  1. Add the ability to specifiy Dev/Test versions of apps/packages/etc and integrate this into Task Sequence logic for easier Testing.

We maintain 2 copies of our task sequence. We make changes to the DEV TS then copy the entire TS contents into the Prod TS when we have completed testing. The issue we generally have is that we also have Dev/Test versions of our apps/packages/etc. If our DEV TS is referencing the DEV items, we then have to go through the Prod TS after we paste and update them back to the prod versions. In some cases, we've just added logic to test if we are in DEV and always use the DEV packages, but that adds extra processing steps…

    • Add the Option to rerun a deployed Task Sequence on specific Clients in a Device-Collection

Add the Option to rerun the deployed Task Sequence of a Device-Collection. Also it would be good to have the Option to rerun a deployed Task at the Monitoring-Tab in the failed-Tab.

      • Install Third Party Software Updates during TS Install Software Updates step

Currently (v1806 or later) Third Party Software Updates are not being installed during the Install Software Updates step in a Task Sequence.

Ideally third party software updates should be installed just like regular updates during the Task Sequence. A machine should be fully patched (secure and end-user ready) when it leaves the deployment bench.

          • Pre-Cache In-Place Upgrade - TS Variable to set OS Source

When doing a In-place upgrade and using Pre-Cache, the Task sequence process copies the needed files from Cache to \_SMSTaskSequence\packages. This process can take some time when the in-place upgrade media is more than 4GB. this is unnecessary, there should be a variable to say install the OS directly from cache, or like the task sequence step to Download package content have a variable for the pre-cached source files that can then be used to access the OS later when upgrading, so that the content does not have to be copied from cache to the \_SMSTaskSequence folder but rather accessed…

            • Support PXE responder to run on same server as DHCP

Currently it is not supported to use the built in PXE responder on the same server that is running DHCP. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have their own servers for SCCM DPs.

These changes are now in our 1901 Technical Preview

                Doc: https://docs.microsoft.com/sccm/core/get-started/2019/technical-preview-1901
                Blog: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Configuration-Manager-Blog/A-New-Perspective-on-Client-Health-in-ConfigMgr-Technical/ba-p/324621

When you enable a PXE responder on a distribution point without Windows Deployment Service, it can now be on the same server as the DHCP service. Add the following settings to support this configuration:
Set the DWord value DoNotListenOnDhcpPort to 1 in the following registry key: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SMS\DP.
Set DHCP option 60 to PXEClient.
Restart the SCCMPXE and DHCP services on the server.

              • Add Support for Software Updates in "Download Package Content" Task Sequence Step

It would be really useful to be able to pre-stage Software Update content (specifically Windows 10 Feature Updates) using Download Package Content Task Sequence steps.

For example, this would allow Feature Updates to be downloaded onto a Peer Cache Source to "seed" an update in a network location where there is no local Distribution Point and slow network connectivity = saving WAN bandwidth to prevent any network-related impact to clients at that location.

The same could be done for Quality Updates as required.

                • Status Update for Task Sequnce content prestage

add additional statuses to Task Sequence Deployment, so we can see if content was already downloaded when this feature is selected. Similar experience to Application Required deployment. Right now it requires lot of administrative work to check if WS is ready to start TS.

                  • Open nested task sequence from within parent task sequence

Nesting task sequences is great but the experience of finding and opening nested TS' is not great.

Adding a button to the "Run Task Sequence" step in the TS editor to 'Open Nested TS' would be fantastic.

                    • A task sequence step that dumps SMS logs to a network share on TS failure

Add a step or option to a task sequence that will dump any SMS logs to a predefined location, either a network share or USB drive.

It is a total PITA to watch every machine as a TS runs so we cant always copy the logs off before the machine automatically reboots.

                      • Add MDT Variables to Native CM task sequences

Please add the variables that are created during the MDT gather step into Native ConfigMgr.
                        Examples
                        BIOSVERSION
                        ISDESKTOP
                        ISLAPTOP
                        ISSERVER
                        ISUEFI
                        ISONBATTERY
                        MAKE
                        MODEL
                        DEFAULTGATEWAY
                        IPADDRESS001
                        OSDSTARTTIME
                        Several others

there are community tools or posts to accomplish this in a hack way, but would prefer it was standard not requiring additional content to create.

                        • Add native multiple harddrives support to OSD TS

Harddrives enumeration in TS is unclear and unpredictable. I want at first to run posh script from ramdrive to tag one drive as "system", and other as "data" or "keep content", then on next step partition "system" and "data" drives, wipe all legacy boot sectors as an option.

                          • Run executable package content (posh script or exe) from RAMdisc

I need an ability to run executable content, especially posh scripts, in winpe from RAMdisk. I mean, then there is no initialised or partitioned disks in the system.

Thanks for your feedback. Updating status to noted.

This item is very similar to "Add “AD Powershell Module” as Optional Component for boot images"

We had to decline that as we cannot ship or take a dependency on the AD module. Similarly we won’t be able to take a dependency on Azure PSH module – we can only add what’s in the ADK.

Your ask covers a bit more ground with the ability to run tasks in Azure so I’ll leave as noted for now.

                              • Task sequence step for S5 reboot (bypassing hyberboot)

Please add a task sequence step to trigger a full S5 reboot bypassing windows 10 hybrid sleep. This is required for bios updates for Lenovo computers dans requires very ugly hacks to keep the TS from exiting.

                                • Add import code button to new Run PowerShell script task sequence step

The 1811 Technical Preview added a "enter or paste a PowerShell script" function to the "Run PowerShell script" Task Sequence step. That is an awesome feature, but even more awesome would an import code button that automatically puts the code in for you when you direct it to a .ps1 script.

                                  • Integrate git into the Task Sequence for script execution

Can we please have native git integration in an OSD task sequence for script execution? This would provide version and branch control when running scripts during an OSD task sequence

                                    e.g.

                                    1. Connect to a repo in GitHub
                                    2. Download scripts as a zip file
                                    3. Extract scripts and then execute

It would be good to select a specific branch as well (e.g. develop) so you can test script changes prior to merging to master

                                    • Pre-Download option on Task Sequence with <Download Package Content>: Adhere to conditions defined on the individual TS step(s).

Instead of pre-downloading all package content when pre-downloading a TS with multiple <Download Package Content> steps, make sure the client only pre-downloads the content if the condition set on the individual TS step is evaluated to be <true>.
E.g. If Model X, I do not want to (pre-) download drivers for model Y, as this step would be skipped later-on anyway, when actually running the Upgrade TS.

PS. This extra "intelligence" would also be helpful on nested TS steps. Now the pre-download setting downloads all referenced content - for all <Download Package Content> steps - from the main TS itself,…

                                        • Add W32Tm.exe to SCCM Boot Media

When in WinPE or during initial WinPE stages of a task sequence, there is no suitable way to set or synchronise the time against another device, whether this be an SCCM server, a domain or a dedicated NTP appliance.

This is an issue in a number of cases, such as when trying to PXE boot a device, when trying to communicate with the SCCM server for policies and simply creating complete and chronologically ordered logs.

Evidently, the SCCM team already know that a time synchronisation is important, as it is literally the first step after the device has joined a…
