  1. Remove Custom Discovery Data

When creating custom discovery data using the smsresgen class there is no way to remove this from the discovery related tables in ConfigMgr. Since there is a supported way to add this data, there should be a supported way to remove it. This is necessary as a rollback option, to return ConfigMgr to its default state, before the custom discovery data was added.

  2. AD System/User discovery on disabled accounts

SCCM is not synchronizing disabled accounts, so it is not synchronizing the change in the UserAccountControl-attribute, so from SCCM perspective every machine/user is active. This creates problems e.g. in Software Asset Management since collections canā€™t select AD active accounts only. SCCM should synchronize changed attributes or at least UserAccountControl of AD disabled accounts if the account exists in SCCM

  3. More Intelligent Client Cache

With SCCM 2012 we got the single instance store on the back end which reduces the need for storage significantly on the server side but on the client side there's no optimization whatsoever.
If you for example have 2 applications or deployment types which are using the same or almost the same content they are downloaded both separately. This has a negatively impact on the disk space you need to reserve for the client cache but also on the bandwidth used to download almost twice the same content. I believe this can be done better.

  4. Get MAC Address from AD

It would be useful to get the MAC address (or convert the netbootGUID attribute to MAC address) from computer objects discovered in AD.

In our environment, new computers are prestaged in AD which then end up discovered by system discovery and added to SCCM. Existing computers which have not had the SCCM client installed are also discovered and added to SCCM. However, when either a brand new machine or existing machine without the client installed needs imaged, the existing object in SCCM needs deleted, and then a new object needs imported with the MAC address so the machine can PXEā€¦

  6. AD Group Discovery should not write DDR for invalid records

When System Discovery finds an object that seems invalid, currently it won`t be imported (which is good).
ERROR: System <systemname> is a unsupported operating system, unsupported version, or malformed AD entry. Reported system type is: ().
However if the same object has an AD Group Membership and AD Group Discovery finds it, it won't check if it is valid, but write the DDR and create the object record in SCCM DB.

Please change AD Group Discovery so it validates new objects too.

  7. Include seperate client push settings for workstations and servers

We would like the ability to have seperate client push settings for Workstations vs Servers, specifically the ability to have seperate installation properties.

what are the main settings you want different between clients and servers?

  8. Extend AD discovery to work with Multivalue Attributes

Please extend AD discovery to work with Multivalue Attributes.
For the moment, only the first value from the multivalued attribute is discovered.

  9. Client Push by OU

Having the ability to use Client Push more granularly would be awesome. We have about 6 domains, and multiple OUs are defined in System Discovery, yet I don't want Client Push enabled on them all, so it is currently disabled. Maybe having an option in the Discovery area, for an OU that is added (right where it says "Search AD Groups and Search Child containers") that enabled Client Push on that discovered OU. Or More granular settings on Client Push itself, maybe a small GUI attached to it

  10. Reboot required after client upgrade

sometimes the client needs to be rebooted after an automatic client update. if you're not connected to the machine (ie server), once you connect a notification appears but if you open the software center (old and new) you will not see anything pending reboot (installation status is empty or does not have the information that anything is asking for reboot). it would be great to see under installation status that the client was upgraded and it the machine needs a reboot to complete the installation

  11. Make Software Inventory scan cycle useful again

Software Inventory scan cycle (file scanning) of just Program Files can be ridiculously slow where it can run for over 12 hours or more which impacts all other inventory scan cycles. Worse still, if user powers down or restarts client the scan restarts from scratch. Disabling throttling is still too slow ( due to its use of WMI according to Tier 3) and not supported.
We would like a usable Software (file) Inventory scan cycle.

  12. Client Push installation status in ConfigMgr console

It would nice to have a client push installation status in the console. We already have client installation status messages (FSP), so why not display them in the console? As a consultant I always see a disappointment in the admins faces when I try to explain that they have to wait for the client flag, search client logs or use reporting for client installation status.

  13. Deploy certificate with the Client (like in Intune)

Certificate would tie up the ConfigMgr Client to a specific site and would make connecting ConfigMgr Clients from the Internet easier with MP in Azure.

  14. Show last cycle completion time in control panel applet

When an action is triggered in the Control Panel applet on clients, a vague message is displayed saying it will take several minutes to finish. Would like the applet to show last completion time (or 'Running') for each action, similar to how the Configurations (compliance) tab does.

  15. Client upgrade via APPLICATION rather than PACKAGE

Rather than use the outdated Package model to deploy Client upgrades after upgrading to a CU/SP I would like to see an application model that can determine cause of failure etc.

  16. Show missing dependencies in Tasksequence instead of Reboot

    Show missing dependencies!

Typically distribution errors (which occur automatically ******) lead to a well-known error in tasksequences:

    HRESULT=80040102
Failed to resolve selected task sequence dependencies.
    Exiting with return code 0x80040102
    TS environment is not initialized

OSD only shows "Preparing network connnections..." Then the WinPE tasksequence automatically reboots and boots the currently installed OS.

Why can't you just show or list missing packages?!?! Or add a skip option? Even SMSTS.LOG isn't helpful...

  17. Send Client removal notification to MP to toggle installed flag

When a ConfigMgr client is removed from a computer the installed flag remains on Client=Yes, i.e. the real status is not being reflected in the console/database. Instead of relying on aging inventory and the "Clear install flag" maintenance task it would be much more transparent and efficient to send a heartbeat to the MP before the ConfigMgr client is removed to reset the install flag to Client=No. That way not only would the maintenance task be obsolete (there is still Delete Inactive Client Discovery Data to cleanup inactive computers), also a re-installation of the agent would be much faster thanā€¦

  19. SCCM client must read Direct Access "Successful Connection" as criteria when laptop is at home with Direct Access connected

There is issue when SCCM client only considers Direct Access network adapter activeness but it doesn't calculate whether DA connection is successful or not. In case of DA "connecting" scenario where laptop is not at all connected to Corporate Network, SCCM client keep trying to access on-prem SCCM MP and DP servers and failing every time until its get connected or user disconnects from DA so that SCCM client tries to DMZ hosted IBCM MP and DP server for successful communication.

If SCCM client get additional logic to consider Direct Access Successful criteria then there will not be any SCCMā€¦

  20. Software installation notification

It would be a great option in App builder to be able to create a custom message that the user would see explaining why a software package is being installed or uninstalled. It would need a method of keeping it on the screen until the user clicks OK..
