  1. Add "uninstall application" as an dependency option when creating applications

An example could be when users want to install 'Office 365 x64' on a machine which has 'Office 365 x86' installed. For the 1. to be installed the other should be uninstalled.

  2. Application Model - Fast Retry interval

By default Fast rety interval is 2 hours. There is no option to change this setting. We would like have option to change this internval.

Note in Pacakage model we have option to change this setting through site control file

  3. Show icon set for an application in admin console

Applications can have a custom icon set for them. Applications listed in the SCCM Admin Console have an "icon", but it's the same generic one for every application. Would love to see the icon I set in admin console next to each app for easy identification.

  4. Allow admins to change the default in Software Deployment from “UTC” to “Client Local"

It would be extremely helpful if administrators could change the default “Time based on:” option used in Software Deployment from “UTC” to “Client Local Time”. This setting is highly subjective and only companies that are based in multiple time zones AND want software to deploy simultaneously across all time zones want UTC as the default. Forcing the UTC default upon all customers needlessly increases the chance of human error. Allowing administrators to change the default would satisfy all customer’s needs rather than just those that leverage UTC.

  5. Allow to skip maintenance window for superseded appliciations made available to user collections

Currently when a superseding application is deployed to a user collection I can enable the option "Automatically upgrade any superseded versions of this application". With this option set I'm able to specify a scheduling for the deployment. But the option to allow the installation or maybe the system restart outside the maintenance windows is greyed out.

Would be nice to have the option to skip the maintenance windows for this type of deployment as well.

  6. A Customizable Reboot/Postpone Prompt for Application and Software Updates Deployments

Basically would like something similar to the Windows Updates Reboot/Postpone nag prompt except with the ability to customize the notification text as applicable to the deployment.

For example:, as a sub-setting of the deployment type for the application you have the option to enable the reboot/postpone prompt and customize the notification text of the dialog box.

If the user that receives the prompt, postpones they will be re-prompted at the end of the postponement period until they either reboot or shutdown the system. (basically exactly the same behavior as the Windows Updates reboot/postpone prompt).

  7. Further Customize Web Application Deployment Types

Web Application deployment types in their current incarnation are not very usable. The main issues with using them are that:

    1. There is no control over where the shortcut to the Web App gets placed; they always go to the start menu. We would like the option to put the shortcut on the desktop or in the user's favorites menu. To do this currently we have to write a script and cannot use this deployment type.

    2. The icon for the Web Application should use the icon imported into the software center. Nondescript icons make finding the application you want to launch…

  8. Trigger Hardware Inventory After Installing Applications

Many ConfigMgr administrators set aggressive hardware inventory cycles for their client citing the need to keep an up-to-date inventory for the applications installed on their company's assets. Aggressive inventory cycles can obviously have a negative impact on site performance, and very often is unnecessary as there are frequently no changes to the inventory. Administrators can perform a work around by using wrappers or run additional programs to initiate a hardware inventory post install, however this causes an administrative overhead to installing applications.

I propose adding an option to application/package deployments that would trigger a hardware inventory after a successful installation.…

  9. SCCM client ScriptExecutionTimeout

Please make the SCCM client's ScriptExecutionTimeout attribute a parameter that can be configured within Client Settings policy. This would be the best way to help address the "In-line script execution time-out... DiscoverApp failed (0x87d00321)

  11. Required Application Deployment download settings as part of the deployment

When a required application deployment is deployed, clients start downloading the content as soon as they get the deployment in policy.

Need the ability to control a deployments download of content. Ie have a required deployment, but allow the client to start downloading the content after hours. allow a schedule to be placed on the deployment for download of the content. This would allow you to defer the content download to say night time hours or off peak network load times.

  12. Allow deployments using application model to be installed from DP rather than downloaded to ccmcache folder

I have to create several very large (10GB and up) software deployments each year and install them for two thirds of the user base. Preferred method of delivery is install directly from the DP rather than download the installation files to C:\windows\ccmcache. It would be nice to do this using the application model so I can make use of the extended feature set it provides over the package model. I have to work around the limitations using convoluted wrapper scripts to get everything working properly.

  13. App-V 5 Deployment Type publishing option

App-V 5 Deployment Type should have the option per-deployment type of how the App-V 5 package is installed (per-machine, per-user or determined by target)

    Allow for this would offer;
    1. Consistency of options between deployment types (same as for MSI..)
    2. Ensuring a consistent application deployment which will ease admin management (decrease management overhead when removing the application as a sample)
    3. Allow to control deployment type based on end-point, not target collection.
    4. By allowing admins to set per-machine publishing a fully functional application can be ensured, which would leverage all integration points (not possible when using per-user publishing).

  14. Deploy Package to Multiple Collections at one time

Allow packages to be deployed to multiple collections at one time. For instance I need AppX to go to Lab 1, Lab 2 and Lab4. Instead of going into AppX 3 different times to deploy, it would be nice to deploy it to all 3 labs at one time.

  15. Include ability to turn off Application Revisions

Not everyone has a use case for Application revisions. For those not needing it, application revisions just add complexity and unnecessary additional operational processes and workload.

It would be nice if this could be enabled / disabled either in general via a setting in the product; or on a per application basis.

  16. Allow uninstall of applications with dependencies

When you deploy an application with dependencies, you loose the option to uninstall it from software center. It would be nice to be able to uninstall the main app and be able to choose if the dependencies would uninstall or not.

  17. Dynamic Cache

Allow the option of changing the client cache size on a per application basis.
Large applications can then be installed and if set to not persist in client cache, the cache is then resized to the global site default

  18. Remember list of Application Catalog installed apps

Add a new view to Application Catalog that would display the list of applications that the user has previously installed from the Application Catalog regardless of what machine that application has been installed to.

Scenario here is that the user has been using her workstation for 3 years and during that time she installed 6 different applications from the Application Catalog. Then the user gets a new workstation with the default set of application. She could go to the Application Catalog and see all Apps that She has installed previously on his/her old workstation and install the same ones to…

  19. add possibility to logoff user for Software Installation and prevent login during installation.

It would be great to have a possibility to create a deployment where the User would be logged off during the installation of Software. Useful for Software like Java Runtime or Adobe Pro where a running application can prevent the installation.
The User should be informed that an installation will be started and he will be logged off. The User should be not able to login during the installation.

  20. Web Application - add icon from application catalog to icon on start menu

When you deploy a Web App, the link created on the start menu appears with the standard IE icon. Could the icon that is displayed with the Web app in the application also be applied to the shortcut on the start menu?

currently I have six webapps in my start menu all with the IE icon.

as per the end of this post - http://wmug.co.uk/wmug/b/r0b/archive/2013/10/21/system-center-2012-configuration-manager-r2-web-applications
