  1. Introduce a new checkbox under package properties: "Don't store this package in content library if content is copied to package share".

Introduce a new checkbox under package properties: "Don't store this package in content library if content is copied to package share".

That is to avoid using twice the package size in Distribution Points for the environments where content availability in package shares is crucial.

  2. Remember list of Application Catalog installed apps

Add a new view to Application Catalog that would display the list of applications that the user has previously installed from the Application Catalog regardless of what machine that application has been installed to.

Scenario here is that the user has been using her workstation for 3 years and during that time she installed 6 different applications from the Application Catalog. Then the user gets a new workstation with the default set of application. She could go to the Application Catalog and see all Apps that She has installed previously on his/her old workstation and install the same ones toā€¦

  3. Application catalog - select multiple applications to be installed as a queue

It would be extremly usefull if an user can select multiple applications in the application catalog that he/she wants and then hit the Install button once.

Hereby the applications are installed in one batch (queue). This wil save the user lots of time and clicking in the application catalog when the user wants to install a couple of applications.

  4. Ability to specify a Software Update as a dependency

I'd like the ability to choose a Software Update as a dependency for applications. Instead of creating .NET 4.6.1 as an Application, specify the Software Update for it that is already in place.

  5. We need an Event based deployment versus Time based deployment

Please put in Event based deployment versus Time based deployment based on file/registry/Event log change. The deployment date should be used as the absolute earliest the event could take place. The expiration date should still hold true.

The action could possibly happen on a single device, but need to occur to devices within a boundary/collection.

The usage scenario is when a computer device is being used in a 24 hour retail setting, and the maintenance window is dependent on when the retail location determines a time in which it can take such action. The retail store may only have aā€¦

  6. Move all (or selected) deployments from one application to another

It would be nice to have the ability to move all deployments (or selectively chosen ones [CTRL + Click]) from one application to another using a menu accessible by right clicking any of the selected deployments and choosing the new application to move the deployments to and automatically removing the deployments from the original application.

  7. Add data access/distribution settings options to app/package creation

It would be great to have the ability to check the appropriate data access/distribution setting options from the get-go rather than having to go into the properties of each app/package and checking the appropriate boxes. Just having the options available when you create the app/package would save time.

  8. When creating a package program, add the checkbox "Allow this program to be installed from the Install Package task sequence",

When you go through the wizard to create a new program for a package, it would be great to have the option to check the box "Allow this program to be installed from the Install Package task sequence without being deployed" in the wizard, rather than having to go back into the package/program properties and check the box.

  9. add application catalogue install report

It would be useful to be able to have a default report created which shows the total number of software installed through the catalogue method. This would be useful when reporting back to management the amount of time saved through end users installing themselves, rather than time spent pushing out, amending collections, or manually installing.

  10. Have the Content Status link for a given application or package jump directly to that package's status

Currently when viewing an Application or Package and selecting the "Content Status" link the console redirects to a list of all content, which an admin user must then navigate to find the package they just came from and finding it, click the "View Status" link for the highlighted content.
Just skip the middle step and go directly to the specified content's status.

  11. Pass Return Code Across Dependent Applications

When installing an Application with dependencies, the ability to capture the dependent Apps return code and then perform a set of actions (run a custom script, additional child dependency, etc.) or have a series of extra settings that can be configured (wait until reboot/logon/additional action complete), would be very helpful.

For example: AppA has a dependency that will require a reboot but it must be initiated by the user. The ability for the primary App to get that return code and then "Hold until reboot" would be very helpful.

  12. Performing Uninstall of depended applications when necessary

Sometimes it happens that you have 3 or 4 different application depended one on another. In current application model is capable install these dependencies. Which works perfect.

But uninstall... When it comes to uninstall, the dependencies of the application, are left back. It is for sure that we do not want to uninstall .Net FW or C++ runtime because we just removed one application. But how about in a dependencies just specific to that application. These depended applications are not user by any other application. So why not we cannot remove them. When we use application model, the information toā€¦

  13. Universal Application Upgrade Deployment

Current universal apps require older version app should not be running on client computer when you deployed upgrade package to clients.

When you deploy upgrade to clients old version running deployments failing with error "Resource already in use".

Customers trying to use wrapper programs to terminate running process. Instead of wrapper program Configuration Manager should be handle the process termination.

  14. Application Catalog - get rid of the web frame

The GUI of the Application Catalog shows scroll bars when the display is scaled to 150% or 200%. Use a scalable HTML 5 web page. Especially when this page is used on a Surface Pro 4 (which is scaled by default to 200%) it works very bad, the user has to scroll to see the whole page.

  15. Combine all portals into one universal portal

There is so many different portals.

1- Company portal app for Config manager.
    2- Software Center
    3- New software center
    4- Apple catalog

Reason: it is way to complicated for users to decide which one to use

Ask: create one universal portal that does all 4 is capable of doing

  16. Add "Run As" to Applications

Similar to the Task Sequence "Run this step as the following account". Please add this to application installations as well. We have some "difficult to package" applications that require a user profile in order to install successfully. These applications fail to install as an application because when running as the system there is no user profile path. As a result, we have to resort to task sequences to install these which results in a worse end user experience.

  17. Process elevation in User Context

"Run as Administrator" will elevate using the System Context.
Elevation of an installation or whatnot should be allowed to be elevated within User Context, even though User would not have Administrator rights on the computer. There are 3rd party tools available to fix this for elevation. Microsoft should be able to fix this in SCCM.

  18. Role Based Control : Enhance the Ability to Add SuperSedence using RBA

Currently under the Role Base Access, if you have full control to an application, and wish to add SuperSedence to an application the User only has read access to, you are unable to do that. The ability to do this is currently available when adding a dependency on an existing app the user only has read rights to.

  20. Reboot Behavior for Application Deployment

I experienced strange reboot behavior for application deployment.

I wrote detailed information on TechNet Forums post: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/fc7e6886-8d24-439f-a8d8-3f68b633f528/reboot-behavior?forum=configmanagerapps.
