  2. Deploy multiple task sequence to a collection at once

Why is not possible to multi-select task sequences and deploy them at once to a (user or device) collection? Now you have to deploy them one by one. In test scenario's where you have a device collection with test machines and hundreds of task sequences you want to deploy to the collection, you have to do it manually one by one. Not really efficient.

  3. Handling of signed powershell scripts in OSD via Group Policy

Applications that utilize powershell as a detection method require that script to be signed with a code signing certificate. Code signing certificates are often managed through Active Directory Group Policy.

See: Appendix 3 in the Code-Signing Best Practices guide
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/dn653556%28v=vs.85%29.aspx

The challenge is how to you implement a system during OSD where certificates are managed through GPO.

One could create a package that has certmgr and import the certificates; however, if there are any changes in the certs (revoked, expired, etc.) then there are multiple places to make that change.

In some environments the application developement group has no controlā€¦

  4. Support the imaging of machines with multiple hard drives/NICS without having to uninstall/disable/remove HD's or NIC's.

Having to unplug, remove, or disable multiple NIC's/HD's is cumbersome, especially in the server environment, not to mention techs often forget.

Can you add more details on what the issues you encounter with multiple NICs/HDs, please?

  5. settings per task sequence

MDT 2010 had the ability to run different settings in customsettings.ini for each task sequence. This feature was removed in MDT 2012. I would like to request that it is brought back. Currently, the only method to have the functionality back is to edit DeployWiz_Validation.vbs, see https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/e17a1952-d1f7-41ef-8231-0d6fcc41882e/mdt-2012-settings-per-task-sequence?forum=mdt

  6. RBA During Unknow OSD

With unknown computer deployments, there should be an authentication step that allows the deployment technician to authenticate to SCCM so he\she will only see the deployed task sequences to the unknown computer collection that are ONLY scoped to them instead of seeing all task sequences deployed to the unknown computer collection.

    Refreshing status on this item.
See https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/configmgr/core/understand/find-help#send-a-suggestion for an explanation of each value.

Would using SMSTSPreferredAdvertID solve this for you?
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/configmgr/osd/understand/task-sequence-variables#SMSTSPreferredAdvertID

That way each technician would only know the task sequence deployment IDs assigned to them. They’d enter the ID to start the task sequence, simple script example
    dim env_set
    set env = CreateObject(“Microsoft.SMS.TSEnvironment”)

AdvID = inputbox(“Preferred Deployment ID” ,“Please enter the deployment ID:”,"",400,0)

    env(“SMSTSPreferredAdvertID”) = AdvID

    env_set = "Preferred Deployment set to: " & env(“SMSTSPreferredAdvertID”)

    ’MsgBox( env_set, vbOKOnly, “Result”)
    MsgBox( env_set)

with that added as a Prestart command in the Boot image properties – use as a batch file.

  7. Support MUI for the "Restart Computer" TaskSequence action description visible to the user

Especially in MUI environments explaining why a reboot is required can lead to confusion on the users side. Supplying a short description is nice already, but it would be even cooler if it was configurable based on the users display language.

  8. Allow Install application and install swupdates steps to run offline

The 2 steps in OSD that cause the majority of issues are Install software updates, and Install application, the latter could have been predicted by the experiences of install software updates in CM07.

I am convinced that the reason these two are responsible for so many hickups are largely related by their requirement to have management point interaction when calling these steps. All other steps in a tasksequence have collected, or can collect al their info upfront. The install application and swupdate steps are exceptions to this. If they could collect all their necessary details upfront, that would make forā€¦

  9. Provide a framework for vendors to provide driver packages directly into SCCM

It would be nice to have a driver package catalogue, which is populated with packages built by vendors for their hardware. Vendors are best placed to release drivers for their hardware so why not leverage this knowledge and integrate it fully in SCCM?

Option to Automatically update Offline Windows Image on schedule.

So that My Custom Windows 7 with preinstalled software will alway have all windows updates already in the image when its deployed.

An option in SCCM to pick few images that SCCM would automatically update on set time. Eg after patch tuesday. s

We took a look at this – one potential drawback is the there’s no user interaction meaning the updates applied would be what’s presented in the Offline Servicing view. That’s the default view – filtered for that architecture.

    Would that selection be acceptable?

  12. run not only applications on a tasksequence, seperate deploymenttypes would be better

Not only applications or packages/programs run in a TS would be nice to select a special deploymenttype to run. In packages with programs is it possible why not with applications and his deploymenttype.

  13. Ability to disable/control the check for references at startup of a task sequence

A task sequence checks its referenced packages at startup and fails if not all packages are available. With an international hierarchy and some (very big) appplication packages that only need to be deployed in certain countries we don't have (don't want to) put all packages onto all distribution points whether they are required or not. We use the same task sequence for all countries with dynamic variables and some conditions. By condition it is decided which application will be installed at a certain location. The workaround we implemented today is to have one centralized DP with all packages so computersā€¦

  14. OSD - Domain Recovery

This was a great feature in MDT. If domain join fails initially, this can be used to launch a GUI informing the user or technician that the domain join failed and instructions on how to remediate this before deployment continues.

  15. OSD during WinPE and the need of disk for storage

Since bitlocker, UEFI with GPT and mSATA came in the picture to mention some disk-related stuff, I have struggle with OSD issues where the TS fails due to the lack of a non encrypted, partitioned regular disk to store content during the initial steps of a TS in WinPE
Here is an example, I get an OEM-installed laptop with SecureBoot and UEFI activated. To be able to install Windows 7 on this laptop I have to reconfigure the BIOS and disable SecureBoot and UEFI, fair enough. But to get the OSD TS to work I have to manually clean theā€¦

The Task Sequence can be set to use ‘Run from Net’ – OS Image, Client Package etc. have to be set to use Package Share – part of the properties, visible on the ‘Data Access’ tab. Would that option help?

  16. Multicast on a selective basis

I have task sequences for on-demand imaging of one machine via PXE and also for automatically imaging an entire lab of computers. Ideally, the automatic TS would acquire the image via multicast from the site DP but one-off OSD runs on a single machine would still use unicast. It would be very nice to see this option available without having to load the image twice on the DP and enable one for multicast.

One potential option here is to use the Multicast properties to require a minimum session size before starting e.g. 2. If that size is not met then the download will fallback to Unicast/HTTP. These settings are present in the ‘Enabled Scheduled Multicast’ UI. The session size option would also require a wait of minimum 1 minute

  17. SCCM Task Sequence Lock

Enable the ability to Lock a Task Sequence once it has been released, similar to the effect when a TS is locked out to a user when editing it. In a large environment with multiple SCCM admins using OSD is you be a nice feature to prevent accidental editing of production Task Sequences.

  19. OSD - MDT like single instance drivers

SCCM started in the right direction with driver categories. This implementation has limited uses however.

I would like to see a driver management setup more like what is available in MDT. Specifically on deployment media.

  20. Result screen for Collection & Machine variables

At most of my customers, we are working with collection- or machine variables to be flexible during OS deployment with languages, application installations or something else.
In some cases, there are so much collections with different variables, that it is very hard to find where a variable is coming from.
Perhaps, you can use a dialog in context menu of a device like 'client settings' - 'Resultant Client Settings'.
In this dialog, collect every variable with it's source like
    Variable 1 - Collection x
    Variable 33 - Collection Z
    Variable 232- Machine Variable
