  1. creation date and created by For all SCCM components

It is very hard for a Admin to identify who has created the package\collection\Application etc and when, to make sure SCCM environment is efficient wee need to perform regular maintenance which will save troubleshooting time and cost in saving data in DB and actual content on DP's.
currently I guess we have past 3 months data for collections, we are unable to identify who has created the package and when for old entries.
if we have such information for all components of SCCM it will help us to identify the owner and take appropriate action and ensure SCCM wont have…

  2. Make "hidden" UX option for Application Deployment Types actually hide everything

The installation program visibility in the User Experience tab on Application Deployment Types allows the selection "Hidden" which is defined as "Hidden: The deployment type runs hidden on client devices. Users see no installation activity." (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/apps/deploy-use/create-applications#bkmk_dt-ux)
However, this only applies to the FIRST process being spawned by the execution of the defined install/uninstall/repair commandline. All other processes are spawned *interactively* on the logged on user's desktop even if the option "Allow users to view and interact with the program installation" is NOT checked.

Right now this behavior prevents us from using Applications instead of Packages as exposing the…

  3. Support User-Space Application Configuration for All Users of Device

When installing an application there is frequently a system-space component (the main install) requiring admin/system level access and a user-space component (usually configuration or licensing). Less frequently but frequent enough is that all existing users and any new users that log into the device need those user-space components. Currently there is no good, supported, method for doing so. Admins are forced to use either Active Setup (unsupported and recently broken by Win 10 IPUs), Group Policy Preferences (messy, poor targeting, and very non-obvious separation of app logic), or roll their own (login script that does a bunch of custom stuff).

  4. Defer options for Applications

Often, there is a need to wait with an installation.
Such as when user is having a long presentation or workshop.

To be able to let them defer the installation, even if it is being pushed and mandatory would be a big help.

There are some decen 3rd party tools making this possible, but I'd really rather deal with this as an setting for the package or application.

  5. "Test Detection method" button.

Basically, configure your detection method, then have a "Test Detection method" button which has a prompt to enter a device name for testing the detection method on.

would be useful in particular for the vbscript/powershell type detection methods.

Just needs to return an "Application detected" or "Application not detected" result.

  6. Ability to deploy multiple applications to same collection easily

Ability to deploy multiple applications to single collection at once, like with this application http://www.vanhatalo.eu/projects/tva_SMAD/v13/ I have made.

  7. New Businessstore.microsoft.com integration

is it possible to integrate the New Businessstore.microsoft.com in the CM Console to manage the Store apps in one Console, otherwise you have to go to some additional azure Portal and manage it there, that would be difficult to have too many Consoles and stuff to manage your apps.

    Thank you

  8. Autodeploy / Predeploy Available deployment to Primary Device

Having the benefits of Predeploy with an Available deployment (as opposed to required) would be very useful. Having to use a Required deployment just for the purposes of leveraging the Predeploy functionality creates other unwanted behavior. Perhaps this could be a new feature and not necessarily adapting the existing 'Predeploy' feature.

Where I see this functionality being extremely useful is having the ability to deploy an application to a user and having it auto installed (first time / one time only) on their primary device. Being able to do this before the user logs on would also be great.

    This…

  9. VDI - Support fast channel even when non fast channel DT’s exist in the App-V application

This article (http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrteam/archive/2015/08/20/faster-virtual-app-publishing-at-first-logon-for-np-vdi-environment-in-configmgr-sp2-and-r2sp1.aspx) makes it clear that if I want to download and execute an app to a laptop, but also stream to a VDI, that to get fast channel to work, I need 2 apps instead of one app with 2 DTs. That doubles our work and doubles our chance of making mistakes.

  10. Application Installation Program

Currently when we want to run PowerShell commands in an ConfigMgr Application we need to wrap them in a script or run them with powershell.exe -command and make it a oneliner. This is because it's always triggered from cmd.exe.
Would be nice to be able to choose to directly start PowerShell.exe and just run the PowerShell command.
An example of what I'd like to achieve is to simply add that command in the "installation program" field.
    Add-WindowsCapability -Online -LimitAccess -Name Tools.Graphics.DirectX~~~~0.0.1.0 -Source .
Currently we have to use this oneliner instead which is far more complex.
    Powershell.exe -NoLogo -NoProfile -NonInteractive…

  11. dependencies not shown

When installing application with dependencies etc number of “components” is shown – It would be much more user friendly to show the dependencies etc
Only the info number of components is useless , user wants to know which !

  12. Email Admin and/or employees with info about updates (critical etc.) and updating apps

it would be nice, if i can configure to send email to admins and/or employees if there are critical updates, start upgrade applications or inform the admin about available Windows updates to give info to my employees. in this case all users are informed about security Impacts and that i install updates on their machines.

  13. Enable ‘Copy the content in this package to a package share on distribution points’ for the Application model

Using HTTP sources is currently broken for Windows (See MS case REG:117102316533973 - When an application requires a feature/needs to self heal Windows installer brings up the
Error 123. The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.) and a work around would be to use package shares however the application model does not have this.

The best solution would be a new distribution point feature that makes virtual package shares for each application not requiring extra space on the server. Otherwise enabling the same tickbox that is used for packages could be a quick win.

    Reasoning:
    HTTPS MSI…

  14. PowerShell script package deployment

There should be an option for PS script in both Package and Application deployment so I don't have to create a batch file to execute an PS script with Bypass, Unrestricted etc. In the same way there's an option in OSD Task Sequence.

  15. Build in preprovisioning for Windows UWP apps allowing the apps to be available to all users that login

Build in pre-provisioning of Windows UWP apps. This can be done via a package that calls the PS command Add-AppxProvisionedPackage or DISM /online /add-provisionedappxpackage, but it would ease admin burden and be more scriptable to have this option built into the app deployment interfaces.

This would make the app available to all users that login to the device, without having to target each user (via collection).

Pre-provisioning the app is useful for a device that will be used by multiple users; for example, airlines using Surface devices for the flight crew and gate workers.

  16. Approval Requests Overhaul

The ability to add a note, and send a notification to the user if more information for their approval is required. Rather than denying it, and requiring them to re-submit, why not keep a single chain open?

Would also be nice if Approval instructions could be given for individual applications, informing the user the steps required for approval to be given. like submitting a ticket to a specific group, supplying approval from a manager.

  17. Add option to wait for all child processes when installing new application

Add an option to wait for all child processes of the Installation program when creating an Application Deployment Type. This should function similarly to the -Wait option in PowerShell's Start-Process function.

  18. Ability to change the collection for a deployment

Would like the ability to change the collection for a deployment instead of having to create a new deployment.

  19. Pass parameters to detection method script

Creating a functional detection method is by far the most important, and potentially challenging thing people have to do when they start out with the application model, when the app is not an msi.

Most of our customers do use a consistent way of registering their sccm-based installations, whether that be in registry, wmi or just in the file system.

Passing parameters like the app name, dt name, and their respective guids to the script based option in a dection method would allow one to create a uniform detection method that just "always works".

  20. Include ability to turn off Application Revisions

Not everyone has a use case for Application revisions. For those not needing it, application revisions just add complexity and unnecessary additional operational processes and workload.

It would be nice if this could be enabled / disabled either in general via a setting in the product; or on a per application basis.
