  1. add "not like" in the task sequence condition, variable

Add "not like" in the task sequence condition, variable. If we have like, wouldn't it be reasonable to have not like as well? I have some scenarios that are easily resolved with a "not like" condition for a task sequence variable, but more complex with just "like"

  2. Add dependencies to feature OS upgrade

When deploying a OS feature upgrade such as Windows 10 1803, it would be great if we can add dependencies such as required drivers or applications before the feature upgrade takes place.....just like it does for application deployments.

  3. Task Sequence Variable to DISABLE all Status Messages

We need a variable to disable sending status messages completely.
    Different than "SMSTSDisableStatusRetry".

    Perhaps: "SMSTSDisableStatusMessages"

Very similar to another request that has been closed, but need to be able to have a TS run an never even try to send a status message.
    Other UV: https://configurationmanager.uservoice.com/forums/300492-ideas/suggestions/17846260-add-osd-variable-to-not-send-status-messages

  4. _SMSTSMP Variable Needs to be Dynamically Update

When pushing out mandatory Windows 10 Servicing to remote users.
If The task sequences is run fro a PC that is vpn connected into the corporate network then the _SMSTSMP variable will be set to an intranet MP. Then the Windows 10 Servicing task sequence reboots multiple times which then the computer is now on the internet and should talk to the IBCM Management Point, but the task sequence keeps trying to send status to the intranet MP as it does not change when the client switches from intranet to Internet.

  5. Natively Add install windows feature to SCCM Task sequence options

MDT has the ability to "Install Windows Feature" with an MDT task sequence and I can also do this if I integrate MDT with SCCM. However SCCM should be able to do this natively without MDT. Better yet make it so that SCCM can accept powershell DSC configurations to run during the build process. This would be a huge win for provisioning on prem servers.

  6. Dynamically calculate hash before downloading content during OSD

If content in an OSD task sequence is updated while it's running, the updated content will fail due to a hash validation mismatch error.

To help prevent this from happening, it would be great if the task sequence engine could dynamically calculate the content hash on the latest version prior to each download.

  7. Make some fail codes less cryptic when task sequences fail

A good example is when a task sequence fails due to a duplicate UUID / Nachine Name. Have the fail message explain the failure & list the actual duplicate UUID / Machine Name displayed.

  8. Task Sequence Detection Method

It would be very useful to be able to control if a Task Sequence has been "Installed" or not by adding a custom detection method like we have in the AppModel.

This is valid in scenarios where we do a bare metal required rollout and in in-place-upgrade scenarios. Combined with having different versions of a task sequence being deployed.

  9. Fix Application Supercedence in Task Sequence during OSD

Application A and Application B. Application B supersedes Application A. The content is removed off the DPs for Application A.. A task sequence (non-OSD TS) deployment of Application B fails with "The software could not be found on any servers at this time." After reading the logs, it is looking for Application A. BUT a regular application deployment Application B, it works fine, so this issue is ONLY occurring in TS.

  10. Task Sequence (Windows 10 1903) fails to install application with error "NotifyProgress received: 16 (Application failed to evaluate )"

Existing task sequence which was previously used to deploy Windows 10 version 1809,1803 & 1709, is not failing with version 1903.

Task Sequence fails while trying to install applications, none of the application gets installed. We are getting error "NotifyProgress received: 16 (Application failed to evaluate )".

If I change the install.wim from 1903 to 1809 or any previous version, it works absolutely fine.

Seems like bug with version 1903 only.

  11. Query Based Branching Task Sequences

Would be useful if you could create branching task sequences. Take for example you have a different build for a physical and virtual machines, however you have a common WIM base and a number of general tasks applicable to both. Rather than creating duplicate different steps for each type based on queries why not allow complete branching of a task sequences into two distinct paths. While this can be achieved with Child Sequences to some extent, being able to visualize the full build flow without having to create multiple nested task sequences is good from a simplicity post of view.ā€¦

  12. Tasks sequence - 'Install applications' task with multiple apps should not report 'Succeeded' state message between apps

A device on which a tasks sequence is running should report as "Running" as long as the tasks sequence has not reached its end, and report accordingly under the deployment summary tab and SSRS reports.

    Consider this scenario:
    1. Create a tasks sequence
    2. Add an 'Install Application' task, and chain a couple of applications in this task.
    3. Add another different task following it -- i.e. a 'Restart computer' task.
    4. Deploy this tasks sequence on a device.
    5. In the ConfigMgr console, go to Monitoring > Deployment, and display the TS deployment
    6. Frequently refresh this deployment summaryā€¦

  13. OSD Task Sequence Maintenance Window and Client Override or ignore

Allow the ability to override maintenance windows and client settings during an initial OSD task sequence setup of a client device. This would allow the initial OSD, Drivers, applications and software updates to complete in an expected timeframe. Currently additional scripting and checks are required to accomplish "a ready to deliver device" to a client, and in most cases, additional updates are still pending after a device is delivered.

  14. Support using OSDDownloadContent.exe outside of Download Package Content TS step

A number of organizations are using OSDDownloadContent.exe outside of Download Package Content TS Step to download dynamic driver content (made popular by http://www.scconfigmgr.com/modern-driver-management/). In this scenario, driver package version information is missing in the TS environment during TS runtime (i.e. SMSTSSourceVersion%PackageID% TS variables are not set). When an Alternate Content Provider is called using SMSTSDownloadProgram to download content, the ACP is unable to determine which version of the package needs to be downloaded and can result in download failure or downloading the incorrect version of a driver.

Ideally, OSDDownloadContent.exe would be able to retrieve the current version and updateā€¦

  15. ADK Version Numbers in filename

My idea is for Microsoft to put the version numbers in the file name of the ADK Installers. It gets confusing with all named the same: adksetup.exe

  16. It would be nice to see the total space needed for a task sequence before it is created

It would be nice to see the total space required for a standalone task sequence media creation before the process starts. It doesn't help to try and create media when I don't know if it will fail due to the size of the flash drive

  17. Offline servicing : install servicing stack update first

When scheduling offline updates to OS images, make sure SCCM install the Servicing Stack Update before the Cumulative Update (or allow the users to determine which update has to be installed first).

For example, I had an issue when trying to install SSU KB4498947 and CU KB4494440. SCCM tried to apply the CU before its prerequisite SSU, resulting in the CU being absent from the image.

And the worst thing is that I cannot create another schedule for this CU as it is now missing from the list of available updates. As if SCCM permanently consider this CU as nonā€¦

  18. Add "Referenced by Task Sequence" item to Boot Image Summary or Details tab

    The problem:
When multiple admins are working on OSD Task Sequences, it is not obvious to see if a boot image is being called by a TS without going into the Properties of every single TS. This is exacerbated by WIMs created outside of SCCM, as is the case with MDT Boot images.

    Suggestion:
Add "Referenced by Task Sequence" item to Boot Image Summary or Details tab.

  19. Ability to see/change available task sequences list order

A computer may be member of several collections. When we deploy multiple task sequences to different collections, available task sequences list changes when computer is booting from PXE. So, we need to check the list order, after deploying new task sequence. Also, first task sequence is selected automatically and users are inclined to select the first one.
It is now alphabetic order, but we should see the list order without booting PXE and maybe we can change the order or set a task sequence to the top.

  20. Run existing Powershell Script without specifying package

"Run PowerShell Script" task sequence step needs a way to specify an existing script to run without needing to specify a package. For example, I already have working powershell scripts in my sms10000 folder. I should be able to specify %_SMSTSMDataPath%\SMS10000\somescript.ps1 as the script. That way scripts written to reference $PSScriptRoot, load powershell modules, reference relative paths, etc... will behave as expected.
