  1. Create a more rich driver experience

The console lacks some serious depth. If using the Auto Apply driver step, it would be nice to have a way to filter more. Showing all checked driver packages for example. Another welcomed change would be to have more filtering for the window below instead of only allowing you to type simple text that will clear out any checks for current driver packs.

In addition there should be a way to update driver packages that exist already to decrease the clutter from different driver packages. Manufacturers release updated packages and it would be nice to upload the new packages andā€¦

  2. Change USMT Encryption Strength during OSD

Currently, when using the USMT steps for capture and restore in a Task Sequence, it is not possible to customize the encryption strength to anything besides the default 3DES, since the "/encrypt" is hard coded into the Task Sequence Step. Adding /encrypt:"encryptionstrength" to the "OSDMigrateAdditionalCaptureOptions" TS variable causes the step to fail.

Please add an option to customize the encryption strength for USMT during OSD.

  3. Client platform filtering on custom global condition

Would be nice to filter OSD Task sequences with custom global condition (Run only on the specified platforms).

  4. Task Sequence Steps - Add ability to run step under specific account already stored in "Administration > Security > Accounts"

The ability to run a step under a specific account is fantastic but if it had the functionality to select from a list of the service accounts already being used by Configuration manager, then updating all task sequences when you change the password would be a much simpler task.

  6. Status Update for Task Sequnce content prestage

add additional statuses to Task Sequence Deployment, so we can see if content was already downloaded when this feature is selected. Similar experience to Application Required deployment. Right now it requires lot of administrative work to check if WS is ready to start TS.

  7. Download Package Content - Move instead of Copy and Delete

When utilizing the "Download Package Content" TS step and choosing to download to "Configuration Manager client cache", the data is first downloaded to the temporary folder _smstasksequence. After that the data is copied to the Client Cache folder (%windir%\ccmcache) and as a last step the data is removed from the _smstasksequence folder.
This process means that before the data in _smstasksequence is deleted, 2 copies of all data reside on the disk.
This results in the need for extra free space (2x the data) for the running TS.
A move instead of copy and delete might be a better option.

  8. Be able to Set autologon during TS for Kiosk PCs

    Hello,

It would be wonderful if we could set Autologon during task sequence since we can create really nice provisinog package from ADK and use DISM during WinPe to set assigned access to a certain account and app.

It would be awesome if we could somehow stop SCCM to remove autologon when TS is completed so we dont have to create workarounds after the TS is completed.

  9. Improve Task Sequence selection, hide testing task sequences, user based policy availability

we have 10 Task Sequences accross 10 countries, and 10 test task sequences that show up in the same list. It would be nice to be able to easily hide deployments that are only for testing, and not production. If at the beginning of a T.S. , user domain credentials could be entered, and that would determine T.S. availability. Or they could be greyed out if not to be run by that user.

  10. Problem with verifying connection in Join Domain step

I'm seeing an issue with verifying the account used for joining the domain in a task sequence. Despite choosing a domain and OU, when I click verify it is defaulting to Users > Contoso

  11. Disk number variable for Format and Partition Disk step

Sometimes OSD does not put Windows on the drive that we want in systems with multiple drives because of things like raid/SAS controllers or nVME. If you allow a variable to be used for the "disk number" in the format and partition step, a custom UI could be used to select the correct disk number from WMI and send that variable (which is just a number) to the format and partition step.

  12. Telemetry or Management Insights which USMT store roaming client is going to use

I would like to se some telemetry / insights where client is going to push its USMT data before deployment starts. Need to know if disk space is sufficient on USMT stores.

As clients roam the network, I cannot predict where yesterday's clients are going to push their USMT data today when deployment starts.

  13. Allow Task Sequence Editor to retain the window size from the previous session.

The default window is too small to see the window pane contents properly. It always needs to be enlarged. Either make it larger as a default or allow the user to set the size and retain it across sessions.

  14. Intuitive User State Migration and the ability to capture and restore automatically.

It would be great to have the ability to customize the USMT without being burdened with XML configuration. Although this could remain as an option being able to restrict themes from migrated and restrict pulling over the registry would be great. Sometimes with the registry you can often pull problems over with the migration.

  15. Include condition evaluation in the success or failure of a TS step

When Task Sequence condition evaluation fails for any particular step, set the TS variable SMSTSLastActionSucceeded to false. OR create a separate variable SMSTSLastEvaluationSucceeded to control this.

  16. Lookup Automatic for Task Sequence Variables

when editing an existing task sequence and creating new conditions based on variable values, why not add an auto lookup or list of all Task Sequence variables existing in this same task sequence. it will make condition creation more easy and less error possible. Most easy to pick up existing variables in task sequence

  17. Make some fail codes less cryptic when task sequences fail

A good example is when a task sequence fails due to a duplicate UUID / Nachine Name. Have the fail message explain the failure & list the actual duplicate UUID / Machine Name displayed.

  18. too many deployments

For a larger organization that handles 120+ image configurations (same base image but different software installed depending on the task sequence used), we run into problems with the deployment size to 'unknown computers' being too large and ends up breaking imaging to unknown machines.

We'd like to see this limit either increased or removed, as it's constantly causing us issues.

  19. Here's a really wonderfull idea, how about you make the office 365 installer actually work when you deploy them to machines.

Created an Office 365 installer using the console and deployed it to machines, it doesn't work. When I copy the files manually and run them it gives me a very un-descriptive message saying a compatible version of office needs to be installed. So do I have to install office to install office? How does that work? Seriously, don't even put these features into SCCM unless they work, I've wasted a day on this. Absolute joke, we pay a fortune for SCCM.

  20. Run existing Powershell Script without specifying package

"Run PowerShell Script" task sequence step needs a way to specify an existing script to run without needing to specify a package. For example, I already have working powershell scripts in my sms10000 folder. I should be able to specify %_SMSTSMDataPath%\SMS10000\somescript.ps1 as the script. That way scripts written to reference $PSScriptRoot, load powershell modules, reference relative paths, etc... will behave as expected.
