This can be done today w/ #SCCM 1802 (and previous versions too). I will mark started… and watch comments for why this doesn’t just work… before I mark this straight up completed…

    Steps:
    1) On the CAS (or standalone primary), go to Administration → Hierarchy Configuration → Discovery methods
    2) right click on Active Directory System Discovery and bring up the Properties form. Active Directory Attributes tab, and then click on Custom. In the form that appears, type the name of the attribute. Click OK, and make sure you have added it as an attribute to discover. Run discovery after exiting properties form.
    3) Now when you go to the Devices view and right click on a device and go to its Properties form, you will see the new attribute showing up there.

  2. Fix Active Directory Discovery Attribute <Not Set> Bug

When an optional AD attribute has been selected for inclusion in AD discovery, if that attribute has a value at time of discovery, it is included in the discovery and reflected as part of the information for the user/computer/group object in CM. If that AD attribute is later cleared (changed to <not set> / NULL value in AD), discovery identifies that the attribute is a NULL value and purposely skips it from the discovery. As such, the user/computer/group object in AD falls out of sync with the AD attributes and continues to report the value even though it has beenā€¦

  3. Manage and Disable Business Hours via Client Settings

Currently you cannot manage business hours within the console using Client Settings. We should be able to set defaults, prevent users from modifying them, and disable them altogether. Our servers do not need business hours and in a highly virtualized environment we can see a global CPU spike at 10 PM when the default Business Hours end.

  4. Improve PC lifecycle management feature

ConfigMgr should have better PC lifecycle management.

    E.g. following features:
    - Recognize potential devices that are removed from the network e.g. devices that are removed/disabled from AD, not active within ConfigMgr
    - When removing a device from ConfigMgr, the device should be removed also from AD/Intune/CMDB. There should be a way to provide a custom command to remove the device from 3rd party CMDB
    - Create a workflow with multiple conditions and steps with optional approval

  5. Add hardware inventory information to Devices view as selectable column

Make information from hardware inventory a selectable column in the Devices overview list.
    IS-Situation:
The selectable column list is limited and does not include some very useful information.
    SHOULD-Situation:
We should be able to select all inventoried fiels as a selectable column.
Use cases for us would be:
    - Show Operation System "pretty" value (at the moment, there is NT Workstation X.Y, but we want "Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise 1709").
    - Show serial number of the OEM.
    - Show device model of OEM.
    - etc.

  6. Ability to rename PCs from the console

Can the ability to rename a PC from the console be added? Currently, I have had to modify the right click tools addon to be able to do this.

  7. Better Reporting for installed software

Software normalization built into SCCM reporting. An integrated solution to manage software inventory, software intelligence and license management. As a SCCM administrator it has been difficult to provide accurate reporting on installed software packages without purchasing third party normalization tools like BDNA or SNOW. Software normalization capabilities would be a great addition to SCCM.
    1. Software Recognition Service that recognizes software requiring a license.
    2. Software title normalization.
    3. Ability to import all owned software licenses and then compare against what is actually installed.
    4. Ability to recognize when software has been removed or upgraded. Example: if Office 2010 hasā€¦

  8. Console -- Start -- client ping / mstsc with FQDN

Make clients Calls like Ping / MSTAC witrh FQDN and not with Netbios. We have different AD connected to the SCCM . We can not use the build in features like Ping the clients or open RDP as the console only tries the netbios name and not the fqdn. It would be great to have all cleints call done trought FQDN

  9. Add the ability to add registry keys to the hardware inventory from the console

Add the ability to extend the hardware inventory to include registry keys simply by browsing and selecting the relevant keys, similar to the current functionality for adding WMI objects through the client settings in the console. This would avoid the need to use 3rd party tools such as regkeytomof and hacking the configuration.mof file.

  10. Display Last Logon Timestamp discovery data for ALL devices in console, not just clients

The lastLogonTimestamp attribute is collected during System Discovery from Active Directory. A column for displaying Last Logon Timestamp is available on device views, but only displays the lastLogonTimestamp data for devices where Client = Yes even though the data is there for devices where Client = No. (See attached screenshot from CM CB 1611)

Making a collection of "Discovered but Needs Client" devices is common during initial client deployment and while trying to get to 100% client ***********. The lastLogonTimestamp data is very useful when trying to identify devices to focus on because they've been seen by AD recently.

  11. power management - shutdown/reboot/logoff

Implement a scheduled poweroff/reboot/logoff functionality so we don't depend on implementing it ourselves or 3rd party tools. I would imagine that we would be able to, per collection, schedule a daily/weekly/monthly reboot/shutdown/log off but allowing the user to post-pone x number of times if they are using the machine, etc..

  12. Details pane for users and devices should show collection memberships

In devices screen, when we select a computer, all collections the computer is member of, should be listed in the below pane.
Also, this feature should be available for users in users screen

  13. Add serial number as possible unique identifier

Currently only MAC and UUID are possible as unique identifier. I understand this is because these are the only ones sent using PXE deployments. However nowadays MAC is not necceserily unique anymore (USB to LAN adapters), so it would be nice to be able to use the machine serial number as unique identifier when booting from a USB stick for example

  15. Scope Folders: Ability to hide folders to users by Scopes

The ability to make a Folder visible to people in the correct Security Scope. We can currently hide collections that are in the Folders, by using Scopes, but users see the folders still.

  16. Advanced Security Audit and User Affinity

Please update SCCM to support the audit events generated using Advanced Security Audit instead of just the classic audit settings. SCCM should automatically detect the audit regime in use and look for the appropriate audit entries. SCCM should be able to manage user affinity for both Advanced audit and classic audit scenarios. Also remember that in many companies or projects, the people managing SCCM is not the same people managing GPOs.

  17. Control Software Inventory Throttling in Client Settings

Add the ability to control software inventory throttling to the client settings, in order to let admins decide to turn off throttling (without compiling a MOF).

  18. Sorting by the Icon column should sort the different states, especially with device online/offline

Currently, when you sort by the Icon column, the items with the same state icon don't end up sorted together for some reason. With the device online/offline icons now in the console, this is an especially good time to finally fix this issue that goes back to CM12 RTM.

  19. SQL Editions Inventory

Add granular reporting information to the default Hardware Inventory mof for SQL Server editions.

Currently the installed software tables just show SQL is installed with no detailed data on edition or versioning. This impacts the reporting data taken by our assets and licensing team, for instance a server with the SQL studio tools can show in this report and be incorrectly assigned a license from the pool.

We do use a custom mof file to get this information separately but would be beneficial to have the data natively in one table for ease of use and remove extra workloads.

  20. Add ability to add notes/properties to a given computer/server in SCCM console

It would be nice to be able to add a note to a asset in the sccm console. For instance, something like "this server is running so and so application and cannot have the sccm client installed. Call so and so if you have any questions." The data of course would be available as an optional column to view in the console. Maybe have user defineable data points that can become properties of the computer even though it may not have the client installed.
