  1. Recurring deployment scheduling

We would like to see a way to create a custom, recurring schedule for task sequences deployed to a collection. Currently we can set a start and end time for the deployment. We deploy large packages through our task sequences, and we have a lot of people imaging computers. If we could limit the deployment to only be available after-hours and on the weekends, this would prevent someone, maybe a new person, from deciding to image multiple labs at one time during business hours.

  2. Merge Default App Associations

Running the command "Dism /Online /Import-DefaultAppAssociations:\\Server\Share\AppAssoc.xml" overwrites all App Associations. This can result in Windows 10 automatically fixing broken extensions, confusing the both Admin and User.

    Please add a "Merge" switch.

This would be very helpful for Enterprises who want to manage default applications, extensions, or protocol during OSD.

Otherwise, the OSD admin must manage all default applications, extensions, and protocols separately, or create a custom dynamic solution.

  3. In OS OSD launches to overide existing deployments

In OS OSD launches to overide existing deployments - If you are blasting aware an OS why do you need to wait for a patching and application installs? This would speed up OSD testing.

  4. Make USMT more streamlined

I would love to see a more streamlined USMT process. Currently it's a multiple step process, which requires you to create the associations, and then target the source and destination PC's via task sequence. Ideally all you would need to do is setup the association, and the migration would then kick off without the need for a Capture and Restore task sequence.

  5. Whenever the Task Sequence fails, give a DIRECT way to EASILY show and/or save the smsts log WHEREVER it is buried.

Because it occurs quite often since there are so many ways to make a TS fail, and the guy in front of the computer may be on the other side of the planet, not knowing what a CLI is...

  6. WMI Query Builder for Task Sequence Options

In the Task Sequence/Options window, I can add a condition for a particular step by adding an "if" criterion that matches a WMI query, similar to building a device collection. This way, particular steps in a task sequence would only execute if a device happened to be in the selected AD OU or another, for example.

But in the WMI Query builter for device collections includes a click-here type of builder, whereas the query window in the task sequence just has a blank text box.

While I could either write the query by hand (and hope it's correct) to seeā€¦

  7. Add native error handling section to task sequences.

Within a task sequence it would be great if we had better native error handling. Right now it's possible to get log files via powershell scripts and tricking task sequences with a step that looks for _SMSTSLastActionSucceeded = False, but this causes us to lose accurate error descriptions if we also want to setup a status filter rule.

Instead having native error handling that would simply copy the computers last smsts.log to a share would be fantastic that way status filter rules still work.

  8. Allow multiple lines in Run Command Line for Task Sequences

Currently we can only add one command line per task. Can that be changed to add support for multiple command lines and only return the error code on the resulting script? This would allow for much faster development and trouble-shooting in task sequences.

  9. WinPE wizard upscaling or hard-coded resolution settings for HiRes displays.

It would be great to be able to customize the screen resolution in WinPE from within the boot image properties, especially on 4k devices where the native resolution makes it difficult to see task sequence steps/failures/logs in WinPE. I've read about an unattend.xml file that you can put in the WIM file but it'd be nice to have this a native feature of ConfigMgr.

  10. unknown computers distribution point

make a separate Unknown Computers Collection for each Distribution Point, in that way you could make a task sequence available to computers in specific boundaries.

  11. Be able to Set autologon during TS for Kiosk PCs

    Hello,

It would be wonderful if we could set Autologon during task sequence since we can create really nice provisinog package from ADK and use DISM during WinPe to set assigned access to a certain account and app.

It would be awesome if we could somehow stop SCCM to remove autologon when TS is completed so we dont have to create workarounds after the TS is completed.

  12. I would like OSD standalone media that allows access to the SMP on the network. I guess this would be more of a hybrid media.

I basically want to be able to create standalone OSD media that allows me to backup/restore users files and settings to our State Migration Point. The standalone media now only allows for the hard link option when using USMT. If there was a way possible to maybe create some kind of USMT wizard in the task sequence on the standalone media that would allow me to move the users files and settings to a USB drive or SMP that would be really useful.

  13. Re-think task sequence policy download in OS

Currently deployed task sequences create a lot of policy download and slow down the initialisation of a workstation. If they worked like in bootable media, or another way - I don't know if say downloading the TS policies as a zip would help?

  15. DCR: Provide Application content identifiers in the task sequence environment.

This will allow Alternate Content Providers to perform pre-flight content availability checks and download content not cached locally before the content is required. At the moment. smsappinstall.exe only obtains the content identifier when executed using the ScopeId_...

  16. Allow "Hide collections with a member count greater than..." to apply to non OSD task sequences marked as high impact

Currently only OSD Task Sequences will cause deployment verification to filter large collections.

Add support for non OSD collections too

  17. Move the duplicate hardware id's option to a more appropriate location

Hierarchy settings does not seem to be the most appropriate location for this, engineers in the field would be adding dongle MAC addresses quite often.

  18. Allow 32-bit applications to run within WinPE x64. All new Windows 10 computers ship with UEFI but to flash BIOS

Allow 32-bit applications to run within WinPE x64. All new Windows 10 computers ship with UEFI. We need to flash the system BIOS to the latest version before applying the OS but all the hardware vendors (Dell, Lenovo, etc.) only provide 32-bit BIOS upgrade programs. The 32-bit limitation also causes problems when upgrading a machine from TPM 1.2 to 2.0.

Surely WinPE 10 x64 or later will provide 32-bit application support.

  19. Merged AD discovered object and Manual machine entry cannot boot

When there is Device object created by Group discovery method in SCCM and we create new Manual machine entry object. It can happen (when device was online during Group discovery process), that objects are merged. In that time Group discovery record's ID wins, so device cannot boot from PXE (Resource IDs are excluded - that make sense). To by pass that we have to delete all objects and recreate manual machine entry object again.

Can Microsoft change the logic, that Manual machine entry Resource ID wins, please?

  20. Problem with verifying connection in Join Domain step

I'm seeing an issue with verifying the account used for joining the domain in a task sequence. Despite choosing a domain and OU, when I click verify it is defaulting to Users > Contoso
