  1. Ability to easily link a script for SCCM controller reboots.

In a large enterprise environment its sometimes important to shutdown several services on the local and remote servers in a particular order. It would be nice to be able to easily manage startup/shutdown scripts from a central area that you could attach at the single asset level. Ie a tab that has these items at the single asset

  2. recurring schedule

    anchored recurring schedule

I want to propose a feature for SCCM CB that would be easy to implement and I think would be of great use to everybody. I call it anchored recurring schedule.

So for example we can say 2nd Tuesday of the month plus a number of days. This way we can schedule deployments based on patch Tuesdays, we always deploy at a fixed offset from patch Tuesday

  3. Increase default Max run time for Cumulative updates

Default max runtime always set to 5 mins for Cumulative update, this should be increased to 30 like it is for Service Packs

  4. be able to add an update to an "Exempt" Software update group so that it won't be able by accident.

So that and update won't be deployed by accident (multi admin environment). the update is placed in a Software group which is exempted fully and won't be able to get deployed until removed.

  5. s int32 instead string.

In this way we could compare built compilation versiĆ³n better. It's useful this comparation for build dynamics collections throught queries which gathers device with lower built compilation than current ones.

  7. Allow periods in SUG Names

This is rather annoying when you are trying to deploy updates that have a period in their name or version number

Can this be looked at for future builds so we can create SUGs with names like "SUG - .NET Framework 4.6.1" and not "SUG - DOTNET Framework 4-6-1"?

    :)

  9. Integrate Microsoft Custom Support program into SCCM.

The current process requires logging into a separate website; downloading the required updates, Scan cab files and/or .xml files running the WSUS Import tool or wsusutil.exe. Then you need to approve the updates in WSUS and then maybe, if nothing went wrong somewhere must run a sync with SCCM in order to make the updates available through Software Updates in SCCM.

  11. retry installation of failed software updates

When installing updates via software centre, some updates may fail initially, once other updates have completed installation, software centre doesn't retry these updates but prompts for the reboot. Once the user reboots updates may try installation again which then means another reboot for the user. When initiating the install again manually it usually results in the failed updates installing correctly.

Software Cenre should retry the 'failed' updates at least once - before offering a reboot to the user as in most cases this should result in all updates being applied and the user only needing to reboot once.

    Also betterā€¦

  14. Download Updates from Microsoft Update Server directly to Secondary Site administrated by Primary Site

A download from Microsoft Update Server directly to the Secondary Site Server which is located in an other Country as the Primary Site Server, could be faster than using the slow bandwidth of VPN tunnel between the two Locations.

  15. Install Behaviour feature for Software Updates

Applications have the Install Behaviour tab so that any applications which need to be stopped before the application updates can do so, in order to ensure a smoother installation.

In some cases for Software Updates, we've seen the SUP procedure break some applications because the services that those applications run were still running whilst an update installed.

We would like the option for an Install Behaviour for Software Updates, so that when an update is scheduled a user would receive a prompt to ensure that the applications are closed before performing the install, and/or for it to be automatically closedā€¦

  16. A way to clean up duplicate updates that may be in more then one Deployment Package

I find updates duplicated into multi packages, and downloaded in each, making the space used 2x+ more then needed.

  17. Write the changes in a KB article regarding Windows Update Agent!

I think the title says it all:
During the last months 5 (!) WUA updates came down, and AFAIK at NONE of the KBs it was written what had been changed!
So at least for the customer one cannot react porperly in case of issues.

  18. A security patch showing how many devices need it should also have a hyperlink to the names of the devices needing it.

When a security patch is selected, it shows how many devices are in need of it. Clicking on the 'Required' count should show the device names. It would be helpful to see the information right away than running a report to find the same.

  19. sccm/wsus

I feel that sccm/wsus requires a lot of improvements:

1 - software update detections should be improve to analyze and detect missing/required updates
2- software updates installation should be install in sequence not on which deployment reaches first. should be a way to modified the install base on date and time.
3- a better scheduling for the deployment that will allow the updates to be install during a flexible time and another for the downloading of the patches
4- bring back the use of restart and update, or shutdown and update, this were very useful

    I still feel that theā€¦

  20. Add ESU update classification

Can you please add an update classification called "ESU" or something like that so that we can filter our ADRs to make updates work properly with ESU? (It seems that if we get a single update that is not allowed for ESU added to our software update group it will make all updates not available.
