  1. We need an Event based deployment versus Time based deployment

Please put in Event based deployment versus Time based deployment based on file/registry/Event log change. The deployment date should be used as the absolute earliest the event could take place. The expiration date should still hold true.

The action could possibly happen on a single device, but need to occur to devices within a boundary/collection.

The usage scenario is when a computer device is being used in a 24 hour retail setting, and the maintenance window is dependent on when the retail location determines a time in which it can take such action. The retail store may only have a…

  2. Move all (or selected) deployments from one application to another

It would be nice to have the ability to move all deployments (or selectively chosen ones [CTRL + Click]) from one application to another using a menu accessible by right clicking any of the selected deployments and choosing the new application to move the deployments to and automatically removing the deployments from the original application.

  3. add application catalogue install report

It would be useful to be able to have a default report created which shows the total number of software installed through the catalogue method. This would be useful when reporting back to management the amount of time saved through end users installing themselves, rather than time spent pushing out, amending collections, or manually installing.

  4. Role Based Control : Enhance the Ability to Add SuperSedence using RBA

Currently under the Role Base Access, if you have full control to an application, and wish to add SuperSedence to an application the User only has read access to, you are unable to do that. The ability to do this is currently available when adding a dependency on an existing app the user only has read rights to.

  6. Automate packaging, integrate package management/oneget

It would be nice if you could automate packaging process with selected software. Maybe you could use package management/oneget as source and create example newest Adobe flash package in one command. There could be community based recipes where you could download packaging process.

Autopkg and munki on OS X uses this kind of technique and it have helped me with Basic packages. Https://github.com/autopkg/autopkg

  7. Give the users control to schedule application installation on "Application Catalog"

When a user select an application to install, there are no way to permit them to control the best schedule to an application be installed (like their lunch time).

Some users tell me that could to be much better for the productivity and practicity.

  8. SMART download on Software Uninstallation

Application Chains currently download EVERY application before evaluating if "uninstallation" of older version in the chain are necessary.

Instead.. only download the Final Installation source. then evaluate if older versions "need" to be uninstalled.. (by looking at the detection methods.. and the "uninstall" preferences..

If needed.. download the entire chain of software uninstallation sources.. (...the current behavior)... else.. you just install it and skip this whole download chain

  9. Install limits for applications deployed to Users

Software licensing for certain programs prevents us from deploying these programs to Users since SCCM cannot control how many times a user may actually install an application on other computers or devices. It would be nice to set an install limit for applications deployed to Users if needed.

  10. Make Dynamically Installed Application CIs Show Up in Compliance Reports

Applications installed via task sequence using dynamic variables are never compliant because there is no associated Policy (unless you also deploy the application seperately).

This means that compliance reports are useless if you install applications dynamically as part of your task sequence.

This is a great shame because it means we have to go back to using hardware or software inventory to reliably detect installed software. In some cases, inventory has to be extended to find certain applications. And since there is no native way to associate an inventory item with an application, that data has to be stored elsewhere,…

  11. Package and application templates

It would be nice with an option where you can define package and application templates.
An application can require a lot of input; with a template, many of the options can be pre-filled. This will make it easier to create new applications, and they will be created the same way each time.

It should be possible to add/edit and delete the templates.

Coretech have a similar tool for software update.

  12. Automatic refresh/update after you do "Update distribution point"

When updating a package over "Update distribution point" we always have to click outside of the section/folder in order to get an updated status of the package we are updating. It would be nice to have it automatically refreshed only for that particular software.

  13. Enable option to run a Program as 64-bit process

Currently programs can only run as 32-bit process, so you need to use workarounds (such as sysnative) to run as 64-bit. I would like the ability to run a program as 64-bit, just like you can do with a task sequence 'run command' and application.

  14. Available of software download to users of Workgroup computers with Application Catalog sign-in

Currently, workgroup client cannot download software if the application is deployed to user collection. Hope the subsequent release support workgroup client to download/install software based on user collection membership through Application Catalog sign-in or Software Center.

  15. Detection rule logic change in Application module

    Dear All,

we are using more than one detection rule for all our applications(script installer) that are created in our environment.

During installation, the detection rule (AND condition) works fine and we face no issues.

But there are cases when the uninstallation fails in the middle of the script, we get the message as REMOVAL FAILED in the software center, and out of 3 detection rule one or two get removed (partly uninstalled) , but not the whole application is uninstalled from the machine. And when we run the RETRY for removing the application, SCCM check for installation status based…

  16. More than one ProductCode in Application Source Management

For each Deployment Type, you can set one MSI ProductCode to give Source Management in hand of SCCM. If there is more than one MSI inside my installation (if i use a wrapperscript oder something else) I cannot manage my installationsource of the second msi.

Perhabs, you can add a grid like dependencies to add more than one msi product code into a application or package

  17. Pause download software center

you just started to install an app (manual install and not required/deadline) (ie. Visual Studio that is 6GB) and you need that bandwidth for something else (copy files from client to server, etc). it would be interesting to have a pause button that you can resume when that bandwidth is not needed anymore

  18. Cannot setup Application Model withouth detection logic

We cannot setup a application without detection logic. We have some script/package which has to be deployed on daily basis irrelevant whether application is installed or not and it doesn't require any detection logic. Can we request Microsoft to update Application model i.e we can setup application without detection logic

  19. Allow Superseding / Upgrade of app or program not installed via SCCM

It would be great if an supersedence could be created for programs not deployed via SCCM (or previously deployed via packages). I find myself creating "dummy" applications just for a detection, so that we can automatically upgrade applications that are "Available". In other words, often times we don't care that you installed a specific program, but we do care that if it is installed it's up to date. Maybe when selecting the Application and Deployment type to supersede an additional option to supersede base on a detection rule set could be added?

  20. Unable to target a User with an App-V 5.x App and have the middleware installed Globally so I can use plugins to IE

I think we have a strong business case around the Application model in CM12 SP1 and using App-V 5.0 to do user-based software targeting. As Kaido and I are doing a workshop for learning more on App-V and the possibilities , we ran into some challenges I believe are critical and needs to be solved in a certain way . What the correct way is , I leave that up to the smart engineering guy’s in Redmond .

One of the great promises of application virtualization is dynamic delivery of software to end-users; however delivering plugins or add-ons to installed…
