  2. Fix Pre-Download when using "Run another program first"

If you deploy a Task sequence that has Run another program first checked in properties and you also check pre-download content, the only thing downloaded is the program you want to run first. The program I am trying to run first is a deferral screen for OSD upgrade with user interaction. Either the pre-download should download everything in the task sequence or give you options of what you want to download. When doing OS upgrades with remote users you need everything in place before you can run the task sequence incase they drop vpn.

    Thanks,

  3. Recurring deployment scheduling

We would like to see a way to create a custom, recurring schedule for task sequences deployed to a collection. Currently we can set a start and end time for the deployment. We deploy large packages through our task sequences, and we have a lot of people imaging computers. If we could limit the deployment to only be available after-hours and on the weekends, this would prevent someone, maybe a new person, from deciding to image multiple labs at one time during business hours.

  5. Feature check Package Hash mismatch errors with packages referenced to Task Sequence on Distribution points.

Feature check Package Hash mismatch errors with packages referenced to Task Sequence on Distribution points.

I hope there might be lots of package hash mismatch errors with packages when we do OSD deployments and applications deployments.

As every one is migrating/updating current SCCM to new Current branch.

a feature can be added to check the hash values are correct on distribution points to correc the issues to avoid delays in providing the support to for deployments.

This feature can be help full to check the single package status on slected DP or multiple.

Also to check with packages/applications referenced toā€¦

  6. powershell TS conditions

I think it is about time that we had the ability to use Powershell to query and set conditions within the task sequence. I.E. we currently use WMI queries to check bios versions to decide whether or not to upgrade the bios version similar to this ā€¦
    "SELECT * FROM Win32_BIOS WHERE SMBIOSBIOSVersion < "1.9.3""
the problem with this is this is a string value so with POSh you could easily convert that to an integer and then use that as your condition.
What I would like to see is something similar to the new edit script interface in 1902ā€¦

  7. Add email capability to OSD Task Sequence

It would be really nice if we could add email functionality to an OSD Task Sequence. Currently we have to call all of our techs and make sure nobody is imaging before we can make any changes. If we could be notified when a TS begins and ends then it would make it much easier to manage things remotely.

Updating status to Noted. Thanks for the feedback, we have a similar item in our Database. The goal was a task sequence step that could notify a user or technician on completion or error. Another case was to pair with Windows 10 Upgrade – allow setup.exe to run silently with /Compat then send an e-mail notifying the user or admin that the machine is ready to upgrade.

    https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/configmgreng/2016/03/11/configmrguv/

  8. settings per task sequence

MDT 2010 had the ability to run different settings in customsettings.ini for each task sequence. This feature was removed in MDT 2012. I would like to request that it is brought back. Currently, the only method to have the functionality back is to edit DeployWiz_Validation.vbs, see https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/e17a1952-d1f7-41ef-8231-0d6fcc41882e/mdt-2012-settings-per-task-sequence?forum=mdt

  9. Password Protection only for "Unkown Computer"

Currently you can only protect a PXE enabled DP completely with a Password. So ZTI would brake for known Computers. But to prevent unknown Computers to accidentally been reinstalled a Password Protection is usefull.

Please make it possible that a DP only asks unknown Computers for a PW to proceed the OSD. Know Computers which will be reinstalled should not be ask for a PW so that ZTI is possible.

    Thanks an best Regards

  10. Result screen for Collection & Machine variables

At most of my customers, we are working with collection- or machine variables to be flexible during OS deployment with languages, application installations or something else.
In some cases, there are so much collections with different variables, that it is very hard to find where a variable is coming from.
Perhaps, you can use a dialog in context menu of a device like 'client settings' - 'Resultant Client Settings'.
In this dialog, collect every variable with it's source like
    Variable 1 - Collection x
    Variable 33 - Collection Z
    Variable 232- Machine Variable

  13. Show different icon for Task Sequence steps with active condition or continue on error in TS Editor

The Task Sequence editor shows a green icon for every active step and a grey icon for every disabled step. It world be great if you could see on the icon if an active step has an execution condition (maybe a blue icon) or is set to continue on error.

At the moment you have to click on every step and switch to the options tab to get this information.

    Refreshing the status

We released our 1907 Technical Preview today, that adds search functionality to the task sequence editor. Part of that allows filtering by ‘Continue on Error’ and can search Conditions too.

    See:
    Doc: https://docs.microsoft.com/sccm/core/get-started/2019/technical-preview-1907
    Blog: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Configuration-Manager-Blog/Search-in-the-Task-Sequence-Editor-in-ConfigMgr-Technical/ba-p/748909
    for more details.

Searching is quicker then browsing for an icon, try it out and let us know if this meets your ask.

  14. add "not like" in the task sequence condition, variable

Add "not like" in the task sequence condition, variable. If we have like, wouldn't it be reasonable to have not like as well? I have some scenarios that are easily resolved with a "not like" condition for a task sequence variable, but more complex with just "like"

  15. Add keyboard layout settings in the Apply Windows Settings step

I would like you to add the keyboard layout setting in the Apply Windows Settings step.
Please add it as shown in the screenshot below.
Currently, keyboard layout settings are manually added to the registry within the Task Sequence.

    Command line:
    cmd.exe /c reg add HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt\Parameters /f /v "LayerDriver JPN" /t REG_SZ /d kbd106.dll & reg add HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt\Parameters /f /v "OverrideKeyboardIdentifier" /t REG_SZ /d PCAT_106KEY & reg add HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt\Parameters /f /v "OverrideKeyboardSubtype" /t REG_DWORD /d 2 & reg add HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt\Parameters /f /v "OverrideKeyboardType" /t REG_DWORD /d 7

  16. Add native error handling section to task sequences.

Within a task sequence it would be great if we had better native error handling. Right now it's possible to get log files via powershell scripts and tricking task sequences with a step that looks for _SMSTSLastActionSucceeded = False, but this causes us to lose accurate error descriptions if we also want to setup a status filter rule.

Instead having native error handling that would simply copy the computers last smsts.log to a share would be fantastic that way status filter rules still work.

  17. Task Sequence Allow Application Installs by Administrative Categories

We'd like to see the following functionality added to the Install Application Task Sequence step.

Install application according to administrative categories.

We as a point of practice ALWAYS include some kind of Administrative Category in the Applications we package in SCCM it would be nice to have a way to leverage that in something more than just filtering in Configuration Manager searches

dynamic variable list is kind of nice but we have to set a variable list in EVERY Collection we want to deploy said applications to and if we have to add or remove an application we have toā€¦

  18. Enable Task Sequences to automate an existing OEM/Reset image (from OOBE)

Part of the big push for modern management, and solutions such as AutoPilot, is so that you "don't need to spend time replacing a perfectly good OS that is already on the device". Especially when dealing with clean devices such as Surface, this makes complete sense... except in cases where AutoPilot and Intune aren't used or cannot be used.

My suggestion is: Let's create an option for a PXE-enabled Task Sequence to run, and essentially perform the automation of the existing OOBE, by essentially bypassing the partitioning and WIM application steps. That way, much like the selling points for modernā€¦

  19. Upgrade Windows 10 OS Image in console

Upgrade Windows 10 OS Image to latest version within the console (via Offline Servicing) instead of having to run build/capture Task Sequence to generate a new WIM.

    Thanks for the feedback

We looked into this to see what was possible with Offline Servicing – the ‘Upgrade roll-ups’ are executables. Offline Servicing is limited to CBS (Component Based Setup) updates – same as what can be applied via DISM – based on that build/capture remains the way to go. Using OS Upgrade then Capture works well too.

  20. Task Sequence Media - Bootable but with content

Allow adding content for a task sequence to a media that works like the Bootable media, if content is local and up2date use that otherwise pull from DP.

And if this content would be stored on the media but outside the .wim file, it would not increase load time for WinPE and maybe even allow updates of single items instead of rebuild entire media to include small changes to content
