  1. Create a new category for MUI / Language packs in asset intelligence

In asset Intelligence, MUI for an office application belongs to the same category as the application itself. So, when you list applications per category, you will receive a lot of extra records related to MUI that are not really useful. (ea: E-Mail and collaboration will return entries like Office 2013 MUI) Assigning MUI to a specify category will ease filtering.

  2. Warranty Info

Currently there are scripts out there that can get warranty information, but HP for example seem to change the layout of their site that you have to reconfigure the scripts. It would be nice if Microsoft worked with the various vendors to be able to consistently retrieve that data.

  3. End of Life

A good feature to include is the ability to scan a server/workstation and find software that is at or nearing end of life state.

  4. Import single Computerinfo <> MAC-Adress

On the Computerinfo-Dialog the only field that is not copy/past-enabled is the MAC-Adress field. Its not a Big Problem but every time i need to use it its not realy nice to write the compleate mac-adress by hand.

  5. Hardware Inventory for User Profiles

Since ConfigMgr is now more user centric, it would be nice if user specific settings(registry) are discoverable via Hardware Inventory ( or a new inventory function. I would not consider this a DCM as we are looking to query and report on the data that is on the users profile vs a DCM which checks for compliance. Example would be something like if a user has a proxy set, what is it. Another example would be discovering all the trusted sites a user has configured. This would help us identify sites that we may need to include in a GPOā€¦

  6. power management - shutdown/reboot/logoff

Implement a scheduled poweroff/reboot/logoff functionality so we don't depend on implementing it ourselves or 3rd party tools. I would imagine that we would be able to, per collection, schedule a daily/weekly/monthly reboot/shutdown/log off but allowing the user to post-pone x number of times if they are using the machine, etc..

  7. Software metering per collection

in a service provider environment (ie. share infrastructure between companies), having the software metering enabled by site as opposite per collection can cause an extra network flow (ie. company 1 needs to monitor outlook.exe while company 2 mozilla.exe).

current software will force all clients to look for outlook.exe as well as mozilla.exe and this could cause performance issue, this also could be a security issue as the information of the monitoring software is stored on the client computer and if the client is monitoring the execution of a software that will be launched, this info will also be available toā€¦

  8. Reverse how automatic software metering rules are created. It is backward.

The "Automatically create disabled metering rules" in Software Metering Properties should be "Specify the percentage of computers WITHOUT the software" rather than "Specify the percentage of computers that have the software".

Because of the way corporations license software we don't care about metering the items that 70% or more of the company has on their machines (the way the rules are currently set up to be created) we care about the software that is used on 60% or less of the computers.

The current calculation method for automatically creating software metering rules just clutters it up with rules for thingsā€¦

  9. Develop a report for devices within a collection that DO NOT have specific software installed

It would be very useful to have a built in report that shows devices with details and primary user information for computers in a collection that do NOT have specific software installed. Currently we need to make a collection of target devices (based on OU for example) with software x installed, then another collection of those same target device, and add an exclude collection rule pointing to the first collection... it's difficult to explain that to basic operators and would be nice to have a built in report that does that for us.

  10. Console -- Start -- client ping / mstsc with FQDN

Make clients Calls like Ping / MSTAC witrh FQDN and not with Netbios. We have different AD connected to the SCCM . We can not use the build in features like Ping the clients or open RDP as the console only tries the netbios name and not the fqdn. It would be great to have all cleints call done trought FQDN

  11. True metering of an Application, but not an exe

Excellent work in adding new features in SCCM 2012.
Current model of metering thru exe, though works to an extent, it has flaws and doesn't offer needed confidence or trust to business about actual metering of an application as its limited to an exe. If possible, I request Microsoft to research on allowing SCCM admin to select an application, in backend SCCM converts that to all related exe for metering on clients and then monitor only installed application of those group of exe. Its note easy and throw some challenges but I trust and for experts at MS, nothing isā€¦

This can be done today w/ #SCCM 1802 (and previous versions too). I will mark started… and watch comments for why this doesn’t just work… before I mark this straight up completed…

    Steps:
    1) On the CAS (or standalone primary), go to Administration → Hierarchy Configuration → Discovery methods
    2) right click on Active Directory System Discovery and bring up the Properties form. Active Directory Attributes tab, and then click on Custom. In the form that appears, type the name of the attribute. Click OK, and make sure you have added it as an attribute to discover. Run discovery after exiting properties form.
    3) Now when you go to the Devices view and right click on a device and go to its Properties form, you will see the new attribute showing up there.

  14. Add some usefullness to the Asset Intelligence

Provide some usefulness to create reports, pull uninstall information, possibly allow a simple right-click create uninstall package from software in the Inventoried Software List. Currently this is a mostly useless item as all it does is show the install count, does not even list the devices that have something installed.

  15. Better Reporting for installed software

Software normalization built into SCCM reporting. An integrated solution to manage software inventory, software intelligence and license management. As a SCCM administrator it has been difficult to provide accurate reporting on installed software packages without purchasing third party normalization tools like BDNA or SNOW. Software normalization capabilities would be a great addition to SCCM.
    1. Software Recognition Service that recognizes software requiring a license.
    2. Software title normalization.
    3. Ability to import all owned software licenses and then compare against what is actually installed.
    4. Ability to recognize when software has been removed or upgraded. Example: if Office 2010 hasā€¦

  16. Internet Explorer version report

An out of the box report on IE versions would be very helpful, whether in the Software - Companies and Products group of reports, or elsewhere.

  17. Hardware Inventory may collect Performance Data

With hardware inventory or another option, SCCM collect and sumarize data from performance monitor. The SCCM agent can start and stop the Performance Monitor.

  18. Make it easier to get Hardware and Software Inventory

It should be much easier for getting inventory of hardware and software. There are so many good inventory tools out there and SCCM just fail on that part.

  19. Put beside the device name the related user of the device for Reports, Lists,....

Put beside the device name the related user of the device (Primary User) for reports, lists, views, dialogs....

For us it is always good to see that relation fast. So an option to add here and there the column for the primary user) will be very heklpful.

  20. Wake On LAN returns machine to previous state after a customisable time period.

It's great to be able to wake a machine up from Power Off or Hibernate to deploy software but being able to specify a time to stay awake before returning to the previous state would be great.

If I wake my client fleet at 0300 for a deployment which takes (say) 15 minutes, it is a waste of power to leave 2000 machines awake after the deployment.
