  2. Add a tab to view Collection Membership

Instead of having to open the properties of a collection to view Membership Rules, we can view within the tabs. When you highlight a collection, you can view the collection membership rules (Query Based Rule and include/exclude collections) on the tabs below next to Summary, Deployments, Custom Client Settings.

Allow Active Directory Distribution Lists to be Targeted for Deployments in Collections as a Group Resource. Currently AD DLs are not able to be targeted, just AD Security Groups are able to be targeted.

Allow for the ability to create a collection/query based on computers that can install a specific driver using hardware IDs collected and match against compatible hardware IDs in the driver inf file. This would help to determine what drivers are compatible with what computers in a more efficient way. Then deploy the driver package to those computers to update (using devcon.exe or similar). Third party driver management (through updates catalogs) are still storage hungry and cumbersome. This would be a very effective solution.

  7. SCCM Device Collection Query Rule Check

When creating or modifying a device collection using a query rule can SCCM include an option to provide an output of the results before applying. Maybe it could open in Monitoring > Queries to show the results and then once verified the Apply button can be clicked. This could prevent a mis-configured query resulting in deployments to devices that were added inadvertently. It could also reduce a step from having to create an actual query and then importing that query.

  8. Server Groups - Non Clustered Servers

Can we increase the functionality of the Server Groups feature on collections to allow us to control non-clustred servers

For example, when patching I have a collection for Hyper-V hosts, but want to ensure that onyl one Host is down at any one time, and not all of them at once!

  9. From a deployed software, be able to go directly to the collection

Many of us has a legacy environment that we have to take care of. And most of the time it is a messy looking SCCM in our hands.

This does cause issues at times when the previous admin did set up far too many collections and it is quite time consuming when you try to figure out where this collection is located in SCCM in about 50 sub-folders (make it 100 with user and device collections).

It would be nice if we could right-click on the collection that a software is deployed to, and select "Go to collection" and it…

  10. Create device collection from search results

It would be nice to be able to easily create a device collection from search results, such as the search results from clicking a section of pie chart in Office 365 Client Management for instance. When you click on a section of pie chart, it takes you to Assets and Compliance and creates a search under devices. It would be nice to right click on that search result and have a choice to Create Collection from Results.

  12. Choose subfolder when creating a new collection from the right-click menu

When you use the right click menu to add a user or device to a new collection (which opens the wizard to create a new collection), it defaults to the root collection node. We manage our collections with multiple folders and sub-folders, and it would make management easier if we could change the location where the new collection will be created instead of tracking it down after creation and manually moving it to the desired location.

  13. Maintenance Windows for select applactions

Apply Maintenance Windows to Select applications. Example you have a collection of machines that have VPN client installed. You apply Maintenance window to enforce updates at night while ensuring that it doesn't during the day.

As the same time this machine is part of another collection that has applications you don't mind it updating in the middle of the day.

  14. SCCM Collection Alert

Add a Collection Alert that allows you to generate an alert if Collection Membership falls below threshold (% or Count).

This will be useful, for example, if we have a pilot group collection that isn't dynamic and machines get removed because they were replaced and don't get put back in the collection. This way we know that more device resources need to be added to the collection.

  15. Maintenance Windows to allow Exploit Guard Settings

Provide additional option for Exploit Guard in drop-down list of Maintenance Windows in addition to the existing options (Software Updates, Task Sequences, All).

As the existing Maintenance Windows restrict Exploit Guard Settings to be applied unless ALL or no Maintenance Window is configured. This means that instant changes cannot be applied if the organisation has maintenance windows defined. If a new maintenance window is created with ALL settings then it can lead to reboots and Software updates applying to Windows 10 devices as well.

  16. Allow export of Collection queries to a Query

We, like many institutions, have experienced "Collection Creep", over the years, that is, we have accumulated many collections which are no longer necessary for software distribution. The logic used in these collections however is still valid and can occasionally be useful, so it would be very handy if we could simply export the logic to a query, which could then be run as required. It could be designed so that an include or exclude could also include the logic from those collections, and restricted to only work on Query-based collections.

  18. Have Server Groups also apply to Software Distribution, OSD, and Compliance Settings remediation, in the same way as Maintenance Windows

Presently, we have to have separate maintenance windows for each node of a cluster to prevent them from rebooting at the same time. I got excited when I noticed the Server Groups feature and thought we might finally be able to ditch the separate maintenance windows, but it turns out Server Groups only apply to Software Updates only.

If I were to move away from using separate maintenance windows and implement Server Groups instead (which I really want to), there would be nothing stopping someone from creating an app deployment or a program which reboots both nodes of a cluster…

  19. Allow using SMS_R_USER and SMS_R_SYSTEM together when making query-based collections.

If you try to write a query to generate a collection that attempts to cross reference objects between the SMS_R_USER & SMS_R_SYSTEM databases, you will get an error.

This prevents you from being able to create a collection of systems based on the last user that logged onto a machine. It's also just frustrating.

  20. Extend functionality of Device Categories

Allow for multiple Device Categories per device and provide a PowerShell cmd-let to assign category(s) to devices. This would allow categories to represent 'business rules' and allow automatic assignment of devices to collections based on one or more categories. i.e. "Production" and "Application1". This would be very useful for interfacing with external systems that automatically create/deploy machines, such as HPSA or VRA/VRO.
