  1. When copying collection or task sequence any password variables are empty, there should be a window to set all those variables at once

After copying collection and task sequence, it is easily missed to configure all those passwords hidden at the collection variables and in various task sequence steps.

There is no reminder or anything, so it would be nice if there is a popup to prompt for all those passwords.

  2. Fix Pre-Download when using "Run another program first"

If you deploy a Task sequence that has Run another program first checked in properties and you also check pre-download content, the only thing downloaded is the program you want to run first. The program I am trying to run first is a deferral screen for OSD upgrade with user interaction. Either the pre-download should download everything in the task sequence or give you options of what you want to download. When doing OS upgrades with remote users you need everything in place before you can run the task sequence incase they drop vpn.

    Thanks,

  3. Ability to easily copy files during TS to any location on computer

It would be nice to be able to have a built in step to be able to select a folder/file from a share and then a location on Windows to copy the files to.

  4. Provide GUI option in disk partitioning Task Sequence step to guarantee drive letter selection

We were trying to build a Windows 10 deployment and got stuck for a little while. We used the 1511 WIM from VLSC and had the OSPreserveDriveLetter = True variable. We did NOT do a build and Capture to create the customized WIM. We used the Stocked 1511 WIM to try and lay down the Windows 10 Image.

After lots of reading, troubleshooting, and frustrations, we were finally able to get the TS to use the C drive to lay down the OSDisk.

It would be awesome if we could have a task sequence step that allows the OSD adminā€¦

In 1606 we have deprecated OSDPreserveDriveLetter – instead of using the captured driver letter the change leaves Windows Setup to determine the best drive letter.

  5. Dynamic application and package deployment for prestage media

We are trying to use prestage media to deploy images to machines on sites with little bandwidth, but still with a network connection to the corporate network.

We have a large number of sites and our current online build uses an MDT database with Roles and Make / Model configurations for a large number of sites and hardware types.

Within each of these, we have a number of packages and applications which are installed depending on the site / model required.

This all works fine for an online build, however when using prestage media, even if we include the packagesā€¦

  6. Import computer information automaticlaly update All Systems

After importing a computer it takes about 5 minutes until it appears in the desired collection. For some customers this leads to unnecessary confusion. The reason is as far as I can tell that the computer doesn't even appear in All Systems. If you execute an update membership on All Systems, the computer immediately arrives in the desired collection.
I would like to suggest the following change: After importing a computer, All Systems should be updated immediately.

  7. Allow additional customization of the task sequence dialog

Please allow additional customization in the Task Sequence High Impact Dialog Box. Enable or Disable the Individual Comment Boxes completely, and allow Hyper Links to launch a web page with more information.

  8. Fix Task Sequence refresh after vieing content status

In the SCCM Console (doesn't matter what version, I'm using 1511), If a task sequence is under a folder, and if you select View Content Status from the Reference tab, it will take you to there, BUT if you go back to the task sequence or click the back button, all task sequences are gone until. If you try to hit F5 or refresh, you will receive and error: "The requested object could not be retrieved..."

  9. Tasks sequence - 'Install applications' task with multiple apps should not report 'Succeeded' state message between apps

A device on which a tasks sequence is running should report as "Running" as long as the tasks sequence has not reached its end, and report accordingly under the deployment summary tab and SSRS reports.

    Consider this scenario:
    1. Create a tasks sequence
    2. Add an 'Install Application' task, and chain a couple of applications in this task.
    3. Add another different task following it -- i.e. a 'Restart computer' task.
    4. Deploy this tasks sequence on a device.
    5. In the ConfigMgr console, go to Monitoring > Deployment, and display the TS deployment
    6. Frequently refresh this deployment summaryā€¦

  10. Background content prestaging

What if during TS steps, content prestaged in the background while existing TS steps were running? There could be a "watcher" behind the scenes that the TS step checks in with to see if a download has completed, making the content available.

We can currently use prestaging to download content beforehand but that still takes the same amount of time to download the content from the DP as if it did that while running the step.

  11. bandwidth throttling for OSD

The "Rate Limits" tab on a DP works for transfers from the Primary to a DP. Can we make Rate Limits work while re-imaging computers on the local subnet? We have had users complain that the network is slow while doing OSD. Intelligent bandwidth throttling on the local subnet that a DP manages could help stop this.

  12. Improve Collapsible Task Sequence Groups

The Task Sequence Editor should not expand collapsed groups when any changes are made. Once a group is collapsed it should remain collapsed until I expand it. It should also remember what groups were collapsed between editing sessions.

Essentially make it work like the editor in MDT does. The editor in MDT already does this.

  13. Import settings from one Task Sequence into another

Currently Task Sequences can be backed up and restore via the ConfigMgr PowerShell module. When it is time for Dev TS's to become production, it would be nice to be able to import the settings from the Dev TS directly into the production one. This way deployments don't need to be recreated and changes don't need to be meticulously documented and recreated in the production TS.
Simply replacing the prod TS with the Dev one isn't as clean as new TS's take much, much longer to show up in the Software Center.

  15. Add Architecture Column in Driver Catalog

Add a column in the Driver Catalog for x86 and x64 Architecture.

It would also be nice if Architecture was searchable in the Search field.

  16. In-Place Upgrade cache

client cache cleanup in preparation of an in-place upgrade TS. We have seen that when attempting to perform a pre-cache deployment, the deployment will fail if there is no cache available, even if set cache size is large enough to hold the required content.

There should be an ability to detect the total size of content potentially required, validate the sccm client size remaining. Possibly a deployment flag to allow the deploy to clean the cache to proceed or not.

  17. Allow to select Management Point in WinPE based on boundary/boundary group

There are several scenarios where this would be really helpfull, especially in High-Security environments where clients and servers are spread accorss different Firewall Zones. WinPe will eventually query the right MP for policy but it could take a while.

  18. Add option to "Run PowerShell Script" Task Sequence step to run as a 64-bit process

Posted as a bug on connect (https://connect.microsoft.com/ConfigurationManagervnext/feedback/details/2183906) but would also like this as a feature. We are running a PowerShell script that adds Microsoft .NET Framework types (classes) to a Windows PowerShell session (via Add-Type). On 64-bit OS it must run under a 64-bit PowerShell process in order to be successful. Otherwise it just fails with exit code 1. As a work-around we can run a command line step.

  19. Information dialog for "Check Readiness"

When "Check Readiness" fail because of requirements then the result is a error dialog without any information why it fails.
So yes we can go into logs and tell why it fails but for the users that started for example Windows 10 upgrade the error message is not clear.

It would be good if it can say why it failed.
    Example:
Not enough disk space. Require drive with XXXXMB
