  1. Add the new "Release Preview" ring to the Windows 10 Servicing feature of ConfigMgr Current Branch.

Microsoft has added a new release ring for Windows 10 called "Release Preview" which is closer to Current Branch than the Insider Previews (Fast/Slow). This seems like a great candidate for organizations to use with their existing production pilot programs so they can test against their key use cases of technology before wider deployment. Using this ring for testing would buy more time if issues are found before the end of a branch's servicing/support life cycle. It can also help organizations plan for new features better ahead of time.

  2. Force clients to download updates from Microsoft update site.

With more and more people working from home these days, having the ability to specify in a Software Update Group deployment to force download from MS update site would be terrific. I'd still like those clients to download content for applications from the internal DP over VPN, but downloading monthly updates would be much quicker if you could force them to use internet instead of VPN.

  3. Filter Options for Windows Servicing Plans

Build a custom additional filters within the Servicing Plans to only download and depoly specific Editions and/or languages.
Most companies will only have one Edition of Windows deployed. And maybe similar with the language.

  4. Offline Servicing and Expired updates

Hide/filter expired updates in Offline Servicing window.

  5. Add ADR Timeframe of "Updates older than X days"

Today, we can deploy updates using an ADR based on a number of timeframes, but most will deploy updates that came out within the last period of time.

For instance, we can deploy updates that came out within the last month, but there is no 'Date Released' value for updates older than X or updates that came out within the last three weeks, for instance.

A number of my customers want to wait and let the community test updates before deploying them, and we currently have to be a bit clever with our timelines to make this work.

  6. Add filter bar to the Updates node of Windows 10 Servicing

In ConfigMgr 1511, the "All Windows 10 Updates" node has no filter bar as we have for Software Updates. There are lots of elements listed and the number will increase with the future Windows 10 Builds.
It could be very helpful to get a filter bar which allows to filter on languages, build, SKU, etc.

  7. Inbuilt Mechanism To Uninstall Patch via SCCM

    Hello,

Not sure why SCCM doesnt have an inbuilt mechanism to uninstall a patch from the SCCM console. We do have this feature to remove (Disapprove) a patch in WSUS which is a freeware.

It is really a beneficial feature to be included as this comes up into use very frequently.

    Many Thanks

  8. extended criteria for ADR's and more than one product when doing manual searches

I would love to have more criteria options for ADRs. It would be nice to be able to pick from a date range. Or have a yes or no option to is it deployed as well as all the other options when you do a manual search. Also when you do a manual search, it would be nice to be able to select more than one product at a time.

  9. Configure multiple deployments in One Software Update Group

    Hi,

After the successful implementation of the following, https://configurationmanager.uservoice.com/forums/300492-ideas/suggestions/8386953-configure-multiple-deployments-in-an-automatic-dep, which is really nice. How about the possibility to extend this and instead of creating several SUGs with different deployments create one SUG with multiple deployments?

  10. Software Update Management - Add Approved for Removal Option

WSUS offers the option to remove software updates by simply adding the "approved for removal" flag to an update.
Currently in SCCM the uninstallation of an update can only be realised in a very complicated manner (TS or software application).

We need the "approved for removal" option via the config manager console.

  11. Take a look at Ninte and make sccm a bit more like that.

Ninte.com manages app updates in a very elegant way that I think sccm could implement for patches. What i am most intrigued is that I can single out a machine and check, or single out an update and check from the same console.

  12. Better define Software Update Supersedence Tab

The supersedence behavior is misleading and poorly documented. If you select the months to wait to expire an update and select 1, it is in effect the same result as immediately expiring any updates they are superdeded. The reality is that if you want to keep a patch for a month after it is superseded, you need this value to be 2.

    Very misleading...

  13. "Cluster Aware" Patching Variables

With the new Cluster Aware patching in TP3, I would like to see dynamic variables that you can call into your pre and post scripts that would tell you which machines are currently getting patched, and which machines are currently up. This would allow admins to write a more simplistic script where it queries a variable instead of having to build a script that test connections and make sure its not installing software updates. Example scenario would be patching Hyper-V clusters, where you need to keep all VM's up and running. We could query the variable, to move the VMsā€¦

  14. Graphs on Software Update Compliancy report

Please could you add graphs to more reports. Specifically Compliance 1 - Overall compliance, so when you run the report a pie chart is created. Thanks

  15. Force install of software updates before deadline

Currently we have an available time and a deadline time, it would be great if we could also have a time where all the updates that could be downloaded to a client and then install all of the ones that it can until a reboot is needed, and then still wait until the deadline fore that reboot.

we give our users 2 weeks t o download and install, but even after communicating with them that installing will no force the reboot until the 2 weeks are up, the majority still insist on not installing until the deadline, and of courseā€¦

  16. Write the changes in a KB article regarding Windows Update Agent!

I think the title says it all:
During the last months 5 (!) WUA updates came down, and AFAIK at NONE of the KBs it was written what had been changed!
So at least for the customer one cannot react porperly in case of issues.

  17. software update filter

when on the software update node and you need to perform filter by product, it should only list products that already being sync and/or products that you have selected to sync, not all products

  18. Treat Deployment Scheduling Software available time like a Collection maintenance window

The Deployment Scheduling "Software available time" is a one-time setting. Any newly imaged workstations built after that time will receive software update packages at any time during the business day. Unlike Collection maintenance windows, which only apply to the execution time for the software packages, there is no way (that I know of) currently to control the time of the download of the packages.

    Either/or
    1) Provide a daily "Software available time" start time
    2) Tie the software available time to a Collection's maintenance window
    3) Define a maintenance window for "Software available for downloading".

  19. software update allow download via windows update only after x number of hours

today if you select the option to allow the client to download the content from a DP, it can go to Microsoft. This is great, but I would like to have an option to allow this to happen only after x number of hours or maybe x number of retries, allowing the DP to get the content (in case of a admin forgot to add this to the DP, maybe slow link and need to copy content manually)

  20. Add support for "Hotfix" Update classification

SCCM should be able to support all updates made available in the MS catalog.
The MS Update Catalog lists hotfixes which makes WSUS more useful than SCCM. If WSUS can rollout a hotfix why can't SCCM?
Example KB2728738 is a hotfix available in the MS Update Catalog (http://Catalog.Update.microsoft.com/v7/Site/Search.aspx?q=2728738) yet it can not be imported to SCCM as the "Hotfix" class is not available.
MS Support suggest to follow an non MS consultants blog http://ccmexec.com/2012/02/installing-multiple-windows-7-hotfixes-msu-with-sccm/
As MS continue to create more and more Hotfixes in replacement of proper updates this makes SCCM Update component less and less useful.
