  2. Deploy Application Groups to Users

The 1906 application group feature only allows you to deploy application groups to devices. Please extend this feature to enable application groups for user deployments as well.

  3. Application replacement options

Add, please, additional option to the application supersedence/replacement window "Corresponding to conditions". Very often we need to replace one application to another which has different number of deployment types. Superseded application has only one deployment type (x86 as example) but new application has 2 deployment types (x86 and x64) which has global condition based on operating system architecture. With the new option CCM Client will choose a new application where requirements are met.

  4. A standalone app for "Install Application" feature

ConfigMgr 1906 has a great new feature to initiate immediate application installation with "Install Application" feature.

It would be really helpful if there were a standalone app just for "Install Application" feature. Then helpdesk persons could approve/deny the application installations with much simpler tool than full ConfigMgr console.

  5. Allow customer icons in software center for Package/Programs

Split this item from a bigger umbrella item.
This is to specify an icon per legacy package/program in the Software Center.

  6. Support User-Space Application Configuration for All Users of Device

When installing an application there is frequently a system-space component (the main install) requiring admin/system level access and a user-space component (usually configuration or licensing). Less frequently but frequent enough is that all existing users and any new users that log into the device need those user-space components. Currently there is no good, supported, method for doing so. Admins are forced to use either Active Setup (unsupported and recently broken by Win 10 IPUs), Group Policy Preferences (messy, poor targeting, and very non-obvious separation of app logic), or roll their own (login script that does a bunch of custom stuff).

  7. Make version check more flexible in the detection method for Microsoft Store Apps

When deploying an offline Microsoft Store Apps through SCCM, add an option to consider a version greater or equal to the one in the package to be installed in the detection method.

This will make SCCM play nicely with the auto-update of modern apps.

  8. Add URL Markup for Localized Description Text in an Application

Please allow URL links within the text field for localized description. This way you can include a link to contact the helpdesk or a URL for internal documentation. Particularly, the "mailto" and "href" markup.

  9. A better way of detecting programs installed in AppData

recently Microsoft have been using AppData to install applications like OneDrive and Teams, the issue is we can not use the following as a detection method (%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Teams) as the way SCCM works is it will convert %userprofile% as the service account and not the currently logged in user.

  10. Allow for creation of a deployment with type "required" for primary devices, but "available" for non primary devices

When deploying applications, it would be great to have the option to deploy the application as required to the users primary device, but within the same deployment also allow it to be available when the user logs on to a non-primary device. this will eliminate the option to create separate collections for this, as it is not possible to deploy the same application to a collection twice.

  11. Real time application repair

Support real-time application repair along side Install. Let's make it easy for our service desks to trigger a repair option. Oh and uninstall would be neat as well I guess.

  12. Make "hidden" UX option for Application Deployment Types actually hide everything

The installation program visibility in the User Experience tab on Application Deployment Types allows the selection "Hidden" which is defined as "Hidden: The deployment type runs hidden on client devices. Users see no installation activity." (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/apps/deploy-use/create-applications#bkmk_dt-ux)
However, this only applies to the FIRST process being spawned by the execution of the defined install/uninstall/repair commandline. All other processes are spawned *interactively* on the logged on user's desktop even if the option "Allow users to view and interact with the program installation" is NOT checked.

Right now this behavior prevents us from using Applications instead of Packages as exposing theā€¦

  13. Auto uninstall application based on Software Metering useage

Please add an option in the Application Model to auto uninstall the application after xx number of days. This could be linked to Software Metering. This would be extremely beneficial to manage applications for license reclamation as well as removing vulnerable applications from the environment.

  14. Make Application Deployment Status more consistent

Since 2012 RTM, ConfigMgr has inconsistent experience for application deployment monitoring described in these blog entries:

    @Michael Wray: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Configuration-Manager-Archive/Troubleshooting-In-Console-Monitoring-for-Deployments-in-System/ba-p/273015
    @Umair Khan: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/umairkhan/2014/10/02/the-case-of-the-unexplained-application-deployment-monitoring-reports-which-one-to-rely/

Basically, we count Application Infrastructure errors in all pie charts both in Monitoring\Deployments Console node and application reports, but we don't have any pre-created way to find failing clients except "Application infrastructure Errors" report.

It would be good idea to list the assets affected by infra errors in separate deployment monitoring tab, or together with failing DTs in the console. Also it would be nice to modify pre-defined reports to be more consistent and list also affected assetsā€¦

  15. Inform a user when an application has been closed by an installing package

    Running 1906 with hotfix.
When using the option to "Automatically close any running executables you specified..." while deploying a product which needs an application closed, when the deadline is reached the applications are closed, but there is no notification to the user as to why. If in front of their machine, the user will then invariably re-open the application (especially if this is Outlook) which will cause the installation to fail.
I would suggest that when the application is automatically close, a message box is shown informing the user what's happened which stays on screen until the installation is complete,ā€¦

  16. Phased Deplyments for Available applications with supersedence

Phased deployments are great, but we have lots of users, with lots of applications that are nor required, but are superseded.

Say we have 100,000 users, 50'000 have an application installed that has an update. We don't want a required deployment as not everyone has the application, and we don't just want to deploy the update to the application to 50,000 in one go. so this feature would be nice.

  17. Enhance Phased Deployment for Applications

TL;DR: Make Phased Deployments for Applications the same as Phased Deployments for Task Sequences where you can create up to 10 phases and manually initiate the second phase of deployment.

    Explanation:
Currently in 1806 although you can create a phased deployment for an Application, you're limited in two key areas:

    1) You cannot manually create phases for an application
    2) You cannot manually begin the second phase of deployment for an application
    3) You are limited to 2 phases for an application

In our environment we follow a controlled graceful deployment process where an Application Model application is deployed office-by-officeā€¦

  18. Visual confirmation policy has been downloaded

It would be great after initiating a Machine Policy Retrieval & Eval cycle if there were some visual confirmation that policy was downloaded, either a Yes/No or a total number of policies downloaded. The one visual confirmation available is the systray Software Center icon but that is sometimes suppressed depending on the deployment config. Too often people mash that Machine Policy button half a dozen times b/c they think that makes it work faster not realizing there is no policy being downloaded, for whatever reason. This would come in handy during testing as well.

  19. Add Drillthrough to Office 365 Pilot and Health Dashboard

Would like the ability to drill through to a list of devices in the Office 365 Pilot and Health Dashboard. For example, clicking the Recommended Pilot Devices bar would display the devices.

  20. uninstall deadline not honoured (App-V 4.6 application in this case)

Bug I think: I deployed the uninstall action for an App-V 4.6 application through SCCM, with a deadline in the year 2099 (to allow leeway for monitoring before and after in my testing), but it ran as soon as it hit.

Deployed to user, install outside maintenance windows (so I would see it in Software Center without having to wait till after work).

    Inconvenient, not a show-stopper.
