  1. When removing an application or package that is in a task sequence

SCCM will tell you when you remove an application that it exists in a task sequence. Is it possible to have it tell you what the task sequence(s) it is in?

  2. Allow Email Approval Requests to go to Manager / Owner / Support Contact

First off - Thank-you very much for the Email approval in CM 1810.
For the first improvement request, I'd like to request it be able to be sent to Manager or Application / Support owner already identified in the application.

These 3 options would cover nearly every workflow possibility instead of a hardcoded email address.

Usually you require permission from a BA or Business owner of the application, a Technical resource (Helpdesk, etc), or your Supervisor for an application. 2 of these items are already tracked in the application, and the third is (should) populated in AD for the requestingā€¦

  3. Allow already deployed applications to be modified for email approval

Allow already deployed applications to be modified for email approval.

With 1810 you can now select to have emails sent when an application approval request is generated. That's great! However, you can only do it for applications that are deployed after the upgrade to 1810

It would be great if this functionality could be added to applications that are already deployed.,

  4. Schedule Phased Deployments

When setting up a normal (non-phased) deployment, you can schedule a date and time for the deployment to start.

Having the same ability for phased deployments would be very handy!

  5. Improve app model logging

Make it easier to troubleshoot application deployment with:
    - Consolidated log file
    - Make logging easier to understand and find the reason for failures.
For a new SCCM Admin/Tech troubleshooting appdeployment is hard, have to understand the different log files and know which one to read.

  6. Right-Click a single device or collection and Install Application/Package without additional configurations

The ability to right-click a single device, or a device collection and select an option saying "Install Application or Package". This would then allow you to deploy an application or package without having to use a collection, especially if just for one device. It would also allow you to deploy the application or package without needing to build out a deployment for that application. It will just install the selected application or package without any additional configurations needed.

How often do we need to deploy an application to just one machine that is outside of a collection, or deploy toā€¦

  7. Task Sequence tab within Applications

Within the Application information tabs such as Summary, Deployment Types and Deployments one for Task Sequences would be helpful. This would allow other SCCM Console users easily identify Apps used within Task Sequences.

  8. Ability to deploy an Applications "Incremental Test" version to certain test computers

    Scenario :
I have an application that is deployed to all computers in my environment. The live version of that application is 1.2
I then want to be able to create a new version (1.3) of THAT same application and only deploy those changes to a certain set of testcomputers.
When all testing is done I want to change the "LIVE" version of the application to 1.3 and this will automatically deploy version 1.3 to all my computers.

  9. Distribute content faster with torrent technology

Content will be broken up into many small fragments, these fragments will be distributed on all distribution points, all distribution points share these fragments among each other until all distribution points have the complete content. At the end, the content is checked for completeness by means of a checksum. This significantly increases the performance!

  10. Software License Management - The ability to block application launches via SCCM

A feature that allows for limiting launches of desired installed applications. This feature would assist in license management for software titles with concurrent usage limitations which do not have license management solutions.

  11. In the Office 365 Client Management console it would be very helpful if it would report which devices had a 32-bit versus a 64-bit install.

  12. Software Center - Group Name of Applications

Having the ability to make applications available under Applications Group Name and visually seeing the group name with the list of applications. Handy for departmental applications.

  13. Require an approval process to deploy a new Application.

We use a lot of contractor resources as surge resources for application packaging. Could you implement an approval process (similar to that of Run Scripts) that would require approval before someone could Deploy a newly created Application? This would greatly improve quality and ensure all new Applications have been reviewed to reduce the risk of an ooops.

  14. Implementing a return code to reboot with fast retry

When an application is checking for pending reboot there is no way to create a reboot with fast retry. In my scripts, I am just doing a fast retry but if the user is out of the office the script may loop for a long time. If the session is logout why not rebooting with fast retry?

  15. Allowing the windows installer file to be elsewhere in the sources subdirectory

Actually the MSI is located in the root of the source file then SCCM will be able to detect it only at the root of the source file. But if the msi is Under another directory why not be able to set that localtion?

  16. Deployment specific maintenance windows

Add an option on the User Experience tab for all deployments to specify a maintenance window that overrides all other windows and only applies to that particular deployment. The deployment should not run during any other maintenance windows available to the system if you configure this option either. This maintenance window should only be available for this deployment and not any other deployments targeted to the system.

This would be a good option if you're generally loose with your maintenance windows to allow deployments more chances to run, but if you need to restrict a particular deployment to only runā€¦

  17. SCCM Console: Add PackageID column in applications item view

Get-CMApplication shows me a PackageID for my applications. In the SCCM Console in the application item view it is not selectable.

  18. Different detection methods for install and uninstall

We need to be able to have different detection methods for install and uninstall. For large software we need to know that files x, y & z need to exist, shortcuts in the start menu and uninstall entry in the registry. That will be the install detection. All of this needs to be true. But for uninstall we need to know if any of those are still there. The differens is "and" (for install) and "or" (for uninstall).

Detection should also be possible by a ps1-file in the source folder.

  19. ccmsetup

Dont allow to start application installation if CCMSetup.exe is in progress.
    Example:
    1. PC is waiting on Maintenance window at Monday 4:00.
    2. Monday 4:00 starts ccmsetup tu upgrade ccmclient (MSIInstaller is in use)
    3. Monday 4:00 starts also SCCM Application to install (Installation fails with 1601 because MSIInstaller is in use by ccmsetup->client.msi)

Step 2 and 3 should not happend asynchronous.

  20. Add option to wait for all child processes when installing new application

Add an option to wait for all child processes of the Installation program when creating an Application Deployment Type. This should function similarly to the -Wait option in PowerShell's Start-Process function.
