  1. download wim directly from SCCM console

Allow to download windows wim file from SCCM console. Windows 10 is available from online publicly using media creator tool. So adding this option will make it easier to download in one place

  2. Create a more rich driver experience

The console lacks some serious depth. If using the Auto Apply driver step, it would be nice to have a way to filter more. Showing all checked driver packages for example. Another welcomed change would be to have more filtering for the window below instead of only allowing you to type simple text that will clear out any checks for current driver packs.

In addition there should be a way to update driver packages that exist already to decrease the clutter from different driver packages. Manufacturers release updated packages and it would be nice to upload the new packages andā€¦

  3. Install required applications deployed for a PC during Task Sequence - as we can do with Updates

As in the topic : we have a step to install Required or Available updates during TS.
I would love to have such step for applications - deployed for a PC and/or for Primary User, if UDA was defined first

  4. More useful OSD failure window

It would be super helpful if the OSD failure window can actually provide useful information - rather than just the error code of the last executed step. At least also display the name of the step where the failure occurred. I often get a screenshot of the error code and that doesn't help me at all.

So often when I troubleshoot OSD, it is with computers in remote site. While walking someone over phone through launching command prompt, cd here, copy these files there, etc - it is such a tedious process.

I would love to see a way toā€¦

  5. DCR : Change "Pre-download content for Task Sequence" description in GUI

This is a DCR request to update the Desploy TS wizard. The option to "Pre-Download content for this task sequence" is by itself misleading. Technicians attempting to deploy a TS, select the option "Pre-Download content for this task sequence" believing all content will be downloaded. Leveraging this option with a Software TS or without an upgrade package, often results in unexpected errors.

By design this features currently only applies to the OS upgrade package and related drivers. The only place this is mentioned in the CONFIGMGR console is when the feature is enabled.
"Pre-cache content on client for available deploymentā€¦

Updating status to Noted. Thanks for the feedback.

The Pre-download content for this task sequence applies to all statically referenced packages OS Images, SWD, Driver Packages, OS Upgrade Packages. If pre-download is set and the task sequence references 1 OS Image, 20 Driver Packages then all 21 will pre-download to cache. Only the OS Upgrade package uses the pre-download logic – match for Language and Architecture.

We’ll likely add a ‘Learn more’ FWDLink to something like https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/osd/deploy-use/create-a-task-sequence-to-upgrade-an-operating-system rather than change the string. As we add more objects to use Pre-download conditions then we can keep the link updated.

  6. Expose Chained Task Variables

The policy body found in "_SMSTSTaskSequence" contains variables specific to Chained Task Sequences that could be leveraged throughout the build. They all start with "OSDSubTasksequence"

The value of exposing this data, would allow for a more streamlined versioning process when using "Software Task Sequencs". A step could be set in the "master" task sequence to "tag" the system with a version of the software stack being loaded. Provided the version was part of the software task sequence name.

  7. MVP-Task Sequence join azure AD

With more and more devices being connected to azure AD, SCCM should have an option to perform a zti deployment and join the newly deployed Windows 10 to azure AD only. not hybrid where GPO needs to exist, but a native support where the connection to SCCM already exist but the computer will not be connected to the onprem domain.

  8. Referencing the same Task Sequence Variable in Set Task Sequence Variable

There are certain Task Sequence Variables, for example %OSDSetupAdditionalUpgradeOptions%, that you might want to define differently, based on certain criterias.

Right know, you would need to define the existing value of the Variable again, when appending a new Value.

It would be useful, to use the existing Variable in the "Set Task Sequence Variable" Step, to prevent this. Right know, the actual Variable Name will be used instead of the Value.

In the attached Scenario, the Windows Setup would use "%OSDSetupAdditionalUpgradeOptions% /CopyLogs \\file\share" instead of "/InstallLangPacks C:\path\to\lp /CopyLogs \\file\share"

  9. Protect Task Sequence from Admins by Default

It is still too easy to deploy a destructive task sequence to a large number of devices. It would be good to include this logic as a checkbox on the Task Sequence object. On by default https://twitter.com/colinford/status/898340535617835008?s=19

  10. Add additional OOBE options to the Apply OS Step

I don't know if this is possible, but it would be very useful to be able to customize the OOBE option in the TS through the GUI. Currently you need to create an xml file for customization with WSIM, which works, and provides a ton of options, but it would be nice to have a generic set of the most common options as checkboxes or something. If someone needs further customization they could use an XML file instead. Part of the problem is that many options are "deprecated" yet they still seem to work?

  11. Rename task sequence when copying it.

I'd like to be able to put in the name of the copy as I make it and not have to go into properties and then rename it. This takes forever considering how slow SCCM often goes. So to save time being able to rename it when I right click and hit Copy would be ideal. Plus having the copy cut off half of my task sequence name with Hex nonesense is annoying.

  12. Include DART in ConfigMgr Boot Images as standard

Having DART included in the boot images for ConfigMgr would make remove monitoring of OS Deployments much easier without us having to manually integrate it into the boot images.

  13. Disk number variable for Format and Partition Disk step

Sometimes OSD does not put Windows on the drive that we want in systems with multiple drives because of things like raid/SAS controllers or nVME. If you allow a variable to be used for the "disk number" in the format and partition step, a custom UI could be used to select the correct disk number from WMI and send that variable (which is just a number) to the format and partition step.

  14. Built-in support for BIOS and TPM update for 3rd party hardware

It would be really great to have a built-in task sequence step that could update BIOS and TPM form Lenovo, Dell, HP etc, during OSD.

  15. Offline Servicing

Could you add an option to add some sort of version control for offline servicing, i.e. option to alter the name or version number. i know there is a BAk file but this get this in the console with new versions.

Also an option to clean the image after an offline update. as the image can grow quite a bit after the updates.

  16. Instead of password-protecting bootmedia, have users authenticate using Active Directory credentials

It would be interesting if it were possible to protect bootmedia not just with a common password, but instead with a username/password authentication to ActiveDirectory.

  17. Embedded image file in Pre-Staged images should not supersede what the task says

When creating a Pre-Staged Media, the image files should be treated like any other media in that if it's not required anymore then it should be ignored and the right image file downloaded from the closest distribution point.

    Scenario we have now:
We created a Pre-Staged media last year that included Windows 10 1607. We have now moved on to 1703 but haven't had the time to go through the full testing of a new media so our OEM is still putting the pre-stage media with 1607. When the machine starts it's task sequence, when it comes to the image,ā€¦

  18. Native Certificate TPM Attestation during deployment

at the moment we need to use scripts with passwords in it against a CES/CEP because SMS Agent is in provisioning mode. It would be great to do certificate enrollments during deployment with the certificate enrollment point as the proxy. we use tpm attested certificates to check if the machine is known to increase security

  19. Directly Edit child task sequence

It would be nice to be able to edit a child task sequence directly from the master task sequence editor without having to go back to the config mgr console.
(like right click >edit on a "run task sequence" step.)

  20. Add automatic Peer Cache prefill task sequence synchronization

Behavior today: You have a OSD task sequence deployed for your "normal" client installations (from DPs) and also a dedicated prefill task sequence for pushing needed OSD content on the Peer Cache source machines.
Now whenever you do changes in the "normal" TS you also have to change content and/or steps in the prefill TS manually. If you forget it, clients may download content remotely or OSD fails.
I would like to propose an automatism, e.g. right-click on the "normal" TS, with a command to synchronize all changes with the selected prefill TS.
