  1. SQL Editions Inventory

Add granular reporting information to the default Hardware Inventory mof for SQL Server editions.

Currently the installed software tables just show SQL is installed with no detailed data on edition or versioning. This impacts the reporting data taken by our assets and licensing team, for instance a server with the SQL studio tools can show in this report and be incorrectly assigned a license from the pool.

We do use a custom mof file to get this information separately but would be beneficial to have the data natively in one table for ease of use and remove extra workloads.

  2. Provide an option to mention a path for executable for software metering rules

Provide an option to mention a path for executable for software metering rules.
The software metering rule only allows us to mention file name and version. This becomes a problem when there are multiple applications with same executable name. Also, for applications (like Autodesk Navisworks) that have different modules installed at different locations and have the same file name & version, it is impossible to track usage for individual models for billing. It would be great to have an option to specify a matching path for the executable file in the rule.

  3. max mif size

The Max Mif Size should be increased from 5MB to a default of 50 MB. We know that the average size is now more than default of 5 MB. Admin needs to increase it in order to ensure up-to-date inventory within SCCM.

  4. Change hard coded limit for HW inventory mif files.

There is a hard limit of 50 MBs for Hardware inventory set within the data loader for MIF file. If you enabled AI classes to collect more data by SCCM, it is not unusual for these computers to hit this hard-coded limit. This causes an endless loop of resyncs being performed by SCCM clients. the resync then consumes network bandwidth and processing time on the client/MP/etc. It is not until it hit the Data loader that these MIF files are rejected and ultimately a resync occurs to start the whole process over. The hard code limes should be increased toā€¦

  5. Seperate removal of users and computers

Currently the Delete Aged Discovery Data combines Users and Computers so they are tied to the same aging process for removal. My preference would be to have 1 week for disabled users and stick with our 180 days for computers. We are a fairly large company and go through a lot of users. So we end up with a lot of disabled users still in SCCM which makes finding information we need very tough. We have a lot of computers that go off line for a while so we don't want to delete them too soon since it is ourā€¦

  6. Send Message to Device user to accept connection

Send Message to Device user to accept the remote Connection.
Users are rejecting the request as they are unaware of the connection requirement. So if we need to send a message explaining why he should accept request.

  7. Filter Asset Intelligence by collection

Asset Intelligence shows information for all the devices registered in SCCM, even though the user running the console can only see a subset of devices (i.e., via RBAC scope). Due to the fact that different console users need to see different Asset Intelligence data, it should be very nice they had a dropdown list to select the collections, or just show the devices based on their scope, similarly to the "\Monitoring\Overview\Security\Endpoint Protection Status\System Center Endpoint Protection Status" node. Thanks

  8. Maximize the properties of a device collection or device

Maximize the properties of a device collection or device in the console to full screen to see Deployments and Membership rules without scrolling.

  9. Scope Folders: Ability to hide folders to users by Scopes

The ability to make a Folder visible to people in the correct Security Scope. We can currently hide collections that are in the Folders, by using Scopes, but users see the folders still.

  10. Connect Asset Intelligence to Volume Licensing Service Center

Connect Asset Intelligence to Volume Licensing Service Center, so you don't have to manually update / import your license entitlements on a regular basis

  11. Improve PC lifecycle management feature

ConfigMgr should have better PC lifecycle management.

    E.g. following features:
    - Recognize potential devices that are removed from the network e.g. devices that are removed/disabled from AD, not active within ConfigMgr
    - When removing a device from ConfigMgr, the device should be removed also from AD/Intune/CMDB. There should be a way to provide a custom command to remove the device from 3rd party CMDB
    - Create a workflow with multiple conditions and steps with optional approval

  12. Add hardware inventory information to Devices view as selectable column

Make information from hardware inventory a selectable column in the Devices overview list.
    IS-Situation:
The selectable column list is limited and does not include some very useful information.
    SHOULD-Situation:
We should be able to select all inventoried fiels as a selectable column.
Use cases for us would be:
    - Show Operation System "pretty" value (at the moment, there is NT Workstation X.Y, but we want "Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise 1709").
    - Show serial number of the OEM.
    - Show device model of OEM.
    - etc.

  13. User Device Affinity: Temporary Assignments

We manage our systems using only usage based UDA. User defined and admin defined were not being updated regularly enough and our data got stale quickly.

We have since change to usage only UDA. Our challenge here is new devices or loaner devices do not have the applications available to the users until they meet the usage threshold.

A work-around that we have done is create a PS script to force a usage based UDA releationship between the user and the device. We assigned it to only our support staff, so users can't go installing apps on neighboring devices. Thisā€¦

  14. Making CTRL+V (Keyboard Paste) work in the "Import Computer Information" dialog

Making CTRL+V (Keyboard Paste) work in the "Import Computer Information" dialog would allow to quickly paste the MAC or the BIOS UUID, instead of having to accurately place the mouse cursor for a right-click Paste.

  15. Add Win32_DeviceGuard WMI Class

Request to add the Win32_DeviceGuard WMI Class into Configuration Manager Hardware Inventory by default. This is a crucial WMI class that we can query Virtualization Based Security configurations on systems. Right now we have to manually add the class as described in the following blog:

    https://cloudblogs.microsoft.com/enterprisemobility/2015/10/30/managing-windows-10-device-guard-with-configuration-manager/

  16. Fix Active Directory Discovery Attribute <Not Set> Bug

When an optional AD attribute has been selected for inclusion in AD discovery, if that attribute has a value at time of discovery, it is included in the discovery and reflected as part of the information for the user/computer/group object in CM. If that AD attribute is later cleared (changed to <not set> / NULL value in AD), discovery identifies that the attribute is a NULL value and purposely skips it from the discovery. As such, the user/computer/group object in AD falls out of sync with the AD attributes and continues to report the value even though it has beenā€¦

  17. Management Insight: Inventories approaching and violating max MIF size

There's already a UVI for two to increase the default maximum MIF size. Regardless of the size this seems like an easy Management Insight win. Let me know if the existing limit is being violated or if some devices are starting to get close so I can investigate why. Obviously we need to determine which devices are in question.

  18. store client boundary IDs in database

A client's last reported list of boundaries and boundary groups it was part of should be stored in the database. This will allow for collections and report built around clients within a boundary or boundary group.

  19. Software-Inventory: Click on the Software to see where it is installed

It would be nice to double-click on a inventoried Software to see on which Clients this Software is installed.

  20. Inventory printers (local and network)

It would be nice if there would be a report that shows all the current printers "attached" to a user profile (local and network). Without having to reside un custom SQL scripts or custom reports (for us the people that don't know scripting or SQL)
