  1. Increase Application Dependency Chain limit from 5-10

Currently the supported limit for dependent applications is five.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/apps/deploy-use/create-applications#bkmk_dt-depend

I would like to propose an increase of that limit from 5 to 10. Generally speaking a Task Sequence would be ok for handling large numbers of order specific applications, however there are limitations to using a TS for deployment in a large scale environment.
We often find that we are pushing close to the limit of 5 in applications that require things like ".net,odbc, VS debugging,C++ redist, MS DB engine" and so on. When multiple core techs are required at a specific version having a limit of 5 makesā€¦

  2. Deployment Evaluation Cycle detects manually installed applications (AppDiscovery.log) but does not reflect this status in Software Center

Think about a KeePass application including a working detection method. Click "install" in Software Center, it installs and gets detected correctly.
Now think about a user who manually installed the same KeePass version. The application is deployed to "any machine" as "available". So, this user get's it as well. But it never shows up as installed in Software Center unless I click one time on "install". Even running the "Application Deployment Evaluation Cycle" does not change the button to "uninstall" or list it as installed in "Installation Status". AppDiscovery.log shows the DeploymentType_blabla as "discovered".

    We're using SCCM 1802 with allā€¦

  3. In the Office 365 Client Management console it would be very helpful if it would report which devices had a 32-bit versus a 64-bit install.

  4. Require an approval process to deploy a new Application.

We use a lot of contractor resources as surge resources for application packaging. Could you implement an approval process (similar to that of Run Scripts) that would require approval before someone could Deploy a newly created Application? This would greatly improve quality and ensure all new Applications have been reviewed to reduce the risk of an ooops.

  5. Allowing the windows installer file to be elsewhere in the sources subdirectory

Actually the MSI is located in the root of the source file then SCCM will be able to detect it only at the root of the source file. But if the msi is Under another directory why not be able to set that localtion?

  6. When deleting an application, have the process be similar to deleting a package where it shows exactly what is referencing the application.

When deleting an application, have the process be similar to deleting a package where it shows exactly what is referencing the application such as which task sequences or application dependencies.

Hunting for the task sequence references is a pain. :(

  7. Defer application download until maintenance period

When deploying software to device collections that have a maintenance period the software downloads then waits for the maintenance period to begin installing. It would be great to have the option to defer the downloading process until either the maintenance period or a set amount of time before the maintenance period. This would allow IT departments to defer large software deployments to a time when network traffic is low.

Optionally, provide a new option in the maintenance period settings for when application downloads are allowed to happen.

  8. Be able to see if the deployment group is a user group or a computer group in the deployment tab

As we can see the information Grouping name, Mandatory or not ..., would it be possible to see if the group on which we are deploying is a user or a computer?

  9. Update "Estimated Install Time" for applications based on previous application installs

Update the estimated install time shown in Software Center for applications based on install times from other clients. This could use an average of the install time over all clients or be more advanced and take into account system specs to determine an estimated start time.

  10. When removing an application or package that is in a task sequence

SCCM will tell you when you remove an application that it exists in a task sequence. Is it possible to have it tell you what the task sequence(s) it is in?

  11. Allow already deployed applications to be modified for email approval

Allow already deployed applications to be modified for email approval.

With 1810 you can now select to have emails sent when an application approval request is generated. That's great! However, you can only do it for applications that are deployed after the upgrade to 1810

It would be great if this functionality could be added to applications that are already deployed.,

  12. Applications should evaluate Requirements before detection

It makes no sense that application detection is evaluated when requirement are not met. Result is application that cannot comply when detection fails due to ie missing features

  13. Enhance Install Behavior for detecting open applications

SCCM 1702 introduced the Install Behavior tab for deployment types which lets you specify executables for the application to monitor during deployment. Currently, if the deployment is "Available" or "Available but before the deadline" then the install fails and users receive a pop-up indicating which executables need to be closed prior to your application running.

    Enhancements:
    1. Modify the feature so that the pop-up appears before the application install fails. If the user clicks "OK" then the application will perform the check again. If the executables are still open then the pop-up appears again. The pop-up will continue to appearā€¦

  14. Configure application deployment retry

When applications fail to deploy, you need to wait for the next application deployment reevaluation cycle before the next attempt is made to install it (unless the user manually retries via software center).

In the most part, when applications fail generally it's because of something that is going on at the endpoint at that specific time. E.g. reboot pending/a file in use etc etc. Therefore on a second retry (normally after a reboot) the application will install.

It would be good if there was a "Retry Failed Install" option where you could configure if you wanted the application to automaticallyā€¦

  15. localized description - html

it would be very helpful for the overall user experience if it would be possible to use html or any kind of formatting in the localized description.
currently the description is not shown very pleasant...

  16. Auto-Uninstall application after specifed period

sometimes we recieve request to install a software for only period of time and we will have to remeber to remove it and it's quite diffilcult especially when period is great. so we need to remove an application at specific time where we ca specify the date during the installation and once the due date is about to end the user gets pop up message to request an extision of the period which require an approval from the console if he applied for it otherwise to be removed.

  17. Improve app model logging

Make it easier to troubleshoot application deployment with:
    - Consolidated log file
    - Make logging easier to understand and find the reason for failures.
For a new SCCM Admin/Tech troubleshooting appdeployment is hard, have to understand the different log files and know which one to read.

  18. Ability to deploy an Applications "Incremental Test" version to certain test computers

    Scenario :
I have an application that is deployed to all computers in my environment. The live version of that application is 1.2
I then want to be able to create a new version (1.3) of THAT same application and only deploy those changes to a certain set of testcomputers.
When all testing is done I want to change the "LIVE" version of the application to 1.3 and this will automatically deploy version 1.3 to all my computers.

  19. Distribute content faster with torrent technology

Content will be broken up into many small fragments, these fragments will be distributed on all distribution points, all distribution points share these fragments among each other until all distribution points have the complete content. At the end, the content is checked for completeness by means of a checksum. This significantly increases the performance!

  20. Implementing a return code to reboot with fast retry

When an application is checking for pending reboot there is no way to create a reboot with fast retry. In my scripts, I am just doing a fast retry but if the user is out of the office the script may loop for a long time. If the session is logout why not rebooting with fast retry?
