  1. Update dependencies / Update all dependent applications

If you have e.g. Oracle as dependency set for ~50 applications and a new version is available, you have to manually update all 50 deployment types with this new dependency version.

If you only supersede it, the main applications which are using this as a dependency do not show up in softwarecenter anymore.

There must be a possibility to have an overview of dependent applications and update all of them with one click or exclude some for certain reasons.

  2. Keep App Catalog running with Site Database server down & replica MP's in place

To improve HA options - this was previously filed on Connect (https://connect.microsoft.com/ConfigurationManagervnext/feedback/details/1413501/keep-app-catalog-running-with-site-database-server-down-replica-mps-in-place)

When running replica MP's policy is available on the replica MP's DB and Software Center is available and applications are able to installed even if the site server and DB is down. Great for device targeted deployments.

However for user centric deployments that are available via the App Catalog, the users ability to install these is none existent since when the site database is down the App Catalog cannot load as it tries to connect to it and fails.

It might be handy if the databaseā€¦

  3. allow custom message pop-up's for application model

now that we can kill applications with the app model, can we implement displaying custom messages\pop-up windows before the application install action, this pop-up would ask to either continue, cancel(defer the deployment), or continue on timeout. its just such a pain to wrap an application in a powershell script to achieve this. thank you.

  4. Ability to schedule the deletion of applications in Retired State

I would like the ability to change the default 60 day time limit that deletes applications that are in a retired state. Would be great to have the ability to change that setting added under maintenance tasks.

  5. Remove New Software is available prompt for Packages deployed as Available

It would be great if Packages deployed as Available would not prompt the user with 'New software is available' in the system tray upon login and persist until the user installs the package. We want to utilize the 'Show notifications for new deployments' setting for Windows OS/Microsoft Office updates to give the users more control of installation options, but we cannot since we have Packages available to all users for various fixes which makes this tray icon is persistent and an reported as an annoyance.

  6. localized description - html

it would be very helpful for the overall user experience if it would be possible to use html or any kind of formatting in the localized description.
currently the description is not shown very pleasant...

  7. Enable/Disable Feature for Application Deployments

    Enable/Disable Feature for Application Deployments
When a Deployment is created, it is Enabled by default and there is no way to Disable it. In the current state, a Deployment could get created incorrectly, resulting in a large number of computers in the company getting rebooted, unwanted software or blue screens (if its something incompatible for that platform). In SCCM 2007 we got around this by creating a "Disabled" program for each Package, then after an Advertisement was QA'd, we would associate the "Enable" Program with the Advertisement. This option is not available in 2012. Seems like a pretty simple featureā€¦

  8. Make Application Deployment Status more consistent

Since 2012 RTM, ConfigMgr has inconsistent experience for application deployment monitoring described in these blog entries:

    @Michael Wray: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Configuration-Manager-Archive/Troubleshooting-In-Console-Monitoring-for-Deployments-in-System/ba-p/273015
    @Umair Khan: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/umairkhan/2014/10/02/the-case-of-the-unexplained-application-deployment-monitoring-reports-which-one-to-rely/

Basically, we count Application Infrastructure errors in all pie charts both in Monitoring\Deployments Console node and application reports, but we don't have any pre-created way to find failing clients except "Application infrastructure Errors" report.

It would be good idea to list the assets affected by infra errors in separate deployment monitoring tab, or together with failing DTs in the console. Also it would be nice to modify pre-defined reports to be more consistent and list also affected assetsā€¦

  9. Add the new "Software Updates deployment re-eval behavior upon restart" feature to Application deployments

With CM1606, we get a great new feature on Deployments of Software Update Group that can trigger a software update scan after the reboot. This makes it quicker to fully patch machines since Update A might get installed and now Update B becomes applicable. Previously, you'd have to wait for the next update scan (which at shortest is 24 hours, even if you schedule it for more often) before Update B would show up as required.

Well, this functionality would be incredibly useful on Deployments of Applications. If I deploy Office 2016, I'd want the device to do a softwareā€¦

  10. VDI - Support fast channel even when non fast channel DTā€™s exist in the App-V application

This article (http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrteam/archive/2015/08/20/faster-virtual-app-publishing-at-first-logon-for-np-vdi-environment-in-configmgr-sp2-and-r2sp1.aspx) makes it clear that if I want to download and execute an app to a laptop, but also stream to a VDI, that to get fast channel to work, I need 2 apps instead of one app with 2 DTs. That doubles our work and doubles our chance of making mistakes.

  11. Web Application - add icon from application catalog to icon on start menu

When you deploy a Web App, the link created on the start menu appears with the standard IE icon. Could the icon that is displayed with the Web app in the application also be applied to the shortcut on the start menu?

currently I have six webapps in my start menu all with the IE icon.

as per the end of this post - http://wmug.co.uk/wmug/b/r0b/archive/2013/10/21/system-center-2012-configuration-manager-r2-web-applications

  12. Make "hidden" UX option for Application Deployment Types actually hide everything

The installation program visibility in the User Experience tab on Application Deployment Types allows the selection "Hidden" which is defined as "Hidden: The deployment type runs hidden on client devices. Users see no installation activity." (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/apps/deploy-use/create-applications#bkmk_dt-ux)
However, this only applies to the FIRST process being spawned by the execution of the defined install/uninstall/repair commandline. All other processes are spawned *interactively* on the logged on user's desktop even if the option "Allow users to view and interact with the program installation" is NOT checked.

Right now this behavior prevents us from using Applications instead of Packages as exposing theā€¦

  13. Application Deployment Evaluation cycle (Automatically re-evaluate on required reboot)

When staging an upgrade of a product using supersedence where an uninstall of the previous product is required, followed by a reboot (3010), before initiating the install of the new product I have found that the Application Model is not evaluating quick enough.

I have observed that the superseded product's uninstallation has occurred, signaled a 3010 exit code, and the client's Restart Behavior schedules a reboot as expected. Even though a 3010 is indicated in Software Center, the Superseding deployment type attempts to run and fails due to a pending reboot. Once the pending reboot is satisfied by the Clientā€¦

  14. "Test Detection method" button.

Basically, configure your detection method, then have a "Test Detection method" button which has a prompt to enter a device name for testing the detection method on.

would be useful in particular for the vbscript/powershell type detection methods.

Just needs to return an "Application detected" or "Application not detected" result.

  15. Ability to deploy multiple applications to same collection easily

Ability to deploy multiple applications to single collection at once, like with this application http://www.vanhatalo.eu/projects/tva_SMAD/v13/ I have made.

  16. New Businessstore.microsoft.com integration

is it possible to integrate the New Businessstore.microsoft.com in the CM Console to manage the Store apps in one Console, otherwise you have to go to some additional azure Portal and manage it there, that would be difficult to have too many Consoles and stuff to manage your apps.

    Thank you

  17. Autodeploy / Predeploy Available deployment to Primary Device

Having the benefits of Predeploy with an Available deployment (as opposed to required) would be very useful. Having to use a Required deployment just for the purposes of leveraging the Predeploy functionality creates other unwanted behavior. Perhaps this could be a new feature and not necessarily adapting the existing 'Predeploy' feature.

Where I see this functionality being extremely useful is having the ability to deploy an application to a user and having it auto installed (first time / one time only) on their primary device. Being able to do this before the user logs on would also be great.

    Thisā€¦

  18. Application Installation Program

Currently when we want to run PowerShell commands in an ConfigMgr Application we need to wrap them in a script or run them with powershell.exe -command and make it a oneliner. This is because it's always triggered from cmd.exe.
Would be nice to be able to choose to directly start PowerShell.exe and just run the PowerShell command.
An example of what I'd like to achieve is to simply add that command in the "installation program" field.
    Add-WindowsCapability -Online -LimitAccess -Name Tools.Graphics.DirectX~~~~0.0.1.0 -Source .
Currently we have to use this oneliner instead which is far more complex.
    Powershell.exe -NoLogo -NoProfile -NonInteractiveā€¦

  19. dependencies not shown

When installing application with dependencies etc number of ā€œcomponentsā€ is shown ā€“ It would be much more user friendly to show the dependencies etc
Only the info number of components is useless , user wants to know which !

  20. Email Admin and/or employees with info about updates (critical etc.) and updating apps

it would be nice, if i can configure to send email to admins and/or employees if there are critical updates, start upgrade applications or inform the admin about available Windows updates to give info to my employees. in this case all users are informed about security Impacts and that i install updates on their machines.
