  1. Community Hub - Support Server Operation Systems

Community is (hopefully?) a great tool, but locking it down to only being available in Windows 10 operating systems locks out a ton of admins from its features. Many organizations require the use of Jump Servers for running the Admin Console and block RPC outside of specific routes/endpoints, so they're left out of this great resource.

  2. Remove device from collection, via device properties > collections tab

In recent builds of the Management Console, when you select a device from the device list (obviously), we have been presented with additional tabs (Summary, Check client detail, Malware Details... Collections).

The collections tab is very useful to see where the client is referenced, it would be hugely beneficial if there was an ability to 'right-click' remove the client from one of the listed collections..
It would save having to navigate away from the 'devices' section, to the 'device collections' section

  3. The same right click menu for a computer when you find it via monitoring, as when finding it in a collection.

When monitoring a deployment I want to further investigate why a certain computer has got problems. Today I have to switch to Assets and Compliance and find the computer there to handle it. It would be so much faster to just right click it in Monitoring and get the same menu as in Assets and Compliance. It would also be easy to create Collections depending on the errors.

  4. Run CMPivot queries against site status/state messages

CMPivot queries are easy to learn and very powerful. It would be very useful to run CMPivot (ie Kusto) queries against site status/state messages.

  5. Multiple computer selection for "Clear Required PXE" option

Currently you can right click on a single device, or an entire device collection, to run the "Clear Required PXE deployments" option - what would be great is if we could select multiple devices within a collection and have the option available. (It's currently disabled if more than one item is selected)

  6. Add auditing for changes to Cloud Service settings

Based on observation, there does not appear to be Audit logging for changes to cloud services from the MEMCM console. For example, a change was made to firewall and virtual networks but the activity log and Status Messages Queries did not reveal any data about the change.

It would be helpful to know what and when changes were made along with who made them and possibly a section the person who made the change can add a note.

Attaching a screen of a change that was made without logging.

  7. Display the name of the currently logon account

Our corporation allows us to logon to Configuration Manager 1910 with our Domain Admin and our user account simultaneously because they have different rights within Configuration Manager. Can you add the same button (see attached) as it has been in Windows OS to display the name of the currently logon account?

  8. Add the ability to view specific computers for Task Sequence deployment status

When viewing deployment status for Applications & Software Updates, we have the ability to double click on a status (for example, all machines in the 'In Progress' status) and get what I call a psuedo-collection view of specific machines that we can perform additional actions on (via right-click etc). However, when viewing a Task Sequence deployment status this is not possible. Double-clicking on a specific status unfortunately does nothing. This functionality would help quite a bit when reviewing & troubleshooting TS IPU deployments. Thanks!

  9. Allow console user to select SMS provider

Allow console users to be able to select the SMS provider they want to connect to when multiple providers are setup. Current setup doesn't work well for global implementations as it randomly selects a provider. We have US, Europe, India and Australia users and would like faster console access for all.

  10. content source

In client data sources there should be an "overall network" view. It's great to see the individual subnets but, it doesn't really give you a holistic picture of the environment.

  11. Use a fixed-width font (like consolas) for better script readability in ConfigMgr in all text-boxes where you type or paste scripts

There are several areas in the Configuration Manager Console with text fields for entering or pasting scripts. The Scripts feature, CI Detection and Remediation, Application Detection, etc. The font used in these areas is not script friendly. Tabs and spaces are hard to discern and the scripts look downright messy. Using Consolas or another monospaced font would preserve the nice looking formatting you've just copied out of somewhere like VS Code, and would make the script easier to read when you go to look at it later in the ConfigMgr Console. Please change it :)

Thank you for this great idea. This is something we are looking improve for Configuration Manager 2010. The 2007 Technical Preview now uses fixed-width fonts in the following areas of the console:

    • Application scripts
    • Configuration item scripts
    • WMI-based collection membership queries
    • CMPivot queries
    • Scripts
    • Task Sequence PowerShell scripts and command lines

Some additional fixes have also been made to further improve these scenarios:

    • Resizable windows for viewing/entering scripts
    • Using horizontal scrolling instead of word wrapping for scripts

Please try it out and send us a frown if there’s anything we missed or any other areas you’d like to see fixed width font support.

  12. Show the status of task sequences as they execute, more details than "Task received"

Show the status of task sequences as they execute, more details than "Task received", most other tools like Symantec Management Console and Altiris do a better job of describing what is happening from consoles perspective, deep-diving into several logs just to troubleshoot something basic is a pain in the butt.

  14. Deploy Software Wizard - Content destination section bypass checkbox or allow to click Next without waiting for everything to load.

Our environment has 1,000+ Distribution Points currently and I imagine a lot of other Enterprises would enjoy not having to sit through long wait times for all their Distribution Points to load into the Wizard's view when all they want to do is Deploy Software without specifying additional Content Destinations because it is already distributed everywhere it is needed.

  15. Add "new" icon in collections

Every time a "new" object is listed inside a collection, maybe a "star" (like the attached image) could tell "there are new objects". Same Devices and Users collections. And also in the main tree!

  16. Shrink Unused Space in Wizard Dialog

Shrink the size of the banner at the top of wizard dialogs to better work for users with lower resolutions, or using RDP from a computer with scaled windows UI. Buttons are hidden behind the task bar if using 150% scaling on a computer with a 1920x1080 resolution that is using RDP to access the console.

  19. Edge Management Dashboard

The Edge dashboard must have the same functionality like the Office 365 Client Management Dashboard.
E.g. by clicking the chart the device list appears automatically for each version.

  20. SMS Provider and admin console should allow for integration with third party MFA providers

Integrate Admin Console with third party MFA.

PCI requires MFA for any tool that manages PCI devices. Need integration with third party MFA profiders.
