  1. Performing Uninstall of depended applications when necessary

Sometimes it happens that you have 3 or 4 different application depended one on another. In current application model is capable install these dependencies. Which works perfect.

But uninstall... When it comes to uninstall, the dependencies of the application, are left back. It is for sure that we do not want to uninstall .Net FW or C++ runtime because we just removed one application. But how about in a dependencies just specific to that application. These depended applications are not user by any other application. So why not we cannot remove them. When we use application model, the information toā€¦

  2. Allow Changing In-use Global Conditions

Currently, a Global Condition cannot be changed or deleted if it is in use in any existing revision of an application. This makes testing a new global condition or fixing an existing global condition extremely cumbersome, either resulting in many duplicates being created or many revisions of the application being deleted every time the global condition must be changed.

While it is beneficial to make it difficult to break an existing application by preventing the global condition from changing, ultimately, SCCM users need the freedom to determine when it is appropriate to change an existing Global Condition on their own.

  3. Universal Application Upgrade Deployment

Current universal apps require older version app should not be running on client computer when you deployed upgrade package to clients.

When you deploy upgrade to clients old version running deployments failing with error "Resource already in use".

Customers trying to use wrapper programs to terminate running process. Instead of wrapper program Configuration Manager should be handle the process termination.

  4. Allow to skip maintenance window for superseded appliciations made available to user collections

Currently when a superseding application is deployed to a user collection I can enable the option "Automatically upgrade any superseded versions of this application". With this option set I'm able to specify a scheduling for the deployment. But the option to allow the installation or maybe the system restart outside the maintenance windows is greyed out.

Would be nice to have the option to skip the maintenance windows for this type of deployment as well.

  5. Automatically extract app icons from content (MSI etc.)

Current behavior is that application icons need to be specified in Application Properties. Wouldn't it be great to pull the app icon from the app content if it is available? This would save a lot of time for environments where application icons are a requirement.

  6. Show icon set for an application in admin console

Applications can have a custom icon set for them. Applications listed in the SCCM Admin Console have an "icon", but it's the same generic one for every application. Would love to see the icon I set in admin console next to each app for easy identification.

  7. Trigger Hardware Inventory After Installing Applications

Many ConfigMgr administrators set aggressive hardware inventory cycles for their client citing the need to keep an up-to-date inventory for the applications installed on their company's assets. Aggressive inventory cycles can obviously have a negative impact on site performance, and very often is unnecessary as there are frequently no changes to the inventory. Administrators can perform a work around by using wrappers or run additional programs to initiate a hardware inventory post install, however this causes an administrative overhead to installing applications.

I propose adding an option to application/package deployments that would trigger a hardware inventory after a successful installation.ā€¦

  8. We need an Event based deployment versus Time based deployment

Please put in Event based deployment versus Time based deployment based on file/registry/Event log change. The deployment date should be used as the absolute earliest the event could take place. The expiration date should still hold true.

The action could possibly happen on a single device, but need to occur to devices within a boundary/collection.

The usage scenario is when a computer device is being used in a 24 hour retail setting, and the maintenance window is dependent on when the retail location determines a time in which it can take such action. The retail store may only have aā€¦

  9. Reboot Behavior for Application Deployment

I experienced strange reboot behavior for application deployment.

I wrote detailed information on TechNet Forums post: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/fc7e6886-8d24-439f-a8d8-3f68b633f528/reboot-behavior?forum=configmanagerapps.

  11. Add clietn settings option to disable software distribution (apps and packages)

We can turn off software updates, hw inventory, sw inventory, and even the ability to remote control with the client, but there isn't a way to easily disable software deployments (application and packages). In healthcare, we have machines that we cannot patch so we turn off the update component as an added layer of protection. We also have systems we do not want software deployed to as well and there are ways to try and prevent targeting, just turning off that component on the client would be much easier with a client setting option.

  12. Combine all portals into one universal portal

There is so many different portals.

1- Company portal app for Config manager.
    2- Software Center
    3- New software center
    4- Apple catalog

Reason: it is way to complicated for users to decide which one to use

Ask: create one universal portal that does all 4 is capable of doing

  13. Process elevation in User Context

"Run as Administrator" will elevate using the System Context.
Elevation of an installation or whatnot should be allowed to be elevated within User Context, even though User would not have Administrator rights on the computer. There are 3rd party tools available to fix this for elevation. Microsoft should be able to fix this in SCCM.

  14. Add "Run As" to Applications

Similar to the Task Sequence "Run this step as the following account". Please add this to application installations as well. We have some "difficult to package" applications that require a user profile in order to install successfully. These applications fail to install as an application because when running as the system there is no user profile path. As a result, we have to resort to task sequences to install these which results in a worse end user experience.

  15. Automate packaging, integrate package management/oneget

It would be nice if you could automate packaging process with selected software. Maybe you could use package management/oneget as source and create example newest Adobe flash package in one command. There could be community based recipes where you could download packaging process.

Autopkg and munki on OS X uses this kind of technique and it have helped me with Basic packages. Https://github.com/autopkg/autopkg

  16. Add Options to Deployment Type (Application Model) or Deployment to Allow Filtering

When deploying an application to a user based collection (or computer for that matter), it would be nice to be able to filter the deployment based on criteria such as operating system WITHOUT the need to create a second application. Similar to how the requirements section of the application model works but deployment specific.

    Proposed Solution 1
Create a requirements or filter for deployments similar to how filters work on group policy objects. Essentially you would be given the option during a deployment to filter the installation ā€“ so if those requirements arenā€™t met the deployment doesnā€™t take place.

  17. Application priority not respected

When you define the deployments in the application you can define several and SCCM would use them by priority but when you define with option "only when a user is logged on' and another with option "whether or not a user is logged on'. This deployment can't be selected in the task sequence! To work arround this bug we have to create the same application 2 times, 1 for the task sequence and 1 for normal deployment.

  18. Role Based Control : Enhance the Ability to Add SuperSedence using RBA

Currently under the Role Base Access, if you have full control to an application, and wish to add SuperSedence to an application the User only has read access to, you are unable to do that. The ability to do this is currently available when adding a dependency on an existing app the user only has read rights to.

  19. Network access account password is visible

    Hi,

The below link mention that Network access account is visible with a few line of codes:

    http://myitforum.com/myitforumwp/2015/05/11/network-access-accounts-are-evil/

Wondering if this is true ?

Is there a better way to deploy software application to non-domain workgroup computer without using network access account ?

Or let the user of non-domain workgroup computer login using their domain account and make the software application available to them upon login.

Some users might be using home edition Windows OS or overseas and cannot join to internal domain server.

  20. App-V 5 Deployment Type publishing option

App-V 5 Deployment Type should have the option per-deployment type of how the App-V 5 package is installed (per-machine, per-user or determined by target)

    Allow for this would offer;
    1. Consistency of options between deployment types (same as for MSI..)
    2. Ensuring a consistent application deployment which will ease admin management (decrease management overhead when removing the application as a sample)
    3. Allow to control deployment type based on end-point, not target collection.
    4. By allowing admins to set per-machine publishing a fully functional application can be ensured, which would leverage all integration points (not possible when using per-user publishing).
