  1. SCCM collections management via Active Directory groups

Under our main domain (.com) are subdomains (de..com). Under those subdomains are created groups which consider local computer objects. These subdomain groups are members of group in our main domain.

We run SCCM query which detects computers objects in the main domain and fill those computers into specific SCCM collection.

Our issue is, that if we run a full "Active Directory Group Discovery" and Active Directory downtime, then computers are automaticaly removed from SCCM collection.

We want to prevent a full "Active Directory Group Discovery" removing computers object from SCCM collections if Active Directory subdomains services are unavailable.

  2. Add Roslyn/SQL Parser support for WQL query

There are many ideas around this, however existing mature Roslyn/SQL Parser stack is easy to implement. We do not need a full IDE but at least syntax highlighting, autocomplete, line numbers, auto-indentation, tooltips for descriptions for WMI classes and other built-in features etc.

We can assume that more like SQL Server Management Studio, PowerShell ISE or LINQPad yet only a subset of the features.

Also it would be great if we can treat enabled WMI Classes as references in a C# project. So that the scripting environment can warn the user to enable a WMI class before using it in…

  3. Collections for machines that don't get any deployments except OS updates.

We have digital signage that is W7 runs a java app and that's it. It is in the main collection for our company. When we push installs around we have to make sure we have this collection set as an exclusion in all 400 of our deployments. I'd like an option or let's discuss the best way that says, all this software for normal operations goes to the company, maybe it gets deployed by our HQ without local control, but we don't want ANY software going to these machines ALWAYS except for OS updates. Digital signage doesn't need app updates…

  4. Collection membership history for Client Computers

It would be great to be able to see the membership history of individual client computers. This way we can check to see why certain deployments happened in the past. Personally have had this situation where we get a deployment to a PC mistakenly but the PC was removed from the collection so we have no evidence to report on why the deployment took place.

  6. SMP not properly detected as LOCAL during MDT OSD

We are running 1710 and we have the following issue.
The client is in the same boundary group as the DP and SMP (Same host).
The client properly initiates the OSD from the local DP but once it tries to detect the SMP, it fails to see it as LOCAL (shows it as REMOTE).

To overcome this issue, we found two workarounds but this needs to be fixed.

    1. Remove the Failback Boundary Groups from the Boundary Group
      OR

    2. Add the Primary Site Server to the Boundary group Site System Servers

Both of the above are breaking architecture so this should…

  7. Maintenance Windows for select applactions

Apply Maintenance Windows to Select applications. Example you have a collection of machines that have VPN client installed. You apply Maintenance window to enforce updates at night while ensuring that it doesn't during the day.

As the same time this machine is part of another collection that has applications you don't mind it updating in the middle of the day.

  8. Direct membership rule

As like Direct membership rule in adding machine to the collection, it would be nice if we have any rule for excluding single machines from the collection.

  9. maintenace window

Inverted maintenance windows / blackout windows

Allow maintenance window style configuration to say when any deployment CANNOT run which will take priority over a maintenance window.

  10. Right click a device to create a Device Collection based on its properties

Allow a Right Click option on a single device to access the properties of that device (e.g, OS version, hardware type, installed software) and then select certain properties to automatically create a Device Collection based on those properties.

It would build a SQL query as would happen when you create a Collection today, but to have Config Manager fill in the bits you don't know would be great.

Like do I need OSVersion.Caption or .BuildNumber or .whatever? I just could pull the properties straight out of an existing device.

  11. Add "Right Click > Create Collection" to Boundaries and BG's

It would be awesome if I could right click a Boundary or Boundary Group and create a queried collection off of it.

For instance, we have satellite clinics where we have boundaries for each floor (ED, Urgent Care, etc). It would be awesome to be able to quickly create a collection based on that range

  12. Provide ability to define default settings for Collections

Wouldn't it be nice to have like a "Template" which is used when the Create Collection wizard runs. The template for example could have prefix (like SD - for sofware distribution), a default Collection Update interval, the abiltiy to disable incremental updates when used etc...

  13. Show the collections a device is a member of

    Hello,

I would also like you to put in the columns the collection option where when I do a search of a machine the information you give me is using but does not tell me which collection this machine would facilitate much information search

  14. User/Device Collection Import Feature

I would like to see a feature in the Configuration Manager console, similar to downloading a template in Office apps, for User and Device Collections. Adding a way for the community to also share collections in this repository would be nice as well.

  16. Have “Last Boot Time/date” option available to pick for a column when you’re in Devices or Device Collections.

Have “Last Boot Time/date” option available to pick for a column when you’re in Devices and/or when you have Sub device collections.

  17. Have preview button when building collections

When building collections (particularly query collections) it would be handy to be able to preview the devices/users in the collection as written before you commit. Today we have to edit the collection, update membership, refresh then confirm that the membership is correct. If you have a button inside of "Edit Query Statement" it would save a lot of hassle.

  19. Add "Exclude" option to Context menu

For example, I have a query that populates a device collection based on certain things.
This can be valid for a user collection based on department.
However, if I want to exclude just a couple of computers or users, maybe it would make sense to view all the members of the collection, right click on the ones I want excluded and then "Exclude" them, instead of adding exclusions one at a time or different workarounds.

  20. Join Collections

It would be useful to be able to create collections based on the common membership of two other collections, directly from the "Add Rule" button (see attached). This would effectively be an inner join of two or more collections. This option could simply be called "Join Collections".

Of course, this can be achieved using queries within the collection, however doing this at the collection level (instead of within a query) would allow us to create more complex collections much more quickly.

Overall this is a quick efficiency improvement.
