  1. Create a 'fake' update for update scan/path troubleshooting

Create a 'fake' but officially signed MS update that is applicable to all OSes and fails with a predictable error code, to help with software update scan troubleshooting issues. This will let us see if our software update scan is actually working, and if the entire path all the way down to the machine is functional or not.

  2. Admin console should show update synchronization and summarization progress (was: Simplier Troubleshooting!)

When doing a Full Software Synchronization or Summarization, it would be great to see some sort of progress bar? For example sometimes update are not appearing on the servers, then we have to click those two, but no idea the progress etc. Also make it easier to troubleshoot issues via the console without having to siff through endless log files and no idea which log files you supposed to look at.

  3. Windows 10 1703: Stop apps re-installing when deploying the feature update

The Windows apps are overwritten when 1703 feature is installed. This means we have to identify the new apps and update our scripts to remove unwanted apps (again). We were told this was being looked into and would not happen after 1607. https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/mniehaus/2016/08/23/windows-10-1607-keeping-apps-from-coming-back-when-deploying-the-feature-update/

  4. Drill down on Missing Update by Category Dashboard

Under Monitoring, Software Updates, there is a Dashboard "Missing Update by Category Dashboard"

It would be great if I could double click on the "Critical Updates" and the machines would appear in my detail screen and the "Critical Update" branch would open up in the navigator.

  6. Allow deployment expiration on SUG deployment to collections

For most deployments you have an option of specifying BOTH when a deployment is available and when a deployment will expire.

For a deployment of a software update group to a collection you do not have this option.

When you deploy updates in a phased approach in a production environment, this requires someone to manually disable a deployment so it does not deploy at a later date.

Example, let's say you have a maintenance window assigned to collection for testing, then one for production. But, you have to deploy updates to the test collection on a specific weekend after patchā€¦

  7. Clearer Title Descriptions Needed For "All Windows 10 Updates"

Since Microsoft is changing the way it names its updates (again), being able to determine whatā€™s Semi-Annual Channel (Targeted) or Semi-Annual Channel will help admins be able to deploy these updates in a Servicing Plan a little more clearly. When 1703 CB was superseded and 1703 CBB became available, they both listed with the same title under ā€œAll Windows 10 Updatesā€. This also affected the way filtering was configured, so the conditions I used on a previously existing Servicing Plan no longer previewed any feature updates.

  8. Expand Windows 10 Servicing to include (monthly) Quality updates

In the Windows 10 Servicing node, we have the ability to easily defer feature updates, using the sliders and the ability to place systems into a CB or CBB state. This same functionality should exist for quality updates. You're able to defer/pause both Quality and Feature updates this way, using Windows Update for Business and that same level of control should exist in CM as well.

  9. Cleaning up the software update point when WSUS Failes

In every Version of SCCM since SCCM xxxx I have had to at some point cleanup the mess created from unmaintaned systems.

I would like a function/option to wipe/purge all WSUS updates when I Remove the Software Update Point from my site. That would save us lots of troubleshooting.

  10. Increase default Max run time for Cumulative updates

Default max runtime always set to 5 mins for Cumulative update, this should be increased to 30 like it is for Service Packs

  11. Better updates visibility before selecting category.

We cannot see what updates we would be able to download by selecting a certain category on the software update point, without actually downloading the updates that fit that category. For example, try finding KB4013214 on WSUS. Impossible. Why is it so easy for Consumer to upgrade to 1703 but enterprise customers get shafted with WSUS not containing the updates you need?

  14. Download Updates from Microsoft Update Server directly to Secondary Site administrated by Primary Site

A download from Microsoft Update Server directly to the Secondary Site Server which is located in an other Country as the Primary Site Server, could be faster than using the slow bandwidth of VPN tunnel between the two Locations.

  15. Show the date released for software updates in Software Center

The date released should be displayed in software center against each update. this feature was previously present, but not seen anymore.
It is helpful to see the date released when troubleshooting is required.

  16. Integrate software updates "known issues" information into the SCCM.

Make a way to inform a user when he deploys software updates that has known issues. So that is is more visible for the end user to know if security updates break things :)

  17. O365 express update download support in SCCM

We have got the capability of managing O365 patch deployments from SCCM, but there is no support to download only the differential updates like it does when we do it from CDN.
Because, usually the size of O365 patches would be in GBs.

This will help many organizations to choose SCCM toolset in O365 patch management.

  18. SCCM support for Nano Server patching

Support for Nano Server 2016 would be a great help when deploying updates and reporting on compliance.

  19. Possibility of adding a new criteria for 'All softwares Updates'

Currently the 'All softwares Updates' doesn't allow us to sort windows updates required by a particular machine. The only way to find this out will be only through a report. Having a new 'criteria' which allows us to filter the updates based on a device collection or a particular computer will be very helpful.

  20. Send message personalizade in Updates

In my company when sending updates we want to send personalized messages, that they are sending patches and it is from the company that we must restart. Example: The administration of _____ we have applied patches to restart your computer. Atte enterprise
