  2. Add option for setting BITS client setting based on current IP address

Add an option for setting BITS client settings based on the current IP address of the client. We have a number of users with laptops that roam between the home office (LAN), remote offices (low bandwidth WAN), and VPN. Right now we have to configure the laptop client setting for the lowest common denominator for bandwidth usage (WAN). Would like to be able to have the BITS setting change based on the current IP address of the client.

  3. Bind network access account with a boundary group

With the 1610 update to the boundary groups it seem to be easier to control the content location for a client.
Why not make it even better and move the network access account configuration to the boundary group configuration, or make it possible to bind a network access account with a boundary group.
In this way we can define exactly what network access account that should be used accessing content.

  4. ContentLibraryCleanup Distribution Point Maintenance Mode

I love the ContentLibraryCleanup tool, but in the small environment I'm working with about 10 remote DPs, the tool takes a really long time to run. On 2 of our DPs, it took 2 days each to run. Because it took so long, they both failed because at the end the tool reported that a particular package wasn't fully replicated yet.

We'd like a way to do the following:

    1. Put a DP in Maintenance Mode. This would let Content currently being deployed to the DP to complete (basically coming to a soft stop), but would stop new content from…

  5. Automatic CCM Cache Cleanup

If MS Config Manager Product team can include a new feature of automatically deleting patches and packages from CCM cache folder, after it is being used / after installation it would save a lot of space and we don't need to push a separate script to clear the cache.

  6. Enable HTTP content locations for source files

Enable the use of HTTP and HTTPS locations as source locations for content. With the increaseing use of GitHub and binary repositories like Artifactory the ability to use HTTP locations as content locations for applications and packages would be greatly helpful in managing and distributing the a content in an efficient manner within SCCM.

  7. The hash value is not correct - Please retry to download before failing

I Think you all have seen the error "The hash value is not correct" in the logs. The issue can be many things but from time to time this is related to a network issue happened during the TS runtime when the application/package/os image was downloaded. The way that the TS handle this is by breaking the TS.. I want a logic that will retry the download X number of time Before breaking the TS..

  8. Feature Request: Introduce a 'Remediate' option for Package/DPs for remediating package failures.

When a package fails to distribute to a DP, the only option right now is to 'Redistribute' the package to the DP. This is inefficient for large packages since 'Redistribute' transfers all package content to the DP even if some content may have already been transferred prior to the failure. For large packages, this not only takes a lot of time but consumes more network bandwidth than necessary.

When a package is 'added' to the DP, only the missing files are copied to the DP however there is no way to simulate an 'add' action from the UI.

    Having the…

  9. Content Removal/De-distribution

To be able to select more than 1 distribution point or distribution point group when removing content locations for packages or applications.

To be able to multiple selection locations before removing, rather than having to remove individually

  10. Ability to stop on-premise distribution point service

We can stop the service of cloud based DP with 1701.
But, for on premise DPs, there is no option to stop or suspend service. Sometimes, because of network problems or hardware problems, there is no connection to some distribution points. For this interval, site server tries to copy a new content (app, package etc.) to these DPs and fails and retry specific times. (redundant tries and jobs for site server)
Maybe, this is a good solution for this problem. For a DP, there should be a selection about suspend or stop the service, and clients which are in the subnet…

  11. Allow the admins to select (and ignore the current) the actual order of providers from which SCCM grabs the IP address for Content Location

The idea would be to have a setting (maybe Custom Client settings is a good place) where we can specify a specific order of priorities for network adapters from which SCCM takes the ipv4 address for content distribution and site assignment.

For example, we currently have the following settings in the network adapter configuration
    1- wireless
    2- LAN
    3- Remote Access connections

For VPN clients this is a big issue if we have a boundary which conflicts with one of the internal ones, like 192.168.x.x since they'll use the local IP as a top priority instead of the VPN one.

  12. Deduplication support for content source

Windows Server 2012 R2 data deduplication is currently only for the content library on distribution points but not on the content source itself (https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/configmgrteam/2014/02/18/configuration-manager-distribution-points-and-windows-server-2012-data-deduplication/). It would be nice to have deduplication support also on the content source. This might depend on the content source structure, but in the environments I'm working with, I have always different versions of application sources with only slightly different configuration files or just additional patch files.

  13. update content source paths from the console

instead of relying on thirdparty utilities or a collection of scripts, wouldn't it be nice to have a possibility during migration to change content source paths directly to the new location (if the location has changed)

there are many scripts around that do this for packages, applications, driver source and driver pkg path, os image sourcepaths and I know people that do it in sql also
but hey why not have this as a possibility in the migration, this would make the live of many sccm admins much easier.

  14. Improve peer caching performance during task sequence

When downloading task sequence policies and resolving package download locations during a peer cache request, only download the content which is actually needed during the PE phase of the task sequence. Currently it downloads peer cache locations for all packages associated with the task sequence, even though it doesn't use it all since it only works in PE. This adds significant time to resolve task sequence policy during this step.

  16. Create Boundary section won’t provide multi-domain Active Directory Sites

In a multi-domain infrastructure the browse of Active Directory Sites must be able to scan multiple domains and accept equals AD Site names.

  17. Cloud DP Preference

Allow administrators to set preference in environments with multiple Cloud DPs based on Client Settings as opposed to being non-deterministic. This would increase Cloud DP adoption in distributed environments and allow for additional Cloud DP instances in multiple Azure regions.

  18. Let Pull Distribution Point really work like Clients or Branch DP in ConfigMgr 2007

Pull Distribution Point require a Site server to initiate a TCP connection to them before they receive a push-notification to start downloading content from a source. Which means that firewall/network wise that it's more difficult to manage in high secure environments.
And after all: it doesn't make sense why client do initiate and use a seperate communication (Client Notification) channel using pull-mechanism and the pull-DP itself doesnt...

So, please let Pull-DP themselves initiate and setup the "Client Notification" or communication channel for push-notifications from the site server, just like the Clients do and old Branch DP did.

  20. Fix the bug where SCCM does not "Disconnect users from distribution points"

We frequently use SCCM to deploy folders and files that don't need constant synchronization with the source.
We make these files available for manual execution from the shared folder as well as creating programs in that package that we can then push to clients.
There is a bug that keeps SCCM from disconnecting users from any open files in that folder. When this happens, SCCM starts deleting files in the shared folder but can not close the open file, so it just stops - leaving the folder with only some of its contents. To work around this bug and other…
