  1. Ability to remove store apps from Windows 10 feature upgrades/servicing plans

When using the "Servicing Plan" feature to deploy feature upgrades, all generic windows 10 store apps are re-installed.

Add the ability either remove store apps from Windows 10 feature upgrades/servicing plans or at least control which windows 10 apps are included in the feature pack upgrades.

Having to use OSD task sequences to control these built-in apps and apply the feature upgrades is tedious.

  2. Supported Move OU step in task Sequence

A supported step to reassign a OU in a task sequence instead of having to rely on vbscripts or powershell scripts to perform this function. Seems this could be based off the network settings step easy.

  3. Add the ability to run Software Updates with a Stand-Alone Media

Please add the ability to run software updates with a stand-alone media. This would allow us to add software updates to our reference images without having to use PXE.

  4. Fix offline servicing so it doesn't show unapplicable updates

Whenever I use offline servicing to inject updates into a .wim, it always shows updates that I have previously tried to inject that have not been applicable.

It would be much better if it would properly scan and record what updates were previously unapplicable and not show you them anymore.

  5. Image Offline update status shows Installed where update is APPLICABILITY_CHECK_NOT_SUPPORTED

When updating an image offline, some updates are shown as APPLICABILITY_CHECK_NOT_SUPPORTED in the offlineservicing.log and are skipped. However, they are shown as Installed in the console. This is confusing and should be corrected

  6. Fix OSD Re-run Behavior

    Consider the following...

You Deploy an OSD TS to a Lab and the Lab images Successfully. Next year you wish to Refresh that same Lab. You deploy this TS to the lab with the default 'Re-run Behavior' and it immediately shows as Successful because it was run before. You do another schedule and switch the 'rerun behavior' to 'Always rerun.' Lab images, grabs policy, images, grabs policy, images.........

This seems like a huge flaw to me especially for those environments that Refresh certain Labs annually (K-12, Education). I'll now have to remember each Summer to either create a new TSā€¦

  8. OS Task Sequence End User experience

    Hi ConfigMgr Team,

First of all great work - we see that our feedback on your product is recognized and changes are implemented! You are an absolute role model @MS!

It would be nice to implement a better End User Experience for upgrading Windows 10 with an Task Sequence, because upgrading in Enterprise is not the same like upgrading on the devices at home. I think about third party security software, run only if not on battery, check if device has VPN or is connected via LAN to the corporate Network...

I saw some approaches in the new Upgrade 1802ā€¦

  9. Mobile / Network connection during task sequence

During task sequences if both a LTE and ethernet connection is present, the build will fail due to windows detecting the mobile connection. It would be very useful if it was able to not fail and just use the Ethernet connection.

  10. Task Sequence - Restart Computer to ANY boot image

When you choose Restart Computer in a Task Sequence you can only choose the assigned boot image or the installed OS. This requires we have duplicate Task Sequences for 32-bit vs 64-bit for UEFI, or we have to create child-Task Sequence relationships when really we should just be able to pick a boot image like any other package!

    Options should be:
    - Installed OS
    - Assigned Boot Image
    - Select a Boot Image

  11. Task sequence fails in Configuration Manager if software updates require multiple restarts

    Hey,

I am using CM 1802 and deploying Windows 10 1803. Used install software updates as part of the OSD TS. The TS fails even though I use SMSTSWaitForSecondReboot - 120 Seconds. The TS waits but eventually it fails saying 'Task Sequence environment not found.' leaving client in provisioning mode.

  12. Run command line doesn't handle reboot -> Should add feature for everything

When using run command line, the exit code from the command isn't sent back to sccm. Samething with powershell. Thus, unless the command is not found, it's always a success.

But worst, and that's the core, there's no reboot handling. Thus if a hard reboot occur, after the reboot, no more TS. Every step in the task sequence should handle unexpected reboot properly.

  13. Option to override Maintenance Window for asset awaiting a Task Sequence?

On occasion we need to force a software deployment or a task sequence on an Asset which is limited by a Maintenance/Service Window. It would be really useful to be able to right-click on an asset which is showing as "waiting for a service window" and tell it to accept whatever task is currently pending.

  14. Provide more detail during Pre-Staged Media Creation Progress

When generating Pre-Staged Media, the progress window does not display which component it is currently processing. The progress indicator is not an "overall" progress, but instead repeatedly restarts from 0% - 100% as it processes each component.
UI could be updated so that the current object being processed is indicated on the progress window.

  15. download wim directly from SCCM console

Allow to download windows wim file from SCCM console. Windows 10 is available from online publicly using media creator tool. So adding this option will make it easier to download in one place

  16. Create a more rich driver experience

The console lacks some serious depth. If using the Auto Apply driver step, it would be nice to have a way to filter more. Showing all checked driver packages for example. Another welcomed change would be to have more filtering for the window below instead of only allowing you to type simple text that will clear out any checks for current driver packs.

In addition there should be a way to update driver packages that exist already to decrease the clutter from different driver packages. Manufacturers release updated packages and it would be nice to upload the new packages andā€¦

  17. Install required applications deployed for a PC during Task Sequence - as we can do with Updates

As in the topic : we have a step to install Required or Available updates during TS.
I would love to have such step for applications - deployed for a PC and/or for Primary User, if UDA was defined first

  18. More useful OSD failure window

It would be super helpful if the OSD failure window can actually provide useful information - rather than just the error code of the last executed step. At least also display the name of the step where the failure occurred. I often get a screenshot of the error code and that doesn't help me at all.

So often when I troubleshoot OSD, it is with computers in remote site. While walking someone over phone through launching command prompt, cd here, copy these files there, etc - it is such a tedious process.

I would love to see a way toā€¦

  19. DCR : Change "Pre-download content for Task Sequence" description in GUI

This is a DCR request to update the Desploy TS wizard. The option to "Pre-Download content for this task sequence" is by itself misleading. Technicians attempting to deploy a TS, select the option "Pre-Download content for this task sequence" believing all content will be downloaded. Leveraging this option with a Software TS or without an upgrade package, often results in unexpected errors.

By design this features currently only applies to the OS upgrade package and related drivers. The only place this is mentioned in the CONFIGMGR console is when the feature is enabled.

Updating status to Noted. Thanks for the feedback.

The Pre-download content for this task sequence applies to all statically referenced packages OS Images, SWD, Driver Packages, OS Upgrade Packages. If pre-download is set and the task sequence references 1 OS Image, 20 Driver Packages then all 21 will pre-download to cache. Only the OS Upgrade package uses the pre-download logic – match for Language and Architecture.

We’ll likely add a ‘Learn more’ FWDLink to something like https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/osd/deploy-use/create-a-task-sequence-to-upgrade-an-operating-system rather than change the string. As we add more objects to use Pre-download conditions then we can keep the link updated.

  20. Expose Chained Task Variables

The policy body found in "_SMSTSTaskSequence" contains variables specific to Chained Task Sequences that could be leveraged throughout the build. They all start with "OSDSubTasksequence"

The value of exposing this data, would allow for a more streamlined versioning process when using "Software Task Sequencs". A step could be set in the "master" task sequence to "tag" the system with a version of the software stack being loaded. Provided the version was part of the software task sequence name.
