  1. compliance baselines should allow for compliance checks against software update groups

currently we can only really select individual updates for creating a compliance baseline, it would be great if we could add compliance baselines based on a software updates group

  2. Third party update Dell Update group by models

    1. When creating new ADR only published Dell updates are searchable to be added, any updates that are not published won’t be shown in the search results. Since publish updates means having updates downloaded first, we have to manually publish the updates we need before creating the ADR selectively, which brings up issue #2;
    2. Since in issue #1 we need to publish updates first before we can create new ADRs, can we group Dell updates by models, say all Dell updates for 9020, since we want to filter Dell updates only with the models we have, then we create…

  3. Add Software Updates to an excisting update group that has been deployed

We now have an option to deploy software updates without downloading them, and I’m a fan as this enables many great scenarios.

But if we want to add a new software update to an existing Update Group, it still requires the update to be downloaded (see screenshot).

This should be allowed, and the following error should be a warning, and still allow us to add new software updates to an update group that has been deployed.

  4. double notification from Office 365 updates

I would like to make the double notification optional when deploying Office 365 updates from SCCM. When the deployment has a deadline, SCCM client seems to be adding a reg key that is recognized by Office 365 client. Couple hours before the deadline, there is a notification coming from Office 365 C2R. If an user shutdown the machine before deadline, the user will see multiple notification from both O365 or SCCM next day. The order is kind of random. Worst case the Office 365 update reminder still shows after the update being applied by SCCM, because it passed the deadline…

  5. maintenance window and computer restart notification time preventing reboots

It seems that if you set a client notification time in Computer Restart client policy that exceeds the maintenance window on a collection then the devices in that collection will never force a reboot with a user logged on.

It would be nice if it gave the user the notification window but when the maintenance window comes around for the 2nd time and a reboot has not been done then the installation would happen at the start of that maintenance window.

  6. In ADRs I would like more options when scheduling a deployment

I would like to be able to say that I would like the deployment of the third Thursday of every month. I would also like to have deployments made as available not just required.

  7. When reviewing the status of a software update, allow opening a list of computers that still need it directly in the console

When viewing a software update in the console, it only shows the number of systems that are compliant, non-compliant, etc. next to the pie chart. Modify that so each number is a hyperlink that when clicked opens a new node under Devices showing the list of systems that are in that state for that update. Having the ability to quickly see which systems still need an update in the console would be extremely useful. Having to run a report every time is slow and cumbersome.

  8. Enhance Filter options for Automatic Deployment Rules

The Wizard for creating automatic deployment rules is nice for people who prefer easy-to-use wizards but some of us power administrators need more options. I would like to have the opportunity to define a SQL query by myself, that gives me exactly the updates I need. The rule engine translates the filters to Sql queries. Therefore I guess it would be easy for you to implement a Text field for custom queries.

  9. Create a feature like the WSUS Selfupdate feature for updating WUA

    Hi all,

with the older WSUS versions we had the selfupdate mechanism that kept the client WUA version up to date, before attempting any scan.

This has since been deprecated, because WUA started to be patched outside of the updates for WSUS itself (like KB2938066).

This has lead to a lot of enterprise environments having different and very old WUA versions among the install base.

In order to address this problem at the moment, the ConfigMgr admins have to use a method like the one below:
    https://cloudblogs.microsoft.com/enterprisemobility/2014/07/14/how-to-install-the-windows-update-agent-on-client-computers/

This is an overhead for any admins and should be easier.

    It would…

  10. Software Updates DP download from Windows Update

Add the ability for DPs (presumably at remote locations) that have better connectivity to Windows Update) to download update [binaries] directly from Windows Update instead of through the normal content distribution process.

  11. Improve feature update system - 60 minutes is too short a max run time.

Allocate more than 60 minutes max runtime to a feature update, or at least have the feature update/ConfigMgr tell the user it was aborted because their PC is too slow. At the moment software center just keeps saying 'installing'. setupact.log has a MOUPG entry noting % progress.
changing max runtime has no affect unless re-deployed.

  12. Allow for Preaction for Software Updates

With third party updates now in the Software Center we still have a problem with Bitlocker. If you install the Dell Bios update it will install, reboot and flash your BIOS and then force a Bitlocker Recovery event.

In the Software Deployment for Software Updates it would be nice to have the ability to have a check box with several actions, much like you already have for the Write-filter for embedded devices.

    Have a check box for:
    -Suspend Bitlocker on reboot
    -Stop Service : ***.EXE
    -run Pre-Script: ***.PS1
-Run Post-Script [Before or After reboot]: ***.PS1

Similar ones but not defined: …

  13. Show update size in the console

Make it possible to see update size in the console appropriate field which is always empty as of now. The only one way to see update size is by clicking out each update and checking "Content Information" tab.

  14. Firmware (UEFI/BIOS) Monitoring & Updates

Add the ability to query device model manufacturers for all drivers and specifically BIOS/UEFI versions. To then be deliverable as updates.

  15. Install Behaviour feature for Software Updates

Applications have the Install Behaviour tab so that any applications which need to be stopped before the application updates can do so, in order to ensure a smoother installation.

In some cases for Software Updates, we've seen the SUP procedure break some applications because the services that those applications run were still running whilst an update installed.

We would like the option for an Install Behaviour for Software Updates, so that when an update is scheduled a user would receive a prompt to ensure that the applications are closed before performing the install, and/or for it to be automatically closed…

  16. Windows 10 Servicing Page on

Please add Windows 10 1809 to the OS pie chart on the SCCM Windows 10 Servicing section. Right now it is appearing as "Other" even in the SCCM 1810 console which should be latest and greatest.

  17. Request full control over allow/disallow force closing of Office 365 apps when installing updates instead of force closing Office apps

In ConfigMgr 1610 Update Rollup 1 provided the change so Office 365 Updates did not force close any office applications when Office 365 patches were installed through ConfigMgr Software Center.
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/sum/deploy-use/manage-office-365-proplus-updates#restart-behavior-and-client-notifications-for-office-365-updates

With ConfigMgr 1706 we require the option to disallow force closing of office 365 applications when patches are installed through the ConfigMgr Software Center.

  20. Be able to run a program before software updates deployment

We use encryption and have a bypass script but need a way to have it run prior to updates installing or at least prior to updates causing a reboot.
