  1. localized description - html

it would be very helpful for the overall user experience if it would be possible to use html or any kind of formatting in the localized description.
currently the description is not shown very pleasant...

  2. Enable/Disable Feature for Application Deployments

    Enable/Disable Feature for Application Deployments
When a Deployment is created, it is Enabled by default and there is no way to Disable it. In the current state, a Deployment could get created incorrectly, resulting in a large number of computers in the company getting rebooted, unwanted software or blue screens (if its something incompatible for that platform). In SCCM 2007 we got around this by creating a "Disabled" program for each Package, then after an Advertisement was QA'd, we would associate the "Enable" Program with the Advertisement. This option is not available in 2012. Seems like a pretty simple featureā€¦

  3. Allow setting of default icons in software center

Split this item from a bigger umbrella item.
This is to allow the changing of the default icons for all task sequences, or all package / programs in software center.

  4. Make it possible to choose "Client Local Time" on all deployment types.

    1. When deploying an application as available, it will by default be set to UTC time in the scheduling section without the ability to change it to "Client Local Time"

    2. When deploying an application as required, it will by default be set to UTC time, unless I check the "installation deadline" then I get the abillity to choose "Client Local Time"

Here in Denmark and other places in Europe UTC is a bit confusing, we always have to be aware of this when deploying applications eg. I want to deploy an application for the end users at 08:00AM then I haveā€¦

  5. High Risk Deployment Configuration for applications

It would great to see the feature where collections above a certain number of members are hidden made available to the application deployment wizard, rather than just task sequences.

While applixation deployment may not be as high a risk, I'm sure it would provide a lot more reassurance for users new to SCCM and the application deployment process.

  6. Detection rule logic change in Application module

    Dear All,

we are using more than one detection rule for all our applications(script installer) that are created in our environment.

During installation, the detection rule (AND condition) works fine and we face no issues.

But there are cases when the uninstallation fails in the middle of the script, we get the message as REMOVAL FAILED in the software center, and out of 3 detection rule one or two get removed (partly uninstalled) , but not the whole application is uninstalled from the machine. And when we run the RETRY for removing the application, SCCM check for installation status basedā€¦

  7. Unicorn emoji support in the console šŸ¦„

I think itā€™s time we all agreed that there arenā€™t enough unicorns in the console. Iā€™d like to see support for unicorn emojis when Iā€™m clicking around. The good unicorns for when things are going well and the evil ones for when I messed up something and itā€™s bad.

  8. User Environment Management solution

In the Microsoft portfolio a complete User Environment Management (UEM) solution is missing. Yes, there is Group Policy + Preferences and User Environment Virtualization (UE-V), but a solution like RES One Workspace or AppSense is missing. Why's that? Lot's off customers like to have a Microsoft-only or Microsoft-unless policy, which can't be using Microsoft solutions alone.

Think about a solution which combining user settings like start menu, desktop, folder redirection, taskbar, application control, application security, license management, drive mappings and printer offering. Where delegating of control is possible. With integration in Configuration Manager, and what else you can think of.ā€¦

  9. Auto uninstall application based on Software Metering useage

Please add an option in the Application Model to auto uninstall the application after xx number of days. This could be linked to Software Metering. This would be extremely beneficial to manage applications for license reclamation as well as removing vulnerable applications from the environment.

  10. Allow for more granular OS selection in Application Requirements

Right now there is no way to distinguish between flavors of Windows 10 when configuring OS-based Application requirements. Please split it up into different OS flavors such as 1507, 1511, 1607, 1703...etc.

  11. Execute Program with least privilege

Please incorporate the option to execute a Program without elevation (least amount of privileges).

    Background:
We sometimes receive requests to automate some process via Configuration Manager. This is frequently done by creating a Package with a Program that executes a script.

    Use case:
When automating the OneDrive sync client (or various other commands / programs), a simple script works well.

    Problem:
When the same script is executed with elevation, it doesn't work as expected.
Configuration Manager elevates the session when the currently logged on user has admin privileges on the machine.
Some troubleshooting is required to find the root cause.ā€¦

  12. Automatically extract app icons from content (MSI etc.)

Current behavior is that application icons need to be specified in Application Properties. Wouldn't it be great to pull the app icon from the app content if it is available? This would save a lot of time for environments where application icons are a requirement.

  13. Application Lifecycle Management options in Console

One of the big struggles at many companies is not putting application IN SCCM, but having a proper process to retire old applications and do regular cleanup. So it would be good to have some options to automate the process when retiring applications.

    • having the content for retired applications automatically removed from all distribution points

    • having the files/folders removed from the content source location

    • having the retired applications deleted from SCCM after the cleanup completed.

I know there are some PowerShell scripts out there and console extensions but it would be nice to have this as a fully supported outā€¦

  14. Application/Package install at shutdown or startup

We can now update at shutdown/startup but we need to be able to do the same for Application/Package Deployment.

Some of our deployments require browsers or mail clients to be closed and getting the users to do this voluntarily is almost impossible.

  15. Have deployment types linked to deployments

I would like to see the ability to easily link a deployment type to a deployment. here is why with the deployments you can point them to a collection. it would be nice to be able to say, "hey i want this deployment type to go to this production collection. However, i want to test this update for this application and have the target collection be the pilot group." i know there are probably global conditions you can make to query collection membership but it seems like it would be a small task to have that simple feature to haveā€¦

  16. Office Click-to-run should be able to stream installation from Distribution Point

When deploying Office 365 via SCCM, the client downloads the entire package to its local drive, then streams the installation from the downloaded source. In our organisation we have one master source including all languages (~8GB) and the client streams only the languages it requires (as specified in the configuration.xml), SCCM should allow the clients to stream the installation directly from the Distribution Points and therefore only download the languages they need, not the entire 8GB source.

  17. Add Column in Package\Program\Deployments Tab to show assigned date and time

Add Column in Package\Program\Deployments Tab to show assigned date and time, in order of time newest to latest if multiple schedules are shown.

  18. Web Application - add icon from application catalog to icon on start menu

When you deploy a Web App, the link created on the start menu appears with the standard IE icon. Could the icon that is displayed with the Web app in the application also be applied to the shortcut on the start menu?

currently I have six webapps in my start menu all with the IE icon.

as per the end of this post - http://wmug.co.uk/wmug/b/r0b/archive/2013/10/21/system-center-2012-configuration-manager-r2-web-applications

  19. Further Customize Web Application Deployment Types

Web Application deployment types in their current incarnation are not very usable. The main issues with using them are that:

    1. There is no control over where the shortcut to the Web App gets placed; they always go to the start menu. We would like the option to put the shortcut on the desktop or in the user's favorites menu. To do this currently we have to write a script and cannot use this deployment type.

    2. The icon for the Web Application should use the icon imported into the software center. Nondescript icons make finding the application you want to launchā€¦

  20. Remove New Software is available prompt for Packages deployed as Available

It would be great if Packages deployed as Available would not prompt the user with 'New software is available' in the system tray upon login and persist until the user installs the package. We want to utilize the 'Show notifications for new deployments' setting for Windows OS/Microsoft Office updates to give the users more control of installation options, but we cannot since we have Packages available to all users for various fixes which makes this tray icon is persistent and an reported as an annoyance.
