  1. Integrate Application Catalog Management Into Web Interface (Including approval automation options)

Yes we do this today with SCOrch and other tools, however, the self service aspect of the catalog has so much untapped potential in the product. Putting the management and automation into the web interface for administrators would make this so much easier/beneficial for the masses.

  2. SCCM Company Portal App: Correct installation status for applications requiring approval

When an application is requested for approval and then installed using the SCCM Comopany Portal App, the status stays on "Install" but it would be nice if it changed to "Installing" and then "Installed" accordingly.

    More Details:

    1. An application is deployed to users as «Install / Available» with the flag «Require administrator approval if users request this application»

    2. The SCCM Company Portal App can be successfully used to request approval for the application from the client.

    3. The approval request appears in SCCM and is approved from the SCCM console.

    4. After approving the request in SCCM, the…

  3. limit user deployments by device collection

It would be nice to have content/policy deployed to a user collection to be able to consider membership of a device collection...resulting in a test on if the device to which the user policy is executing is a member of the associated device collection before execution.

The possible device collections should be enumerated considering what is visible by the individual creating the deployment (if so desired to be changed). While it is possible that an administrative user is delegated the ability to deploy policy to users and not devices (thus cannot see any device collections), in this scenario perhaps the…

  4. Introduce a new checkbox under package properties: "Don't store this package in content library if content is copied to package share".

Introduce a new checkbox under package properties: "Don't store this package in content library if content is copied to package share".

That is to avoid using twice the package size in Distribution Points for the environments where content availability in package shares is crucial.

  5. Ability to restrict a deployment to user's primary/non-primary devices

Being able to set primary/non-primary as a requirement on a deployment rather than a deployment type would make it possible to make an application required on a user's primary devices, but available to them on other devices. Currently this requires either having two applications with different requirements, or having a device collection of users' primary devices.

  6. Store a "root" path for Application Content Source

It would be really useful for SCCM to be able to store a root or starting point for application content sources or Software Update Packages etc

Its frustrating having to type out or cut and paste a path every time you create a new application to find the content source data.

For example, you could set a default location for these that SCCM would list for you to select when creating an application i.e.

    Application Package Sources \\server\app-packages\
    Package Source Files \\server\package-store\
    Software Updates \\server\updates\

    etc.

  7. Supersede application - show if other application depends on it

If you supersede an application, there should be any kind of wizard which shows you which application depends on it:
The problem in this scenario is, that if you supersede an application which is set as dependency for others, all those applications do not show up in softwarecenter anymore.
So the "sccm admin" should be aware and get a warning when superseding applications which are set as dependencies.

  8. local cache validation

Before executing cached application sources from sccm, there is no further validation of the hash against server etc.

The problem is, that everyone who is familiar with sccm or does only minor research in where to find cached files, could change the setup files to whatever he wants
And those files are afterwards executed in system context.

Some users already do their testing to install services etc in system context executed by SCCM!

  9. Add an Application Deployment "End" time

It would be nice to be able to set an "End" time on an application deployment to help reduce some of the maintenance. For instance, if I have App.v1, being superseded by App.v2 I'd like to be able to set the App.v1 deployments to "End" or "Expire" at "X" time which would hopefully remove them as well, reducing the "busy work" associated with that process.

It would also help automate a workflow that requires me to deploy an application from X date to Y date, then remove it after that.

  10. Install limits for applications deployed to Users

Software licensing for certain programs prevents us from deploying these programs to Users since SCCM cannot control how many times a user may actually install an application on other computers or devices. It would be nice to set an install limit for applications deployed to Users if needed.

  11. Run Application Deployment Evaluation Cycle from Software Center

User or support should not need to go to Configuration Manager control panel to run this cycle. I voted for other suggestions to run on forced reboot or logoff. It would also be great to have a user-friendly button in Software Center to run the evaluation.

  12. Grant end user more flexibility to manage execution of required deployments (“postpone required deployments”)

It would be great to be able to allow user to manage even deployments where software (applications, software updates …) has to be installed as “required” (mandatory) in a more flexible way.
In many cases software should be installed as soon as possible, but needn’t be installed necessarily till a specific date. Therefore, it would be great to give the user limited control when to install the software allowing him to choose a time which is most appropriate for him.
E.g. instead of forcing a user who was on vacation for two weeks to install the software when he logs…

  13. collection deployment

Collections have a Tab named "Deployments", both when selected in admin console and in properties of a certain collection. It would be nice to see inherited deployments (As you do with a device) in the tab in properties.

  14. Application Revisions - Delete Aged Application Revision Site Maintenance

I would like an option under site maintenance to "Delete Aged Application Revision" similar to other options, where I could then set "Delete Application Revisions after being superseded for (days)"

  15. Let Software Version Become a Variable (For Detection Methods)

I always enter the software version number for each application I am patching (Adobe Reader/Acrobat, Chrome, Firefox, Java, etc).

I also use detection methods to determine that the new update has been installed. Is there any way the "Software Version" field I manually populate with the correct version can be a variable that can be used in the detection method MSI/File version field?

It would be great to let the detection method use %SOFTVERSION%, for instance, which points to the software version I am defining every time.

  16. Allow Email Approval Requests to go to Manager / Owner / Support Contact

First off - Thank-you very much for the Email approval in CM 1810.
For the first improvement request, I'd like to request it be able to be sent to Manager or Application / Support owner already identified in the application.

These 3 options would cover nearly every workflow possibility instead of a hardcoded email address.

Usually you require permission from a BA or Business owner of the application, a Technical resource (Helpdesk, etc), or your Supervisor for an application. 2 of these items are already tracked in the application, and the third is (should) populated in AD for the requesting…

  17. Run a GPUPDATE after Application Install Option

In some instances, it would be valuable to have an application to silently run a "gpupdate /force" once the application installation has completed (and potentially before it hands off for the detection method). In the past if I've had a need for this I've had SCCM trigger a reboot on completion of the installation, but I'd rather not have this as it impacts the user.

  19. Independend deployment type

Currently, when creating Application and Application´s deployment types, they are mandatory linked to each other.

In production, we need 2 different deployment types. 1st deployment type would be used on-field computers which require complex uninstall script and 2nd would be independend native setup.exe /silent

Currently, the issue is, that we cannot use independend deployment types in Application model.
