  1. Add data access/distribution settings options to app/package creation

It would be great to have the ability to check the appropriate data access/distribution setting options from the get-go rather than having to go into the properties of each app/package and checking the appropriate boxes. Just having the options available when you create the app/package would save time.

  2. Program

A workflow system (tab) for handling application/package errors (i.e non-zero return codes) for example; I should be able to config a setting of if the package/program gets an exit code of 1025 then handle it particular way or reboot try again 1 more time.

    Suggested options could be
    - Reboot device, try again 1 more time (great for 1025 errors)
    - E-mail support team X on X failure
    - Execute package 'PackageID/ProgramID' then attempt 1 more time (great for clean up scripts)
    - Add to collection X on Y error.

  3. Add uninstall content path to the Create Deployment Type wizard

Currently, in the New Deployment Type wizard, you can only specify a single content source. Now that we can have separate content source folders for uninstall, we have to create our deployment types without specifying this then edit the deployment type and add the second content folder. Please add the content options from the deployment type properties to the initial wizard.

  4. Add support for detecting a superseding app when a superseded app is deployed

It would be nice to have an option NOT to install application A if superseding app B is detected (but not deployed).

    Scenario:
Let's say the B is being installed via OSD or outside of ConfigMgr. However there is still deployment of A to the collection where machine resides, and ConfigMgr will ultimately install A as well, probably breaking both apps.

  5. Detection rule use application source files

Sometimes you need to run an executable to detemine if the application is installed or not. For example: setup.exe /listinstalled.
today it is not possible to access the content location (mostly the cache directory) of the application.
Is it possible to allow access to the content location of the application in the detection rule?

  6. Allow Application to call Packages as a dependency

I appreciate the design is very different but it would be great if a package could be called as a dependency for an Application

  8. Prevent canceling of installation in progress by PC restart.

In application model, if we install application to pc via SoftwareCenter then user can restart in any moment during the application installation.

User can not restart if the SCCM application is doing MSI installation, that is ok.

But if it is legacy setup.exe or just a script installation (powershell, dos-batch) of an SCCM application then user is not prevented to do a restart. So he is allowed to restart PC while the installation is in progress.

It is essential to have a setting wich prevent whole computer to be restarted till the application installation is finished. Maybe simmilar way howā€¦

  9. Deployment Type with version when auto creating DT

There are multiple places where a reference to an application is only with GUID and DT name. E.g. logs.
If the DT name had version number in the name, it would easy to see what application is referenced when you have more than one version of a product and thereby more applications.

When creating an application for a Windows Installer, it would be great to have the automatic DT creation process to include the version, if provided, in the DT name.

In addition, if the creation of a script installer DT could include the names and versions from the applicationā€¦

  10. Behaviour when deleting a deployment

When deleting a deployment from the packages pane, we seem to be bounced to the deployment monitoring page.

This makes no sense to me, especially when 9 times out of 10 I'm just going to head back to the package to re-create a deployment.

  11. Inform a user when an application has been closed by an installing package

    Running 1906 with hotfix.
When using the option to "Automatically close any running executables you specified..." while deploying a product which needs an application closed, when the deadline is reached the applications are closed, but there is no notification to the user as to why. If in front of their machine, the user will then invariably re-open the application (especially if this is Outlook) which will cause the installation to fail.
I would suggest that when the application is automatically close, a message box is shown informing the user what's happened which stays on screen until the installation is complete,ā€¦

  12. Allow 'Automatically upgrade any superseded version of this application' to be configurable for required deployments

Allow 'Automatically upgrade any superseded version of this application' to be configurable for required deployments. Just like what was done for Available deployments.

  14. Only on specified client platforms filter on bit version

For many package programs I have to make two different programs one for 32 bit and another for 64 bit. Currently I have to run down the list and select the 10x 32 bit OSs and the 10x 64 bit options manually. It would be easier if we could do a one click per bit version of the OSs.

  15. Package creation empty Data Source (1706)

When creating a new package you can browse to the installation file (UNC-path). When done the package has no Data Source information. Therefore you have to browse by tab Data Source to the source location(folder) again.

In my opinion this is an unnecessary step. It should be very nice if this is solved.

  16. Retry un-installation of Pre-approved applications

Provide an WMI method to trigger un-installation of pre-approved apps remotely just like the 'RetryInstall' method released in 1905.

  19. Detection by script should evaluate by True/False

Currently script detection only returns detected if something is written to STDOUT, nothing is written to STDERR and the exit code is 0. The STRERR stream and exit code requirements aren't necessarily an issue, but requiring something in STDOUT seems strange. Returning True/False is more intuitive, and would be more consistent with the built-in detection methods.
