be manually identified and then cleared from the DPs.
This process of identifying and deleting empty folders is cumbersome specially when having large number of DPs and requires special attention while doing in order to avoid removing any of the working folders mistakenly.

  7. Us Git as a source for Application and Packages

It would be really nice if we could use Git as a source for Application and Packages.
Then we would have the benefits of Git, with version-control, check in and out, who did what, and why and so on.

  8. Distribution Point - Timezone schedule sync

At the moment when setting up a schedule for Distribution Points to do their syncing the timezone being used is the one from the primary site server.

when having DP's over multiple continents this brings some advanced math to get the sync done right :p

Would there be a possibility to use "Use DP local Time" as with advertisements ?
Or maybe in the schedule tab on the DP properties have a dropdown list with for example "you are now scheduling in GMT+1" where you can select a list of timezones so it does the calculations for you.

  10. Phased Deployments - Allow more than 2 collections to deploy to in ConfigMgr 1802

Whilst i know the feature for phased TS deployments is only pre-release in 1802. It'd be super useful to be able to add additional collections into phased deployments as opposed to only being able to use 2 collections.

I regularly run 4/5 phase deployments to the enterprise, and in some cases office by office. Having phased deployments support more than just 2 collections would be a massive time saver.

  11. Fix Distribution Point usage reporting, smsdpusage, so that it honours the preferred Management Points defined in Boundary Groups.

Currently the smsdpusage process does not honour the DPs preferred Management Points for the submission of the usage report. Instead, it appears to pick the last MP listed in the following registry location, HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SMS\DP\ManagementPoints. In some cases this MP may not be reachable and as a result no DP usage reports are submitted to SCCM.

  12. In Monitoring, distribution status, client data sources, need to be able to select the appropriate boundary group

In Monitoring, distribution status, client data sources, need to be able to select any boundary group. This is currently limited to 25. The greatest amount of data transfered

  13. Client Data Sources

When viewing the client data sources report, it would be nice if the items in the boundary group list box were alphabetically sorted.

  14. The ability to schedule content distribution

So as to minimize business impact during critical hours of the day where WAN impact can have significant outcomes. By being able to schedule when content distribution will start can greatly assist in this regard

  15. TRusted Source locations - Complete the Trusted Source story

I would like to see Trusted Source locations to be added to ConfigMgr as a Node in Administration, and permission so that only Full Administrator or a specific RBA Role can manage these locations.

All ConfigMgr wizards that allow path data-entry will be changed to become a drop down list of approved Trusted Source locations. The User will be able to navigate into the folder structure of the Trusted Source location, creating new directories with a restriction on placing content on the root of the Trusted Source location, since this can induce data-loss if the sub-folder is not specified in…

  16. Remove Deleted Content from Client Cache

Today, when you remove an object from ConfigMgr (Package, application, etc), the content remains in the local client cache (if it was ever downloaded). In an effort to clean up that old content, I think it would be a great idea to automatically cleanup content. For example, once I delete an image from the admin console, I will never need it again on my client systems, so go ahead and delete it from any system that has it in the cache.

(I currently use TidyCache to remove 'old' cache', but would prefer that this be handled natively by ConfigMgr. https://gregramsey.net/2015/11/17/tidy-cache-clean-up-old-ccmcache/

  17. Can't run ContentLibraryCleanup.exe on DPs in other domains

The ContentLibraryCleanup.exe will only execute in the domain that the primary site is in. I have a flat SCCM structure with only a primary site server and multiple distribution points. The DPs that are in the same domain as the primary work fine. If the DP is in an untrusted domains, the ContentLibraryCleanup.exe failes to run and returns and access denied message.

  18. Ability to set DP Reserved Disk Space from the GUI

There is no option currently to set a DPs reserved disk space except with and SQL query and reg change. It would be good to be able to do this via a GUI option.

  19. Boundary Group - Link a Site System Server and choose the role you want to use

When you have a Site System Server with both Management Point and Distribution Point roles and you want to link it to a boundary group, it would be great/usefull to select the role you want to link.
For example, in our environment, we have 2 servers. 1 with MP/SUP/DP for Wan access, 1 with only DP for LAN (Customers office) access. If I want that all Customers Offices workstations connect to MP, I must add both server to boundary group and the result is that Office's workstations will have the possibility to select both DP (using the WAN link). I…

  20. Make Pull DPs wait when updating content

When you update the version of a package/application that has already been distributed to all DPs, the Pull DPs sometimes error out because they are looking for the updated content on the source DP(s) when the source DPs are still receiving the content. The results in an error status for package for the Pull DPs.
