  1. Deployment specific maintenance windows

Add an option on the User Experience tab for all deployments to specify a maintenance window that overrides all other windows and only applies to that particular deployment. The deployment should not run during any other maintenance windows available to the system if you configure this option either. This maintenance window should only be available for this deployment and not any other deployments targeted to the system.

This would be a good option if you're generally loose with your maintenance windows to allow deployments more chances to run, but if you need to restrict a particular deployment to only run…

  2. Execute Program with least privilege

Please incorporate the option to execute a Program without elevation (least amount of privileges).

    Background:
We sometimes receive requests to automate some process via Configuration Manager. This is frequently done by creating a Package with a Program that executes a script.

    Use case:
When automating the OneDrive sync client (or various other commands / programs), a simple script works well.

    Problem:
When the same script is executed with elevation, it doesn't work as expected.
Configuration Manager elevates the session when the currently logged on user has admin privileges on the machine.
Some troubleshooting is required to find the root cause.…

  3. System reboot before an Applicaiton install

If your system has a pending reboot it can cause some programs/application issues with installation up to the point of failing the install. It would be great if there was a checkbox to reboot (or at least notify the user that the system has a pending reboot) before the install starts but after the detection that the program isn't installed already.

  4. Virtual environment management

We cannot have AppV connection groups be successfully managed by current branch SCCM Virtual Environments.
    It looks like:
    - an application cannot be part of more than one virtual environment
    AND
    - an application cannot have more than one deployment type in a virtual environment

According to what can be found in the documentation, it should be possible to achieve what we want.
    - Old whitepaper (not anymore officially available, but we still have it): http://www.getonict.nl/docs/app-v-5-configuration-manager-2012-sp1-integration.pdf “Applications are allowed to be in multiple virtual environments to allow a single package to communicate with multiple, separate applications.”
    - SCCM Current Branch…

  5. Please add Package ID as a default column to 'applications' node under Software Library

Application models have package ID's just like Packages have package ID's. Package ID is a default column for packages but not for Applications. Adding this column to the defaults makes it easier to use to correctly identify Applications when multiple names are similar or mistyped etc...

  6. Add User Categories to application list (column and search)

Would really great addition, if we can have ability to sort and search application based on User Categories. In large organizations where thousands applications exists, using filters in Software Center is only way to make user life easier. However managing categories is really difficult, since we need to actually enter app properties to see what categories are assigned. making exact copy in admin categories is one way to do it, but I don't think admin categories were created to be a shadow copy of user categories.

  7. Automate creation of Office 365 Application for new versions

Go 1 step further with the new Office Customisation Service shown a Ignite. Currently the service allows admins to create a new application installer for x version of Office. Automate this!

A common annoyance currently is that we have Office 365 packaged as an application in ConfigMgr. This application is apart of a Task Sequence to install Windows 10. At time of creation, the Office application is up to date. However, once the latest version of Office is released, this will result in the machine installing the old version during the TS, and then installing updates post build via whatever…

  8. Different detection methods for install and uninstall

We need to be able to have different detection methods for install and uninstall. For large software we need to know that files x, y & z need to exist, shortcuts in the start menu and uninstall entry in the registry. That will be the install detection. All of this needs to be true. But for uninstall we need to know if any of those are still there. The differens is "and" (for install) and "or" (for uninstall).

Detection should also be possible by a ps1-file in the source folder.

  9. Store a "root" path for Application Content Source

It would be really useful for SCCM to be able to store a root or starting point for application content sources or Software Update Packages etc

Its frustrating having to type out or cut and paste a path every time you create a new application to find the content source data.

For example, you could set a default location for these that SCCM would list for you to select when creating an application i.e.

    Application Package Sources \\server\app-packages\
    Package Source Files \\server\package-store\
    Software Updates \\server\updates\

    etc.

  10. Volume Activation should be built into SCCM

Rather than having added tools like the Volume Activation Management Tool this should be built into SCCM.

  11. requirement not met user experience

We are working with requirement which makes sense in a lot of scenarios. But the user experience when a requirement is not met is very bad - there is only a hardcoded text "the software is not applicable to your device" displayed in the software center for the user.
So the users are for sure opening tickets at the service desk because they have no further information and we are not able to give them more information.

It would make sense to have a textbox within the requirement creation wizard to set up a custom text which is shown to…

  12. User notification for running executions

To increase the user experience it would be great to show a notification during an application execution.
So when we do required deployments or user installs/uninstalls/etc an application via IFX Appstore there should be an additional notification shown e.g as balloon tip.
Users want to see if something happens on their clients and additionally have this information in place that they are aware not to shutdown/reboot the client or unplug network cable etc..

  13. Schedule Content to be Updated

Have the ability to schedule an update of content. This way, if we change the source of content, we can schedule the update to happen late at night rather than during the day when it will affect business.

  14. Enable ‘Copy the content in this package to a package share on distribution points’ for the Application model

Using HTTP sources is currently broken for Windows (See MS case REG:117102316533973 - When an application requires a feature/needs to self heal Windows installer brings up the
Error 123. The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.) and a work around would be to use package shares however the application model does not have this.

The best solution would be a new distribution point feature that makes virtual package shares for each application not requiring extra space on the server. Otherwise enabling the same tickbox that is used for packages could be a quick win.

    Reasoning:
    HTTPS MSI…

  15. Office Click-to-run should be able to stream installation from Distribution Point

When deploying Office 365 via SCCM, the client downloads the entire package to its local drive, then streams the installation from the downloaded source. In our organisation we have one master source including all languages (~8GB) and the client streams only the languages it requires (as specified in the configuration.xml), SCCM should allow the clients to stream the installation directly from the Distribution Points and therefore only download the languages they need, not the entire 8GB source.

  16. Add an additional Maintenance Windows type specifically for Application Deployments only

Add an additional Maintenance Window type specifically for Application Deployments only. Software Updates and Task sequences have their own and there is an "All Deployments" type. There needs to be one on for Apps to better segregate the nature of the changes occurring in the environment.

  17. Ability to deploy multiple applications to same collection easily

Ability to deploy multiple applications to single collection at once, like with this application http://www.vanhatalo.eu/projects/tva_SMAD/v13/ I have made.

  18. Add Install Behavior to Uninstallations

As stated above, the Uninstall command should be forced to check if an executable is running via the Install Behavior tab, same as installations. I could see some cases where you'd want it to uninstall anyway, so maybe a checkbox could be added on how to handle this.

Right now if a user clicks "uninstall" or if Supersedence is set to run an uninstall, the application will just begin the uninstall. This isn't ideal, as If the old version of software is uninstalled, it will typically crash the application, and then the new version would begin installing to the horror…

  19. Display this as a featured app and highlight in *Software Center*

Now we have the lovely shiny new Software Center with beautiful 500x500 icons, it would be excellent if we could pin\highlight featured applications to the top row in the available applications list. Even better if it were to be configurable like the Windows 10 Start Menu, and have the size you want it to be (i.e how many spaces to take up).

Would be great if the current "Display this as a featured app and highlight in company portal" tick box could be rejuvenated with this.

  20. Multiple deployment types, allow easier configuration to define requirements. Target to Collection.

When you have an application with multiple deployment types you have the option to configure and deploy in two ways. Either work through and configure complex requirements to control which deployment type is installed on a device or create multiple application. This second can end up taking considerable space on a client if each deployment is a couple of GB’s and the device required multiple configurations.

As an example: In the case of deploying multiple configurations of Office, (we have 36 different install configurations) it would be good to be able to easily configure a deployment types to a collection.…
