  1. WinPE vlan tagging support

    winpe vlan tagging support

During the build of physical servers with OSD, WinPE is (obviously) required. WinPE does not currently support VLAN tagging. This requires special switch configuration to assign default/native VLAN. This is not manageable. And with DVR growing, native/default will be going entirely away.

We need the option to do VLAN tagging / Layer 3 from WinPE.

  2. Extend timeout on standalone media creation

    Hello

I'm trying to create a 'big' stand alone media..and timeout is not enough.. actually, if i select everything, timeout generate an error ..

could you think a possibilities to extend the timeout for big infrastructure and task like me ?

  3. User State Migration - Show online systems & Right-click options

When viewing computer associations show the devices as online similar to viewing in Devices.

If possible give some more right-click options even if it was just the option to right-click and it ports you to the source and/or destination system in Devices.

  4. Remove Default Appx/FODv2 via OSD TS step

Create a TS step to enumerate Appx packages and provisioned packages from the install image and be able to toggle on/off for enterprise deployments. Or provide a list to enable/disable approved that are removed from image during deployment. Annoying to have to use a custom PowerShell script to have to set a list of white-listed/approved apps/features and then uninstall during OSD.

  5. Windows 10 20.04

After creating new deploymentshares, and then building a new 2019 deployment server. MDT can't deploy Windows 10 20.04. 6 days spent reading forums, docs and so much more. I have applied the bdd patche as requested but I still get a total failure.
Sysprep simply does not open or run. The system restarts with out running sysprep. There is nothing on the subject to help me.

  6. TS Step "Add Operating System Images" should allow to add esd file

Step "Add Operating System Images" should allow adding install.esd file.

When we extract ISO for Windows 10 version. We can see install.esd instead of install.wim file. This has come as new change by microsoft. Rather than providing wim file, they have started providing esd file which make sense as it reduces size by approximately 30%, the same format we can see for Feature Update as well once downloaded through SCCM Windows 10 Servicing.

I am aware of the fact that we can convert the esd to wim by running command:
    dism /export-image /SourceImageFile:install.esd /SourceIndex:1 /DestinationImageFile:install.wim /Compress:max /CheckIntegrity

    But this seemsā€¦

  7. Upgrade "supported" ISO to work with SCCM

The current ISO for Windows 10 2016 LTSB (build 14393.0) does not identify any OS upgrades from SCCM. An investigation determined that the windows upgrade engine was "too old" to talk to current SCCM infrastructure and you have to manually upgrade the newly deployed operating system so that it can be patched. We don't see that as MS supporting the operating system.

  8. OSD on WinPE boot failures should not force WinPE to simply reboot without displaying some error information.

Often times, when WinPE boots and there is an error before OSD completely loads, WinPE simply reboots without showing any errors and does not give you the opportunity to gather log files via console. While this issue is typically a driver or time issue, it's impossible to know for sure without looking at the logs. This forces the techs to submit tickets and for the SysAdmins to guess as to the cause of the issue.

  9. SWM support for Operating System Images and Upgrade Packages

To improve download content experience for computers with very low network bandwith. It's only managed with standalone media.

  10. Option to prevent user sign on during task sequence upgrade after a system restart

Due to us upgrading Office and Windows 10 versions we have noticed that a number of users are logging in and breaking the Office upgrades it would be appreciated if SCCM had an option to not allow the user the ability to sign back into the device until the task sequence has finished running.

An example of this is when the task sequence runs in WINPE mode.

  11. Application installation inside Task-Sequence

It would be nice to install the Applications assigned to device and to Primary user inside the Task-Sequence.
    Criteria could be followed:
    - Install Deployment (not available)
    - not retired
    - last Version / Revision of Application / DeploymentType

Maybe, some more criteria are possible or required :-)

    Benefit:
If the Task-Sequence finished, Client is ready to use without waiting of install applications aso.

  12. ipv6 relay encapsulation support

This will probably be very low prio for most people, but here goes. when SCCM PXE is done in an IPv6 network, where DHCP is handled over a dhcp relay, PXE boot may fail with error "invalid packet structure".
cause analysis led to the following statement:

"Your relay agent is encapsulating the original DHCPv6 packet in a relay-forward message (12). This is currently not supported by the SCCM PXE server. The SCCM PXE server currently only supports bare forwarded DHCPv6 packets.

DHCPv6 message 12 is a quite tricky for the current SCCM PXE server because you can have nested message12s."

  13. Task sequence deployment to run when no user is logged on.

It would be great to have the same user experience conditions available in Application deployments for Task Sequence deployments. That way we could deploy required in-place upgrades of Win10 that will install once the user logs off and not rely on the user to start the Available deployment themselves.

  14. Allow a local user (admin or not an admin) to be added in a Task Sequence

It is possible to *** a local user/group to a local machine during OSD using the net command or PowerShell but it is impossible to do this so that the password is encrypted. PowerShell requires the key so it has to be made on the same machine but that's not always possible. Net command requires the password in plain text, also not desirable.

  15. DCR: OSD Task Sequence - Create Baseline of existing TS and allow Remediation

From my field experience I have seen many times OS Deployments which did not really succeed, because of Continue on error conditions. In most cases the reason was to not end up with systems staying in Provisioning Mode. I know some guys just "re-deploy" the TS with checks if everything was done properly. This brought up the idea - why not using Compliance Settings for this purpose? At least to check if the system meets the Desired Baseline. Everything needed should be stored in the Task Sequence anyway and it would allow a "Report" summary client side after Deployment.

  16. Re-think task sequence policy download in OS

Currently deployed task sequences create a lot of policy download and slow down the initialisation of a workstation. If they worked like in bootable media, or another way - I don't know if say downloading the TS policies as a zip would help?

  17. OSD - task sequence media

when creating a stand alone media, a option to update an existing ISO would be great. also, would be great if you could create an iso and an extract of the iso (like on MDT) so when you copy the files using a slow link connection you only need to copy the changed files and not all files.

  18. OSD - task sequence media - network

the task sequence media has been created for offline scenarios, so the data does not get copied to the sccm. it would be great to have a task sequence media that is online, so all information is also sent and the checks also happen, like a boot image does, the only difference would be instead of downloading the software from the DP it would use the local usb/dvd disk

  19. Let the TSAgent consume enough RAM in VMs configured with Dynamic Memory for OSD compatibility checks to succeed

Setup: Hyper-V Gen2 VM configured with 1GB startup RAM, Min 512MB, Max 4GB.

I was testing servicing Windows 10 1511 to Windows 10 1607 on my VM and the compatibility check failed because the VM was only consuming 1560MB at the time of the compatibility check. I'd think that it would be able to tell if the VM's maximum RAM value was higher than the minimum RAM requirement for Windows 10.

  20. Install Software updates TS step improvements

The "Install Software Updates" TS step could use some improvements, including adding an option to run a package after the reboots (before update step continue), and customizing the restart time-out and messages. The status messages are also pretty vague. For example, we know that after it installs the updates it can check for updates again, but it doesn't actually say when it's doing that. I've also noticed some blank black screens showing up for at least a minute as it is about to reboot.
