  1. Only suppress restart when there is a user logged on

In a WSUS-only environment you can with the GPO "No auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations" instruct the WUA to only force a restart if no one is logged on. Being a 365/7/24-site this functionality is a the top of the wish list for CM.

  2. Fix the location of the Patchdownloader.log file

That's 'fix' as in 'nail in the same place'. Who's forever getting frustrated at remembering where patch downloads get logged to depending on which user/process initiates the downloads? Can the Patchdownloader.log file not be always logged to the site server Logs folder? Not fussed if the solution has to create multiple log file, I would just like to know that I can go the the same place directly every time and there it is!

  3. Software Updates Graph

When you are looking up a certain software update and it shows you that 53 are non complainant that you could click on the graph that shows 53 and would bring up those machines by name to go apply the updated too.

  4. retry failed software updates

This could be a config thing and if it is I'm sorry, I cannot find where.

Last month I grabbed all updates that have a required > 1 and deployed them (to test first of course). Now, several days (and more accurately, several maintenance windows) after they were deployed I have some updates that in the console show in monitoring\deployments\my deployment\error tab and on the client show as "past due - will be installed". The only way I know to fix these is to manually log into each server, possibly reboot them, then manually click on the retry button forā€¦

  5. Add Office 365 Deferred Channel selection to Automatic Deployment Rules (ADR)

Since the deferred channel consists of multiple versions it would be great to select from those deferred channels as well. Customers that roll out on this channel only usually still have some kind of waves implemented regarding the different versions available on that channel. The name of the updates can only be filtered so much (see screenshot) before it becomes impossible to filter any further. Currently they need to change the version number every time within the ADR.

  6. Automatic Deployment Rules create 'available' deployment.

I would like to create my ADR deployments for servers as available instead of required. This allows more control over server patching. Currently I create the package as required and then I have to alter it for servers that I do not want unattended installations.

  7. bulletin id

In All Software Updates Node > sort by Bulletin ID Look for MS017-010. Only Windows server 2008 updates appear. However this information is not correct. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/security/ms17-010.aspx this bulletin also applies to Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 10. Bulletin IDs should be set for all affected operating systems.

  8. sccm/wsus

I feel that sccm/wsus requires a lot of improvements:

1 - software update detections should be improve to analyze and detect missing/required updates
2- software updates installation should be install in sequence not on which deployment reaches first. should be a way to modified the install base on date and time.
3- a better scheduling for the deployment that will allow the updates to be install during a flexible time and another for the downloading of the patches
4- bring back the use of restart and update, or shutdown and update, this were very useful

    I still feel that theā€¦

  9. Software Update Group - Force a Restart as soon as the installs are done

It would be great to have an option to force a restart as soon as a software update group deployment is done installing. Currently, as an example, if you set up a deployment to start on a Tuesday with a forced deadline install on Friday and someone kicks off the install on Tuesday and isn't paying attention to the toast notifications, the machine could be in a staged state until the forced restart on Friday. Along with this, if the user isn't paying attention that the updates are done installing, the next time they restart before the deadline restart happens,ā€¦

  10. Windows 10 1703: Stop apps re-installing when deploying the feature update

The Windows apps are overwritten when 1703 feature is installed. This means we have to identify the new apps and update our scripts to remove unwanted apps (again). We were told this was being looked into and would not happen after 1607. https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/mniehaus/2016/08/23/windows-10-1607-keeping-apps-from-coming-back-when-deploying-the-feature-update/

  11. windows 10 updates branch

Please add a column and filter for "deployment ring" which shows "current branch" or " current branch for business" for the "All Windows 10 Upgrades" view in the SCCM console.

  12. dsd

It appears that if you choose to not define maintenance windows, and then deploy updates without checking the box 'when the installation deadline.... (Software Updates Installation), then deployments fail with an 0x87d00667 error. System should recognize no MW applies then ignore the checkbox state.

  13. Display progress of Office 365 Client Updates into WUAHandler log

When deploying the Office 365 Client Updates with ConfigMgr, there is no information currently written into the WUAHandler.log. All other software updates (including Office 2016) appear in the WUAHandler.log with an entry showing they are missing and once installed, an entry showing the install was finished, the exit code, and whether or not a reboot is required.
    1) 1. Update (Missing): Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB4015217) (4a4cfa3f-337e-496e-9d32-a143afcb27f4, 200)

    2) Update 1 (4a4cfa3f-337e-496e-9d32-a143afcb27f4) finished installing (0x00000000), Reboot Required? Yes

There is currently no such information displayed for any Office 365 updates. If the WUAHandler.log containsā€¦

  15. Better default Products/Languages selections when adding a new SUP

Please provide more meaningful default products/language selections when you add a new SUP.

Now there are selected by default products that are not supported by Microsoft/ConfigMgr (e.g. Windows XP, Windows Vista, Office 2002/XP).

Personally, there shouldn't be any products selected if you cannot provide the current (= at the time when ConfigMgr CB version was releeased) metadata information.

I don't know if there is ANY customer in the world, who would like to have all the languages that are selected by default. Only English should be selected as default.

  16. Next Run Windows Servicing

In the Windows Servicing Rules window, it would be helpful to see the next scheduled time the Windows Service is supposed to run. If it doesn't have one, then the cell would be blank.

  17. Offer a re-download option for updates in an existing package.

When a package is out of sync and it wants a folder that is not on your server anymore. Offer a re-download option for updates or a reset counter for the updates in the package to not downloaded so it can download the a updates again and replicate.

  18. Mainteanace Graph display computers

Show computers when you click on any of the colors in the graphs, these are found in the Windows 10 Maintenance folder. It will make it simpler to find witch computers has what version installed.

  19. Windows 10 Version Reporting

When checking the Windows 10 Servicing dashboard you get the nice pretty rings. Why is it not possibly to click a ring and show all the devices that are currently on that build you are highlighted over? It's obviously already pulling the information, so why can't you just click the ring E.g the 1511 ring and it shows you the report of machines on that build.

  20. Search for CVE numbers

Now that Microsoft has moved away from using the Bulletin IDs for some of the major updates, it will become very useful for us to be able to search the Software Updates using the CVE number (i.e. CVE-2017-0199: Microsoft Word HTA Handler Vulnerability). This will help us quickly look up patch status for those CVE identifiers.
