  1. Stop boot image update process if there is a failure

If a boot image fails to update on distribution points, then the process continues to execute and the errors and indication of an unsuccessful update are only shown after the process completes. It would be nice if the process would stop when a failure occurs so the admin can troubleshoot and fix the issue. Otherwise, I'm just twiddling my thumbs with the console open while the process takes forever to complete.

  2. 'Check Readiness' step should not fail if there is a fixed disk of adequate size with no partitions

The 'Check Readiness' TS Step will fail if it cannot find a fixed disk with a partition that meets the requirements defined in the step.

Because it is looking for a partition, if there is a new disk or a disk which has been cleaned, but no partitions created, it will fail even if that disk has the required space available and would be successfully partitioned/formatted by the TS.

Maybe the step should consider fixed disks with no partitions when evaluating space required.

  3. F12 build a machine with it's assigned TS from any site code

Notebooks move around, users with pc's also moves around between site codes. It would be great to be able to F12 build a machine from a different site code with it's assigned Task Sequences without having to delete and recreate it in the correct site code.
I know it can be moved in the console but what if the machine's current windows installation is corrupt and cant be moved to a different site code to F12 build it with it's assigned Task Sequences.

  4. Task Squences for User Collections made available.

Custom Task Sequences allow for simple WMI queries for BIOS version detection. This is a nightmare when attempting to do in an Application. I am unable to deploy this task sequence to just my IT teams, and keep it hidden from regular users.

  5. Computer import information when MAC, NAME already exist

Would be great when during the Import of Computer Information we would get a hint that the MAC, GUID or Name already in SCCM exist and we get a message box with the question if we like to overwrite it. At the Moment we have the situation, when for example a MAC already exist, the Computer Object name will be overwrite but the information like SiteCode or Inventory and Collection membership are still there.

  6. Check referenced packages of child task sequence on Run Task Sequence step

The addition of run task sequence step is great. I see many useful ways of using this feature. However i would like to have the possibility to control if the parent task sequence checks the referenced packages in the child task sequence.

I would like to see a tick box on the Run Task Sequence step called something similar:
Check refences packages in child task sequnce.

It could be ticked as default.

Here is an example how this could be used:
My idea is to have country specific applications and roles that currently exist in MDT in separate task sequencesā€¦

  7. Combine SCCM Task Sequences with modern windows management tools to provide better support for using pre-installed OS

SCCM needs to have the ability to use a Pre-Installed OS (OEM, Manually Installed, Push Button Reset) as an alternative to a wipe and load. Combined with AutoPilot and/or provisioning packages, this would decrease the time required to deploy devices.

Currently, thereā€™s no way to install the SCCM client into the installed OS from WinPE nor a way to deploy a task sequence to an unmanaged (no SCCM client) device that has been Provisioned (domain joined) and is booted into Windows. Additionally, the SCCM client installer launches sub processes then exits, which makes monitoring for successful installation difficult.

  8. Download Package Content - Dynamic Option

Modify the Download Package Content step to include a dynamic option similar to the Install Package step (see attached mock up). This will allow the ability to selectively download content that is not a direct task sequence reference. When deploying the task sequence, the direct references (common to every system) can be downloaded ahead of time and then the system specific items can be downloaded selectively at TS run time. OSDDownloadContent.exe already performs a dynamic content location request, which is super useful when needing to pre-cache or download driver packages, BIOS packages and other items that are machine specific.

  9. x86 Capture Media Generation in 1706 - Critical bug

Not sure if this is just my organization but...

Capture media generated to an .iso with an x86 boot image appears to be missing TsPxe.dll in \SMS\bin\i386\, which is causing the capture Task Sequence to fail after autorun runs TSMBAutorun.exe.

    Thanks in advance,
    -Brady

  10. Windows 10 Autopilot for On-premises

Bring in the Domain join option to the Upgrade task sequence with which we can add a machine to domain and based on company license it would be Upgraded to the Enterprise license or whatever from the OEM image, by that way the organizations don't have to reimage a machine and applications deployment can be managed and we can use the feature from On-premises as well limiting to cloud won't help for the large enterprises or for a hybrid else co-Management

  11. AD OU Global Condition in Task Sequence

Would like the ability for applications with AD OU global conditions to be able to evaulate successfully in a Task Sequence. This would help in the situation where applications in a Task Sequence are updated and targeted to machine based on OU location.

  12. OSD - Have different command-line options in the "Upgrade Operating System Task Sequence" to upgrade Windows 10

Make the Upgrade Step more customizable. I'd actually like the ability to remove the /quiet tag from the setup.exe command line, and be able to add the additional commands right on that step instead of having to add additional steps to create the those variables.
Add Check boxes for additional preset parameters to enable /disable, and text box to add custom (reflect drivers, etc)

  13. PS/DP/MP task sequences

I get so many customers asking me this question: How can we deploy X amount of DPs/MPs or Primary Servers via a task sequence?

May I suggest a custom task sequence which builds out the above server and has a final step which adds the necessary roles without having to show the sccm site server install credentials?

This way the CM cmdlets can be invoked via the step - all that is needed are the parameters for the server.

if you have to do this manually for 800 DPs it would be simply adding all the server machine names toā€¦

  15. Include condition evaluation in the success or failure of a TS step

When Task Sequence condition evaluation fails for any particular step, set the TS variable SMSTSLastActionSucceeded to false. OR create a separate variable SMSTSLastEvaluationSucceeded to control this.

  16. Task Sequence Pre-Cache for all Packages inside

It would be nice to have the ability to conditionally pre-cache all packages in Upgrade TS and not only OS Upgrade step.

To describe it in more details, in current design we are able to pre-cache only OS Upgrade step to computers based on conditions. This is not enough for companies with 20+ languages as best approach is to create en-us core image and then apply MUI on top of that. Doing this will cause system to report as e.g. de-de so we would need to download and distribute to 150+ DPs all supported Upgrade packages instead of distributing onlyā€¦

Updating status to completed – see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/understand/find-help#send-a-suggestion for an explanation of each value.

Our 1906 release is now available and includes pre-cache support for OS Images, Driver Packages & Packages in addition to OS Upgrade Packages.

  17. Make Windows 10 Setup Compatibility Scan Language Neutral

It would be nice if a checkbox "Perform Windows Setup Compatibility scan withnout starting upgrade" inside "Upgrade Operating System" step in SCCM Upgrade Task Sequence would be language neutral.

What I mean by this is that we would like to run this scan prior to the Upgrade itself but to be able to do that currently we have to switch the running OS to en-US (the same language as the Upgrade iso), then run the scan and in case an error is found, we need to switch back to original language again and reboot the computer. This is not aā€¦

  19. Conditional 'continue on error' in task sequence

With a bare metal build if something fails I don't care, I can kick off the TS again.
But in some situations (eg. when using USMT) if a build fails because one app didn't install it can be very difficult to recover from. In these situations I would like to continue on error to minimize any issues, so being able to 'conditionally' continue on error would be very nice indeed.

  20. Offline staging of MDT

The option Offline Staging of MDT works great to update image with latest patches even office is possible. Please include this option so we can get rid of MDT.
