  1. ConfigMgr SUM installs should update the date of last install in Windows Update control panel applet

When you only use ConfigMgr to install updates, the date on the Windows Update control panel applet often reflects something that is really inaccurate as ConfigMgr doesn't update it. This often leads to a very negative reaction of "I thought those darn ConfigMgr admins were updating our workstations and servers!?!" And then we have to explain that we are, but that date doesn't get changed.

Can we please just ensure that when Software Update Management installs any updates, the Windows Update control panel applet gets set to the current date?

I stole the screenshots from this thread: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/b33dd5b2-64b3-476d-8fc5-232cbafced47/sccm-updates-are-installed-but-windows-update-status-wrong?forum=ConfigMgrCompliance

  2. When SCCM patches a system, the "Updates were installed" field in Control Panel/Windows Update is not updated.

When SCCM patches a system, the "Updates were installed" field in Control Panel/Windows Update is not updated. It would be helpful if this date/time is updated. We have had some end users go to us and say they have not been patched recently.

  3. Randomize Maintenance Window Start Time

Currently, randomization only applies to deadlines and does not take maintenance windows into account. If you have a heavily virtualized environment with shared storage and want to use maintenance windows there is no good way to prevent a resource storm at the start of the maintenance windows. The only way is to break up the devices into several collections with staggered maintenance windows. This is cumbersome to maintain at a level that would provide the desired granularity.

Ideally there would be an option to randomize the maintenance window start time. Bonus points to making that randomization configurable.

  4. Force clients to download updates from Microsoft update site.

With more and more people working from home these days, having the ability to specify in a Software Update Group deployment to force download from MS update site would be terrific. I'd still like those clients to download content for applications from the internal DP over VPN, but downloading monthly updates would be much quicker if you could force them to use internet instead of VPN.

  5. Software Update Groups - Speed up 'Edit membership'

'Edit membership' is unuseable if you've got many update groups. Please add simple tools like 'Add update(s) to existing group(s)', 'Remove update(s) from group(s)' and 'Remove Update(s) from this group' (if you're in context of an update group).
The sub dialogues of this aditional functions shouldn't provide the information in which update group the patches are listed because the query runs too long. Just let us choose the groups form a simple search list. A filter to minimize the list of results would also be fine.

  6. Force Software Updates to be installed from console

Right-click the device in console and force all available software updates to be installed immediately, regardless of deadlines and maintenance windows.

  7. Software Updates Graph

When you are looking up a certain software update and it shows you that 53 are non complainant that you could click on the graph that shows 53 and would bring up those machines by name to go apply the updated too.

  8. Office 365 ProPlus Build Rollback

Love the integration with Office 365. Can we add the ability to rollback to a previous build and disable the automatic update? The use case here is, if a build is tested and deployed because no issues were detected and if an issue is discovered, there is no easy way to rollback to the previous build. Having such ability would empower administrators to quickly react.

  9. Deploy Windows 10 language pack & FOD using software update

It would be very convenient if we could deploy language packs and FOD from software updates as these packages change with new windows builds and sometimes new revisions.
Current options require a lot of time and testing.
If we could just add language packs and FOD to a software group and target the deployment this will make the process much faster and with new windows build it will require minimal amount of time to enable the updated LP files/updates

Currently this does not work as the updates are detected as not required on the machines and it would be goodā€¦

  10. Implement function to remove Windows Updates from clients with Software Update Point

With a standalone WSUS-Server deployed Windows Updates can be uninstalled/removed from clients. With SCCM SUP this is not possible,
Implement a function to remove installed Windows Updates from clients.

  11. Improve the ADR engine

    Improve the ADR engine

    • Automate the cleanup of the previous software update groups created by the rules, i.e. before creating a new SUG it will check for older SUG members and based on criteria automatically manage updates that are member of a specific SUG. If updates are published or revised in 2016 then move the updates to our 2016 SUG, or previous month etc. Or, if they are superseeded or expired then remove the updates from the SUG...

    • Allow to name the deployment create by the ADR, this will be useful for reporting purpose if you have more than oneā€¦

  12. Add MSP as an Application type/detect presence of application type

I would love to be able to push MSP's as an "application" but it only detects MSI's when going through the setup. It would be awesome to be able to use MSP's in the same manner as MSI's in the UI (detect presence of the MSP, etc.).

  13. Add More User Control Over Windows 10 Branch Upgrades

Currently Windows 10 branch upgrades act similarly to Windows updates. We would like to have more control to release them not unlike the Windows 10 upgrade released by Microsoft where there is a deadline but say, daily notices that users should upgrade.

It would also be handy to have a message talking about the upgrade taking longer than normal with some kind of time given say 30-45 minutes or more accurate times based of telemetry if it's available.

As our fleet moves to Windows 10 we foresee this being more and more an issue.

  14. Create a copy/duplicate of an ADR

It would be useful to be able to create a duplicate or copy of an ADR in the same way we can with a task sequence or collection. I understand the concept of creating templates but in the circumstance where you don't create a template (for whatever reason) you have to step through each option again and do a manual comparison with an existing ADR.
Even if it fired up the wizard with pre-made selections that would be useful.

  15. Complex scheduling: Enable patch deployments to servers based on SDLC (Dev / QA / Prod / DR)

Based on Patch Tuesday, allow application / business owners to select appropriate down time for the server as well as a sequenced order (e.g., Development servers during the first week after Patch Tuesday, QA on the second week after Patch Tuesday, Production servers on the third week after Patch Tuesday, et cetera). This allows the business owners to "own their own destiny" and get systems administrators out of the business of coordinating patching maintenance windows. In addition, the ability to insert "change freezes" that force the schedule to increment all downstream targets out by an additional week to compensate forā€¦

  16. Show Deployment Package for Software Update

Would be great to have a tab on the properties of each Software Update that shows what Deployment Package(s) the update is included in. You can see what updates are in a Deployment Package, but not what Deployment Packages an updates are in.

  17. ADR-Search criteria (Software Updates)

when creating/editing ADR, the list of software updates (products, languages, etc) should list only the information that has been selected on the sup information.

ie. it should not list all products or languages if you only have selected english and windows 10.

  18. Bug - SCCM 2012 SP2 CU3 - Software Updates are all set to a 10 minute timeout.

All software updates are set to 10 minutes, and newer SCCM will set the new cumulative updates to 30 minutes. But SCCM 2012 leaves this setting at 10 minutes. Some updates are already 1gb+ in size, therefore are timing out when deployed.

  19. Windows 10 Servicing - Usage & Ring Tiles Should Produce List of PCs When Clicked

When you view the new Windows 10 Servicing dashboard in 1511/1602, you see these awesome graphical tiles that give you a snapshot of your Windows 10 usage and rings in your organization. However, when you hover your mouse over those two tiles and click, nothing happens other than you're presented with a percentage. It would be great if the area you select and click gives you a list of PCs broken down so you see what machines fall into what bucket. Very useful for troubleshooting too.

  20. Software update exclutions

Make it easier to exclude updates to collections like in WSUS.

We have a multi tenant solution where we have about 150 different customers in the same ConfigMgr solution.

When we have to exclude an update for any of these customers we cannot deploy the update to the top level collection but would have to deploy to all the lower level collections instead.

Please add a collection property where we can exclude updates for one particular collection or make a list like there is in WSUS where you can uncheck one or more groups.
