How can we improve Configuration Manager?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  2. The ability to do a top down search on all collections.

Search collections from the top down. It would be great to have the ability to search for collections anywhere in the top of the tree down. If you have multiple collections it would be so easy to have a search all function at the top in device collections to search all

  3. Server Groups - Non Clustered Servers

Can we increase the functionality of the Server Groups feature on collections to allow us to control non-clustred servers

For example, when patching I have a collection for Hyper-V hosts, but want to ensure that onyl one Host is down at any one time, and not all of them at once!

  4. Choose subfolder when creating a new collection from the right-click menu

When you use the right click menu to add a user or device to a new collection (which opens the wizard to create a new collection), it defaults to the root collection node. We manage our collections with multiple folders and sub-folders, and it would make management easier if we could change the location where the new collection will be created instead of tracking it down after creation and manually moving it to the desired location.

  5. Add operating system architecture as column to Device Collection

Add operating system architecture as column to Device Collection to have a better overview during Windows 10 rollout from x86 to x64.

  7. View Collection Dependencies

It would be really nice to be able to see a list of the collections that are limited to a specific collection with a tab on the properties of that collection.

  8. Delete Collection UI Issue

When an administrative user who does not have permission to delete resources tries to delete a collection, the confirmation UI displayed reads as though the resources WILL be deleted due to the missing checkbox. Perhaps changing the UI so that the checkbox is there but grey'd out as unchecked or remove the "Delete each collection member from the database" text.

  9. Maintenance window start date regression in 1606 - year 1970

We have a 5-minute, non-recurring maintenance window starting 1/1/1970 1:00 AM configured on several critical device collections to prevent reboots due to accidentally-configured deployments - and this worked as of SCCM 1511. In 1606 though, when I try to edit that maintenance window, I receive an un-handled ArgumentOutOfRangeException (Value should be between 'MinDate' and 'MaxDate').

Creating a new maintenance window starting 1/1/1971 1:00 AM (the UI won't even allow you to set 1970, it'll just flip it back to the previous value) and deleting the older one works, but this is certainly a bug. I don't know yet if other…
