Extend the downloadable time of the peer cache source.
There is a 24 hour time limit for a PeerCache client to download from a Peercache source.
When distributing large files, the token may expire and the download may not complete.
we expect to extend the 24-hour constraint. (For example, 1week.)835 votes -
Improve Content Replication
Content Replication from Site to DPs should be a frustration free Process or SCCM Admins. Unfortunately, I know no customer without smaller or bigger issues in this area.
Here is an uncomplete list of some issues I´ve noticed:
• Content Eval - Scheduled Task lost
o SCCM does not check if the schedule task got lost/deleted
o Suggested Solution: SCCM should verify the Scheduled Task on Service Startup
• Content Eval - Hash mismatch/Eval fails for package
o When content Eval fails for a package, the admin must manually redistribute it / take care of the error
o There should…241 votes -
Client Cache Maintenance
Option for the Client Cache to be "purged" on a schedule. This helps keep systems clean and rid of unwanted files.

User friendly progress tracking when distributing content to distribution points.
User friendly progress tracking when distributing content to distribution points. At the moment when asked how long it will take to have content available one needs to track the logs and guess a time frame. If it would be possible to have a progress tracker i.e. speed at which the content is copying, queue tracking, and eta.

Add option for setting BITS client setting based on current IP address
Add an option for setting BITS client settings based on the current IP address of the client. We have a number of users with laptops that roam between the home office (LAN), remote offices (low bandwidth WAN), and VPN. Right now we have to configure the laptop client setting for the lowest common denominator for bandwidth usage (WAN). Would like to be able to have the BITS setting change based on the current IP address of the client.

Allow the admins to select (and ignore the current) the actual order of providers from which SCCM grabs the IP address for Content Location
The idea would be to have a setting (maybe Custom Client settings is a good place) where we can specify a specific order of priorities for network adapters from which SCCM takes the ipv4 address for content distribution and site assignment.
For example, we currently have the following settings in the network adapter configuration
1- wireless
2- LAN
3- Remote Access connectionsFor VPN clients this is a big issue if we have a boundary which conflicts with one of the internal ones, like 192.168.x.x since they'll use the local IP as a top priority instead of the VPN one.

The hash value is not correct - Please retry to download before failing
I Think you all have seen the error "The hash value is not correct" in the logs. The issue can be many things but from time to time this is related to a network issue happened during the TS runtime when the application/package/os image was downloaded. The way that the TS handle this is by breaking the TS.. I want a logic that will retry the download X number of time Before breaking the TS..

Us Git as a source for Application and Packages
It would be really nice if we could use Git as a source for Application and Packages.
Then we would have the benefits of Git, with version-control, check in and out, who did what, and why and so on.64 votes -
Feature Request: Introduce a 'Remediate' option for Package/DPs for remediating package failures.
When a package fails to distribute to a DP, the only option right now is to 'Redistribute' the package to the DP. This is inefficient for large packages since 'Redistribute' transfers all package content to the DP even if some content may have already been transferred prior to the failure. For large packages, this not only takes a lot of time but consumes more network bandwidth than necessary.
When a package is 'added' to the DP, only the missing files are copied to the DP however there is no way to simulate an 'add' action from the UI.
Having the…

Enable HTTP content locations for source files
Enable the use of HTTP and HTTPS locations as source locations for content. With the increaseing use of GitHub and binary repositories like Artifactory the ability to use HTTP locations as content locations for applications and packages would be greatly helpful in managing and distributing the a content in an efficient manner within SCCM.

Have PkgXferMgr set *all* jobs destined to a given Pull DP to retry after the configured interval on failure
Currently, if there are 100 jobs in DistributionJobs destined for a given Pull DP, and PkgXferMgr fails to connect to the DP for the first one, only that job is marked with a retry time 20 minutes (by default) in the future. We then move on to the next jobs, all destined for the same DP, and mark them individually for retry. In a very busy environment with lots of Pull DPs and jobs, having just 5 or 6 DPs that are offline, this looping prevents PkgXferMgr from scheduling most of the jobs that are destined to DPs that are…

Peer Caching Boundary Groups
ConfigMgr Team, your best practice document regarding the set up of boundary groups actually breaks peer caching.
To quote: "it is a best practice to create a separate set of boundary groups to use only for site assignment."
This is good advise, and I use this also for Management Points and Software Update Points so that if I add or remove a site system, I only have to modify 1-2 boundary groups instead of 150.
Since Peer Caching is now based on Boundary Groups, if you have implemented this best practice, then effectively every client in a site that…

Retry mechanism when deleting packages
When a package is deleted from the console, the packages/apps are removed from the database. If for any reason a pull DP or DP is not available, or WMI has issues on those remotes site systems, the files on the remote SCCM content Lib are not removed. This creates orphaned files on the Content Lib and causes storage issues on the servers.
We are working with a customer that as a large number of PullDP's so we would like to suggest on the behalf of our customer, to have a retry mechanism in the console to delete the content from…42 votes -
More Options to configure Boundaries
Currently you can only configure Boundaries based on IP Addresses or AD-Sites.
However, in some situations it would be great to have more Options.
For example, if you manage Clients in multiple protected NAT Environments.
It´s possible that multiple sites/zones use the same IP Ranges, so you cannot configure Clients to use local DPs.
A possibility would be a Reg Key like HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\CCM:AllowedMPs, but for Boundary Groups.41 votes -
Deduplication support for content source
Windows Server 2012 R2 data deduplication is currently only for the content library on distribution points but not on the content source itself (https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/configmgrteam/2014/02/18/configuration-manager-distribution-points-and-windows-server-2012-data-deduplication/). It would be nice to have deduplication support also on the content source. This might depend on the content source structure, but in the environments I'm working with, I have always different versions of application sources with only slightly different configuration files or just additional patch files.

Prevent the SCCM client from using hyper-v IP addresses
If you install Hyper-V on Windows 10, it will create a default adapter and randomly create an IP address, usually in the 172.x.x.x subnet. If by chance, you have a boundary that this random IP address falls into, the SCCM client will think it is part of this boundary, in addition to the boundary associated with it's physical NIC. The client considers both boundaries to be a Current boundary group and will therefore potentially download content from DP's associated within either boundary. In most situations, this additional DP will likely be across a WAN link which of course can cause…

Report to Detail download duration and size of content for each Client
As more users are working from home for the current pandemic the network teams are constantly asking... how much data are SCCM Clients downloading over the VPN.
I would like to see a report that we can see the size of content and how long it took each client to download the content for updates, packages and applications. Even at what speed BITs was downloading so we could see which of our users have very slow/small Internet connections at home. This should include whether they downloaded from MS Updates, on-prem DP's or the CMG.39 votes
